Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pembelajaran menyimpulkan isi puisi rakyat menggunakan model pembelajaran Pair Checks pada siswa Kelas VII SMP Advent Tondano dan mengetahui bagaimana kemampuan siswa dalam menyimpulkan isi puisi rakyat jenis gurindam dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Pair Checks pada siswa kelas VII SMP Advent Tondano. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian yaitu metode kualitatif deskriptif, dengan data berupa puisi gurindam. Penelitian menunjukan bahwa dalam kegiatan menyimpulkan isi puisi rakyat jenis gurindam dengan menggunakan metode Pair Checks pada siswa tergolong mampu karena rata-rata skor yakni sebesar 91,20% dari jumlah 10 siswa. 6 siswa masuk dalam kategori sangat mampu dengan ratarata nilai 90-99% dan 2 orang siswa masuk dalam kategori mampu dengan nilai rata-rata dari keseluruhan aspek sebesar 80-89% dan 2 siswa masuk dalam kategori cukup mampu dengan perolehan skor rata-rata yaitu 70-74%

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui situasi penggunaan bahasa daerah masyarakat desa Beringin Kecamatan Ranoyapo Minahasa Selatan. Metode yang di gunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dengan penfekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian dilakukan di desa Beringin Kecamatan Ranoyapo Kabupaten Minahasa Selatan. Sumber data diambil dari dua belas orang yang terdiri dari pemuda dan orang dewasa yang tinggal di desa Beringin, dengan memenuhi syarat sebagai berikut: (1) berjenis kelamin pria atau wanita, (2) berusia dua puluh lima sampai enam puluh lima tahun (tidak pikun dan alat ucap masih lengkap), (3) lahir dan dibesarkan di desa serta jelas atau tidak pernah meninggalkan desa, (4) berpendidikan maksimal SD sampai SMA, (5) berstatus sosial menengah dengan harapan tidak tinggi mobilitasnya, (6) memiliki kebanggaan terhadap dialeknya, (7) dapat berbahasa Indonesia, dan (8) sehat jasmani dan rohani. Penelitian menggunakan tiga cara pengumpulan data yaitu obsevasi dan wawancara. Observasi dilakukan untuk mengamati penggunaan bahasa daerah di tengah masyarakat desa Beringin Kecamatan Ranoyapo Minahasa Selatan. Wawancara digunakan untuk mendapatkan jawaban dari responden dengan cara tanya jawab, sehingaa terkumpul data mengenai penggunaan bahasa daerah masyarakat desa Beringin. Proses analisis data dilakukan secara terus menerus dimulai dengan menelaah seluruh data yang tersedia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: Pemakaian bahasa Tontemboan di desa Beringin Kecamatan Ranoyapo sudah sangat rendah karena dari 12 informan tinggal 19% yang dapat menggunakan bahasa Tontemboan dalam berkomunikasi, 2) Masyarakat yang berkomunikasi dengan campuran BTswg berjumlah 8,3% dalam berkomunikasi. 3) Masyarakat yang berkomunikasi dengan BMM, berjumlah 74% dalam arti informan yang berjumlah 12 orang di dominasi oleh bahasa Melayu Manado.

Abstract

Pemain bass memegang peranan penting dalam suatu kelompok grup band, meskipun dalam band aliran rock lebih di dominasi oleh pemain gitar maupun vokalis. Billy Sheehan adalah figure yang berbeda dalam hal Teknik, penyajian, serta aksplorasi progresif dalam permainan bassnya. Bersama grup Band Mr. Big, mereka Menyusun lagu drill yang berjudul Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy yang memadukan Teknikteknik progresif dalam permainan mereka. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif yang memaparkan gambaran keadaan objek penelitian yaitu Teknik permainan bass dalam lagu Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy dan Billy Sheehansebagai sumber data utama yang dianalisa, selanjutnya hasil penelitian diuraikan secara deskriptif untuk menjawab permasalahan penelitian ini. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik 1) Observasi dan 2) Studi Dokumenter (Documentary Study). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa, Billy Sheehan dalam lagu Daddy, Brother, Lover Little Boy menggunakan kombinasi plucking, tapping yang dipadukan dengan Teknik lead permainan gitar.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the cruelty of slavery in America as shown inHarriet Beecher Stowe's Uncle Tom's Cabin. It is done to show the many sorts ofenslavement cruelty present in the novel, as well as the causes of the brutality in thestory. The writers have decided to undertake this research using qualitative methods.The writers employ a socio-historical method to data analysis. In the discussion isdivided into several indicators, such as cruelty of slavery which is divided into slavetreat as thing or properties and object of physical violence. The other indicator is slavessuffer as the effect cruelty of slavery which divided into racism, discrimination, slaves’life is restricted and rebellion. Based on the results of the discussion, it can be concludedthat slavery has happened to black people who are very cruel in America and evenlegalized. South Americans treat black people as slaves inhumanely and treat them likeanimals.

Abstract

The novel the Wonderful Wizard of OZ by L Frank Baum is chosen because the writers want to reveal the moral lessons of Dorothy. Moral lesson is what you have learned and what you encountered right. The form that the writers use in this research is qualitative research. The writers collect the data from two sources, first is primary source from literary works itself or the novel. And secondary source is from documents and internet articles. In analyzing the data, the writers use objective approach. The result of the study is the ten indicators of moral lesson as follows, honesty, tolerance, work hard, creative, love the motherland, communicative, love for peace, care for the environment, care for social and be responsible. The moral lesson becomes very important, as knowledge and skill, those moral lessons were very relevant to the curriculum used in Indonesia right now. It is also means that the Wonderful Wizard of OZ, novel by L. Frank Baum, is recommended to be read by the Indonesian student to build understanding about moral lesson.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the affection between John and Savannah In this study, the writers employ qualitative research in which the data gathered in form of words and quotations. In analysing this novel, the writers apply objective approach because this analysis will be only focused on the literary work itself without looking at the external aspects of the literary work. It means that the writers only pay attention to the internal parts of the story in the novel. The result of this research will be able to enlarge the reader ability in appreciating literary works and also it can deeper the knowledge of the next researchers.

Abstract

The research intends to find out whether or not mind mapping technique can improve students’ reading comprehension. The study is a pre-experimental design using one group pre-test and post-test design. The research is conducted at SMP Negeri 4 Touluaan and the subject of the study is twenty six students. To collect the data, the writers use an objective test in the form of multiple choice consisted of 10 numbers. Pre-test is given before the treatment. After treatment the students are given post-test. The mean score of the pre-test is 4.23 and the standard deviation is 1.34. Meanwhile, the mean score of post-test is 6.96 and the standard deviation is 1.09. It could be said that the result of post-test is much better or higher than those of pre-test. So, it is concluded that mind mapping technique is effective to be used in improving students’ reading comprehension. Teachers of English at junior high school are recommended to use mind technique in teaching reading comprehension to help the students improve understanding of a reading text and make them active in reading activities.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to reveal the form of racism and its impact on the mental health of African American in Toni Morrison's The Bluest Eye. The design of this study is qualitative research because the data that support this research are collected from books, journals, articles, and internet. The researchers use two kinds of data collection, namely the primary source that is the novel itself and the secondary sources are books, articles, the internet, and journals. The approach needed in research ismimetic approach, because this topic is related to the environment and as a reflection of human life. In analysing the data, researchers use three techniques called data reducing, data display, and conclusion. Researchers have read the novel and then decided the topic. From the amount of data collected from various sources researchers use text or jotting to compares, contrasts, and sorts the required data, from the notes written by the researchers, then categorize the relevant data. The results of the analysis are racism experienced by African Americans in the form of rejection, insults and violence. Racism in the novel is not only practiced by white people but also among black people.

Abstract

To reveals the self-defense of Ronnie Miller in Nicholas Sparks The Last Song. In this research the writer used qualitative method in analyzing the novel. It means that, this research does not deal with numbers or diagrams as in quantitative research. This research uses the theory of Sigmund Freud's Psychoanalysis. which states that psychics is a literary theory that examines the psychological elements of the characters in literature. the researcher concludes that there are threemain characters of self-defense reflected from Ronnie Miller as a daughter in her family and major character in this novel. Those are: Have a sense of Concern over hatred, recover quickly from difficulties and toughness and have a strong determination, Self-defense is an act of defend ourselves from obstacles, challenges and problems and take those parts as self-improvement, related with the novel it is against the negative impact waftre her parents divorced. Finally, the researcher concludes that Ronnnie MillerThe Last Song as a broken home child could be faced by self-defense and inner powerto survive from her condition eventough sometimes she faced many problems which is impact from her family condition.

Abstract

The aims of this research are 1) The students’ the teaching practice in microteaching, 2)The students’ perception of the Lesson Plan design in microteaching practice, 3) Students’ perception of the use of learning media in microteaching practice. This method of this research was use descriptive qualitative. Subject of the Research is the location of this research was at English Department, Universitas Negeri Surabaya. The subject of the research was the students at Universitas Negeri Surabaya, English Department of seventh semester. The researcher observed one classes consists of 87 students. Based on the data obtained, the researcher concludes that most of the students gave positive perceptions of the microteaching practice in the teaching and learning process, there were many statements that microteaching got a lot of knowledge, including how to teach properly and correctly, and microteaching can to increase self-confidence and being more excited.
