Abstract

Abstract This study was motivated by the important role of the Village Head as an innovator in promoting change and improving village governance in Sukahurip Village, Pangandaran District, Pangandaran Regency. Although supported by various resources, several challenges remain in the implementation of village innovation. This study aims to examine the role of the Village Head as an innovator in village governance by employing a qualitative research method. The study involved 10 informants, and data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review. Data analysis was conducted by systematically processing the findings from interviews and observations to draw research conclusions. The results indicate that the Village Head has performed the role of an innovator through the implementation of technology-based administrative systems, the utilization of village information media, the development of community empowerment programs, and efforts to establish more effective public services and village governance. However, the implementation of this role has not yet been fully optimized due to several constraints, including limited development of community potential-based programs, inadequate utilization of information technology, insufficient exploration of community ideas and aspirations, and limited capacity-building opportunities for village officials. These challenges are influenced by budget constraints, underutilized village potential, low levels of technological literacy, limited community participation in contributing ideas, and unequal access to training opportunities for village officials. To address these issues, the Village Head has undertaken various initiatives, including enhancing the use of information technology, expanding opportunities for community participation, developing innovative programs based on local village potential, increasing training for village officials, and conducting continuous guidance and evaluation to ensure that village governance innovation is implemented effectively, sustainably, and for the benefit of the community. Abstract

Abstract Effective village governance plays an important role in improving public services, supporting sustainable rural development, and enhancing community welfare. The success of village administration is highly influenced by the performance of the village head as the leader of the village government. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Village Head’s performance in the implementation of village governance in Senganan Village, Penebel District, Tabanan Regency, and to identify solutions to overcome the factors that hinder effective performance. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The informants consisted of the Village Head, village officials, members of the Village Consultative Body (BPD), and the community of Senganan Village. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The study adopted Richard M. Steers’ organizational effectiveness theory, which includes work quality, timeliness, work initiative, problem-solving ability, and the ability to foster cooperation. The findings reveal that the performance of the Village Head in administering village governance in Senganan Village has not been fully effective. This condition is indicated by the existence of village programs that have not achieved their targets, delays in program implementation and public services, low community participation in village activities, and insufficient transparency of information to the public. Several factors contributing to these conditions include limited coordination among village officials, low levels of community participation, and inadequate supporting resources. Therefore, efforts to improve the effectiveness of the Village Head’s performance should focus on strengthening internal coordination within the village administration, enhancing transparency and accountability, encouraging greater community participation in village development, and optimizing community empowerment and development programs. Abstract

Abstract This study examines the terminal governance of Type C Ciamis Terminal from the perspective of Good Governance by the Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) of the Ciamis Regency Transportation Agency. Terminal management faces significant challenges, including a decrease in public transportation passengers, a lack of public environmental awareness regarding waste management, and suboptimal infrastructure maintenance. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection was carried out through structured observations, semi-structured interviews with 7 informants (including head of UPTD, head of administrative subdivision, general administration officer, drivers, and local traders), and official documentation analysis. The findings indicate that while several dimensions such as participation, law enforcement, equity, effectiveness, and accountability have been successfully operationalized, four key indicators remain suboptimal: transparency in information disclosure regarding regional non-tax revenues, active physical complaint mechanisms, sustainable institutional coordination, and a clear infrastructure modernization policy framework. Thus, structured improvements are required to elevate public services quality. Keywords: Governance, Good Governance, Type C Terminal, Public Transportation, UPTD Dishub

Abstract

Abstract Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have the potential to grow through the utilization of digital marketing; however, each business actor faces distinct challenges and needs. This Community Service activity aims to strengthen the digital marketing of dendeng (beef jerky) and rengginang (traditional glutinous rice crackers) MSMEs in Girimekar Village through assistance tailored to the specific needs of each partner. The implementation method includes field observations, interviews, needs identification, assistance program design, and activity execution. The identification results indicate that the dendeng MSME faced issues regarding business location inaccuracies on Google Maps and a lack of video-based promotional media. Meanwhile, the rengginang MSME experienced constraints in strengthening its visual identity and product packaging design. Based on these issues, assistance for the dendeng MSME was carried out through the optimization of the Google Business Profile as part of Local SEO and the creation of digital promotional videos. Meanwhile, assistance for the rengginang MSME was conducted through visual branding reinforcement by developing product packaging designs. The results of the activity demonstrate improved business location visibility, the availability of digital promotional media, and enhanced product visual identity tailored to the needs of each partner. A needs-based assistance approach is expected to serve as a more targeted strategy in supporting the capacity building of MSME marketing. Abstract

Abstract Marketing digitalization is one of the efforts to help Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) expand their marketing reach and increase public awareness of their products. This community service activity was conducted at Keripik Singkong YM, located in Mekarwangi Village, Ibun District, Majalaya, Bandung Regency. The business previously relied on traditional word-of-mouth marketing, resulting in a relatively limited marketing reach. This activity aimed to improve the brand identity, location accessibility, and promotional media of the MSME through the utilization of digital technology. The methods used included interviews, observation, socialization, and mentoring. The activities were implemented through logo rebranding, registration of the MSME location on Goggle Maps, and the creation of a promotional banner. The results showed that Keripik YM obtained a new visual identity in the form of a redesigned logo, promotional media in the form of a banner, and a business location registered on Goggle Maps. In addition, the MSME owner gained an understanding of the importance of utilizing digital technology to support marketing activities. This digitalization activity can serve as an initial step for Keripik YM to expand product awareness and develop broader marketing activities. Abstract

Abstract Micro and ultra-micro enterprises have an important role in the community’s economy; however, they still face limitations in maintaining systematic financial transaction records. This activity aimed to analyze the effectiveness of a seminar and training program on single-entry financial transaction recording for micro and ultra-micro entrepreneurs through the Impactful Thematic Community Service Program (KKN Tematik Berdampak) of Universitas Al-Ghifari in 2026 in Lampegan Village, Ibun District, Bandung Regency. The activity employed a pre-experimental approach using a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 17 participants. Measurements were conducted across three dimensions: affective, cognitive, and psychomotor. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk test, the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, effect size, and N-Gain Score. The results showed an increase in the mean affective score from 3.59 to 7.18, cognitive score from 3.18 to 6.59, and psychomotor score from 2.94 to 5.47. The Wilcoxon test indicated significant differences across all dimensions (p ≤ 0.001), with a large effect size (r = 0.835–0.900). The N-Gain results indicated high effectiveness in the affective and cognitive dimensions and moderate effectiveness in the psychomotor dimension and overall score. Thus, the seminar and training effectively improved participants’ attitudes, knowledge, and skills in single-entry financial transaction recording. Abstract

Abstract This career discussion program was conducted for students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) and Madrasah Aliyah (MA) At-Turmudzi in Cibodas Village as part of the Community Service Program (KKN). The program was initiated based on field observations indicating that some students, particularly those approaching graduation from MTs, tended to prioritize working or getting married after completing lower secondary education. At the same time, opportunities for students to discuss further education, career choices, and future planning remained limited. This activity employed a descriptive qualitative approach consisting of observation, informal interactions, documentation, and activity reflection. Career discussion sessions were tailored to the students' educational levels. For MTs students, discussions focused on self-awareness, interest mapping, post-graduation educational alternatives, career options, and the correlation between educational attainment and the future workforce. For MA students, topics were expanded to post-graduation planning, higher education mapping, study program selection, career exploration, and preparation for higher education or entering the job market. During the MA session, the program also introduced Al-Ghifari University as one of the higher education alternatives for students to consider. The implementation demonstrated that interactive career discussions helped broaden students' perspectives regarding future choices. Furthermore, this program highlights the importance of sustainable career guidance involving schools, families, and the community to enable students to make informed educational and career decisions based on comprehensive information, interests, abilities, and clear future goals. Abstract

Residual waste management is an environmental issue faced by residents of RW 07, Lebakwangi Village, Arjasari Subdistrict, Bandung Regency, as indicated by open burning, disposal on vacant land, and limited source-based waste sorting. This community service activity aimed to implement a Rocket Stove as a more controlled alternative for residual waste treatment and to provide waste-sorting education. The activities consisted of observation, coordination with local leaders, construction of one Rocket Stove unit on waqf land, operational testing, waste-sorting education, and evaluation through observation and pre-test–post-test assessment of 37 participants. The field test showed a processing capacity of approximately 35–55 kg of dry organic/light mixed waste per cycle and a temperature of around 600°C within 10–15 minutes, with visually lower smoke than open burning. The mean participant score increased from 59.67% in the pre-test to 86.80% in the post-test, representing an increase of 27.13 percentage points. A total of 35 households were recorded as using the facility. The main limitation was accessibility for residents living farther from the waqf land. Therefore, additional processing points, continuous education, and stronger community-based management are recommended to broaden the program impact. Abstract

Abstract Public security and order constitute fundamental components of governance and public service delivery. The complexity of security issues in urban areas requires an approach that does not rely solely on police institutions but also involves community institutions and social structures that possess local legitimacy. East Denpasar District is characterized by high population mobility, social heterogeneity, intensive economic and social activities, and the existence of customary villages and banjar as important social institutions within Balinese society. These conditions create a need for a security governance model capable of integrating formal authority with the social and cultural capacities of local communities. This study aims to analyze the forms and processes of synergy between Polisi Banjar and Pecalang, identify supporting and inhibiting factors, and formulate strategies for strengthening such synergy in realizing local wisdom-based security in East Denpasar District, Denpasar City. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study strategy. Informants were selected purposively and further developed through snowball sampling. Data were collected through interviews, observations, documentation, and online sources. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The analytical framework employed Emerson, Nabatchi, and Balogh's Collaborative Governance theory, consisting of system context, drivers, principled engagement, shared motivation, capacity for joint action, collaborative actions, impacts, and adaptation. The findings demonstrate that synergy between Polisi Banjar and Pecalang has operated through communication, information exchange, early detection, patrols, security arrangements for community and customary activities, population monitoring, public security outreach, mediation, and coordination in addressing security issues. Supporting factors include institutional support, communication, trust, customary legitimacy, social solidarity, previous collaborative experiences, mutual cooperation, and community participation. Inhibiting factors include inconsistent understanding of authority, dependence on personal relationships, limited resources, the absence of uniform technical joint SOPs, personnel rotation, differences in capacity, and unintegrated information and evaluation systems. The strengthening strategy should focus on institutionalizing collaboration through joint SOPs, authority matrices, regular coordination forums, information exchange systems, joint vulnerability mapping, cross-institutional training, resource strengthening, increased community participation, and continuous evaluation and institutional learning.
