Abstract

Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) often occur after every type of vaccination, including the DPT vaccine. Many children experience fever after receiving the DPT vaccine, which is a normal reaction. However, many mothers feel tense, anxious, and worried. This study aims to determine the relationship between mothers’ knowledge and attitudes towards AEFI reactions in toddlers receiving the DPT vaccine at the UPTD Tanjung Agung Community Health Center in 2024. The sampling technique used accidental sampling with a total of 65 respondents. The research instrument was a questionnaire, and data analysis was conducted bivariately using the chi-square test. The results of this study indicate a significant relationship between mothers’ knowledge of AEFI reactions. Mothers’ attitudes towards AEFI reactions and DPT immunization were also analyzed. The Chi-square analysis results show a significant relationship between mothers’ knowledge of AEFI reactions (p-value = 0.000) and their attitudes toward AEFI reactions (p-value = 0.000). Knowledge and attitudes towards AEFI reactions have a significant relationship with DPT immunization. It is concluded that there is a relationship between knowledge and attitudes about AEFI and the administration of the DPT vaccine. Therefore, healthcare workers are expected to improve DPT immunization and AEFI education to minimize negative perceptions regarding DPT immunization and AEFI.

Abstract

Patient satisfaction is an important indicator in assessing the quality of healthcare services, including dental care services. Tugu Jaya Hospital in OKI Regency has not yet obtained evaluative data regarding patient satisfaction in its dental outpatient services. This study aims to determine the relationship between respondent characteristics and service quality dimensions with patient satisfaction. The study employed a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach and involved 70 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using chi-square tests and multiple logistic regression. The results showed significant relationships between education (p = 0.001; PR = 0.281), tangible (p = 0.000; PR = 7.059), empathy (p = 0.006; PR = 2.819), assurance (p = 0.010; PR = 2.596), and reliability (p = 0.022; PR = 2.338) with patient satisfaction. Meanwhile, no significant relationships were found between age (p = 1.00), gender (p = 0.495), and responsiveness (p = 0.070) and satisfaction. Among all the variables, the empathy dimension was the most dominant factor influencing satisfaction (OR = 0.208). Patient satisfaction with dental health services is influenced by education and service quality dimensions, particularly staff empathy. Enhancing service quality through empathy and interpersonal communication is the primary recommendation.

Abstract

The postpartum period is a critical phase for mothers due to physical and psychological changes. High anxiety during newborn care may negatively affect maternal and infant health. Factors such as maternal knowledge, spousal support, and maternal age are suspected to influence postpartum anxiety levels. This study aims to analyze the relationship between knowledge, spousal support, and age with the level of maternal anxiety in postpartum newborn care. This study employed a cross-sectional analytic design. A total of 100 postpartum mothers were selected through purposive sampling in Baturaja, Ogan Komering Ulu District. Data were collected through interviews using structured questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed a significant relationship between knowledge (p=0.000), spousal support (p=0.000), and age (p=0.000) with maternal anxiety levels in newborn care. Mothers with low knowledge, low spousal support, and at-risk age were more likely to experience severe anxiety. Knowledge, spousal support, and age are significant factors influencing postpartum maternal anxiety. Educational interventions and family-based social support should be strengthened in maternal and child health services to reduce postpartum anxiety.

Abstract

Background The Emergency Department (ED) is a critical hospital unit that requires nurses to provide fast and accurate responses to life-threatening conditions. Nurse response time is a key quality indicator, yet delays often occur due to excessive workload. Studies suggest that high workload negatively affects response time, but a comprehensive review in the Indonesian context remains limited. Objective This study aimed to critically review existing literature on the relationship between nurses’ workload and response time in emergency care settings in Indonesia. Methods A systematic literature review was conducted using Google Scholar and PubMed databases. Articles published between 2019 and 2025 were screened based on inclusion criteria: studies conducted in Indonesian EDs, discussing both workload and response time, available in full-text, and written in English or Indonesian. Quality appraisal was performed using the JBI Critical Appraisal Tools, resulting in 8 eligible articles out of 360 initially identified. Results Most of the reviewed studies found a significant relationship between high workload and delayed nurse response time. Nurses with lower workload were more likely to meet the ≤5-minute standard. Other influencing factors included training, years of experience, facility infrastructure, and patient condition. Variations in study design, data collection methods, and perspectives (nurses vs. patients) contributed to inconsistent findings across studies. Conclusion Nurse workload significantly influences response time in emergency settings. However, this relationship is affected by multiple interacting factors such as work environment, professional competency, and support systems. It is recommended to implement real-time workload assessment tools, enhance training programs, and conduct mixed-method studies that differentiate physical, mental, and emotional workload dimensions to improve emergency response performance and patient safety.

Abstract

Background Anemia is one of the most common public health problems among adolescent girls, potentially leading to decreased concentration, impaired growth, and reduced immune function. The prevalence of anemia in this age group remains high, both globally and nationally. Objective This study aimed to analyze the factors influencing the incidence of anemia among adolescent girls in the working area of Nawangsasi Public Health Center, Musi Rawas District. Methods A quantitative study with a cross-sectional approach was conducted involving 72 adolescent girls selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through interviews using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using chi-square tests and logistic regression. Results There were significant associations between nutritional status (p = 0.006), iron tablet consumption (p = 0.009), and dietary patterns (p = 0.019) with the incidence of anemia. The most dominant factor was dietary pattern (p = 0.026), with an odds ratio of 11.00 (95% CI = 1.33–90.61). Conclusion Improving dietary habits and increasing adherence to iron supplementation play a crucial role in anemia prevention among adolescent girls. Continuous nutritional education and behavioral monitoring through multisectoral collaboration are recommended to effectively reduce anemia prevalence in this population.

Abstract

Background Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) remains a persistent public health concern in Indonesia, driven by a complex interplay of individual and environmental risk factors. Understanding these determinants is crucial to enhance disease control strategies at the community level. Objective This study aimed to analyze the risk factors associated with the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis in the working area of Tebing Tinggi Public Health Center, Empat Lawang. Methods A quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted involving 76 respondents selected from 321 suspected TB patients using purposive sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires. Bivariate analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test, and multivariate analysis was conducted using logistic regression to determine the dominant risk factors. Results Bivariate analysis showed that age (p = 0.04) and household contact (p = 0.00) were significantly associated with the incidence of pulmonary TB, while gender, knowledge, housing density, and ventilation were not (p > 0.05). Multivariate analysis revealed that household contact was the most dominant factor influencing TB incidence. Conclusion Household contact and older age were significantly associated with pulmonary tuberculosis incidence. Targeted interventions such as household contact tracing and focused health education for older populations are essential to reduce transmission and improve TB control at the community level.

Abstract

Background Low back pain (LBP) remains a major occupational health issue, particularly in developing countries like Indonesia, where nurses are frequently exposed to prolonged standing, heavy lifting, and poor ergonomic practices. These conditions contribute to decreased productivity and quality of life. Objective This study aimed to examine the characteristics of low back pain among nurses at Royal Prima General Hospital Medan and to assess the relationship between postural risk (REBA scores) and disability level (ODI scores). Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted in May 2025, involving 65 nurses selected using proportional stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a demographic questionnaire, the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) for postural analysis, and the Indonesian version of the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) to measure disability. Data were analyzed using Spearman correlation and the Mann-Whitney U test. Results The mean REBA score was 5.48 ± 2.67, and the mean ODI score was 11.68 ± 13.42. A significant positive correlation was found between REBA and ODI scores (r = 0.267, p = 0.033), indicating a weak but significant association between poor posture and increased disability. Nurses working ≥8 hours per day had significantly higher ODI and REBA scores (p < 0.05). No significant differences were found based on gender, work unit, or length of employment. Conclusion Prolonged working hours are associated with increased postural risk and disability levels among nurses. A weak but significant correlation exists between postural risk and low back disability. Early ergonomic interventions and better shift duration management are recommended to reduce the incidence of LBP. To our knowledge, this is one of the first studies in Indonesia utilizing both REBA and ODI among hospital nurses, contributing valuable local evidence to inform occupational health strategies

Abstract

Background Exclusive breastfeeding is vital for optimal infant growth and health, yet its coverage in Indonesia remains suboptimal. Maternal knowledge and family support are key factors influencing breastfeeding success. Objective This study aimed to analyze the relationship between maternal knowledge and family support on exclusive breastfeeding practices. Methods A quantitative study with an analytic survey and cross-sectional design was conducted in the working area of TPMB Ririn Sevda Korini, Ogan Komering Ulu District, in December 2024. A total of 80 respondents were selected using total sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi-Square test with a 0.05 significance level. Results Most mothers (71.3%) did not practice exclusive breastfeeding. The majority had moderate knowledge (60%) and lacked family support (68.8%). A significant relationship was found between maternal knowledge and family support with exclusive breastfeeding practices (p = 0.000). Conclusion Better maternal knowledge and stronger family support significantly increase the likelihood of exclusive breastfeeding. Breastfeeding promotion interventions should include educational support for mothers and families, workplace-friendly policies, and community-based strategies to foster supportive breastfeeding environments.
