Abstract

Background & Objective: Iron deficiency anemia is anemia caused by a lack of iron used for hemoglobin synthesis. General symptoms of anemia include weakness, signs of hyperdynamic state with strong and rapid pulse, and palpitations. Blood transfusion is known to have the potential to overcome anemia, especially anemia in postpartum mothers. Method: This study employed a qualitative approach using a maternal nursing care approach and documented nursing care for anemia patients in the Mawar Postpartum Ward at Kardinah General Hospital in Tegal City. The intervention innovation implemented was the administration of blood transfusion therapy. Result: After continuous blood transfusion for 3 days, the patient showed a decrease in hemoglobin intensity from 7.4 g/dL to 9.0 g/dL. The patient also felt more emotionally calm, with improved dizziness and heart palpitations, and was able to perform activities. Conclusion: Blood transfusion is effective as an additional intervention for managing postpartum anemia patients. This approach also supports maternal nursing practices in improving the quality of care for anemia patients.

Abstract

Background & Objective: A cesarean section is performed when spontaneous or vaginal delivery is not possible due to risks to either the mother or the baby. Pain during childbirth with cesarean section can be minimized using two methods: pharmacological and non-pharmacological. One intervention that can be provided is deep breathing relaxation technique, which helps induce a relaxed state by controlling breathing, thereby reducing pain during childbirth and aiding recovery. Method: This study is descriptive, using a case study method, with deep breathing relaxation performed 15 times, divided into 3 cycles. In each cycle, the patient was asked to take 5 deep breaths with one rest period. The criteria for inclusion were patients who had undergone a cesarean section with postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) as an indication, patients with pain complaints, and those who signed an informed consent form. Result: The results of this study showed that after three days of deep breathing relaxation intervention, patients reported feeling more relaxed, with their pain diverted and reduced. There was a decrease in pain scale from 6 to 2, with the assistance of dexketoprofen medication. Conclusion: Deep breathing relaxation can be an effective management strategy for reducing pain scale with medication assistance.

Abstract

Background & Objective: Hypertension is a condition in which a person experiences an increase in blood pressure above normal limits, which can cause pain or death. Efforts to lower blood pressure can be done through pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments. For people with hypertension, non-pharmacological therapy is an alternative. This involves consuming foods such as cucumbers, which are high in potassium, calcium, and other important nutrients. Method: The research method used a literature review of studies published between 2020 and 2024. The literature search employed a data strategy using the keywords “hypertension” and “cucumber,” utilizing the Google Scholar and PubMed databases. The criteria included articles discussing the relationship between hypertension and cucumber, with full-text availability. Result: The results from 10 articles indicate that consuming cucumber juice in hypertensive patients is effective in lowering blood pressure. Conclusion: It is recommended that hypertensive patients consume cucumber juice regularly to achieve effective results; however, hypertensive patients should also maintain a balanced diet and engage in sufficient physical activity.

Abstract

Background & Objective : Ischemic stroke, also known as non-hemorrhagic stroke, is a condition in which blockage of blood vessels leads to partial or complete interruption of blood flow to the brain. This scientific paper aims to analyze nursing care with the intervention of Range of Motion (ROM) exercises in patients with non-hemorrhagic stroke who experience impaired physical mobility. Method : This paper was developed using a case study method. The subject was one patient diagnosed with non-hemorrhagic stroke who had impaired physical mobility at RSD Gunung Jati Cirebon. Data were collected through anamnesis, physical assessment, direct observation, and documentation. The nursing care process was carried out for three days. Result: On admission, the patient complained of pain and difficulty moving the left extremities. The intervention provided was mobilization support through the implementation of Evidence-Based Nursing (EBN) Range of Motion (ROM) exercises. These exercises were implemented for three consecutive days, each session lasting 20 minutes and repeated for each subject. After three days of intervention, evaluation showed improvement in the patient’s physical mobility status, increasing from a score of 3 to 4, indicating that ROM was effective for patients with impaired physical mobility. Conclusion: The application of ROM exercises proved effective in improving physical mobility in patients with non-hemorrhagic stroke. ROM can therefore be recommended as an intervention to support mobilization in stroke patients experiencing impaired mobility.

Abstract

Background & Objective: Globally, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that non-communicable diseases cause approximately 60% of deaths and 40% of morbidity worldwide. Based on data from the Cirebon profile (2018), hypertension is the highest health problem in Cirebon, ranging from 22.0% to 26.2%. Based on the data obtained, the highest number of cases of degenerative diseases according to morbidity rates is hypertension, with 37 cases out of 120 elderly individuals. The objective of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of deep breathing relaxation techniques in lowering blood pressure and reducing associated symptoms (such as headaches and sleep disturbances) in hypertensive patients. Method: The research method used a quasi-experiment with a case study approach on a hypertensive patient (Mr. J). The deep breathing relaxation intervention was given once a day for 3 days. Result: The results showed that this technique successfully lowered blood pressure, reduced pain complaints, and improved patients' sleep quality. However, more intensive intervention and a longer duration are needed to achieve optimal results. Conclusion: It is recommended that healthcare professionals, especially nurses, integrate deep breathing relaxation techniques as part of holistic nursing care for patients with hypertension, especially the elderly.
