Abstract

Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) among pregnant women is influenced by direct factors, such as nutritional intake and infectious diseases, as well as indirect factors, including age, parity, education, employment, economic status, knowledge, and access to health services. Preliminary data from the Wonosegoro Community Health Center in 2025 showed a high number of CED cases among pregnant women, with 81 recorded cases. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between age and parity and the incidence of CED among pregnant women in the Wonosegoro Community Health Center service area. This research used a quantitative method with an analytical survey approach and a retrospective case-control design. The sample consisted of 81 pregnant women with CED as the case group and 81 pregnant women without CED as the control group. Data were obtained from medical records and analyzed using Fisher’s Exact Test. The results showed that most respondents were in the low-risk age group of 20–35 years, totaling 132 respondents (81.5%), and in the low-risk parity group of 1–3, totaling 151 respondents (93.2%). The analysis showed a significant relationship between age and CED incidence with a p-value of 0.025, and between parity and CED incidence with a p-value of 0.009. The odds ratio for age was 2.800, while the odds ratio for parity was 11.268. Therefore, age and parity were associated with CED incidence among pregnant women. These findings may serve as input for health workers to improve education on CED prevention before pregnancy.

Abstract

Student visit data are one of the important indicators for evaluating the utilization of educational laboratory facilities in achieving students’ practical skill competencies and professional readiness. The purpose of this study is to analyze the pattern, distribution, and trend of student visits without providing intervention or treatment in the laboratory of the Jayapura midwifery department. This study is a quantitative study with a descriptive design, using secondary data in the form of the number of laboratory visits obtained from routine reports. Research location: The study was conducted at the Laboratory of the Midwifery Department, Poltekkes Kemenkes Jayapura, Research time: Secondary data analysis includes student visits during 2023, 2024, and 2025. Data were analyzed retrospectively to see the trend and distribution of visits over the past three years with the Kruskal–Wallis test. The results of the research from the Graph of student visit trends to the Laboratory of the Midwifery Department in 2023–2025 show fluctuations in the number of visits with a relatively consistent seasonal pattern every year. There is a significant difference in the number of student visits to the laboratory between 2023, 2024, and 2025. The test results show a Chi-Square value of 8.742 with a degree of freedom (df) of 2 and a significance value (p) of 0.013. Because the p-value was less than 0.05, instead indicates a statistically significant difference in laboratory utiliztion patterns.  The laboratory functions as a learning facility whose use follows curriculum needs therefore, scheduling, resource management and facility readiness need to be adjusted to peak periods of academic activity.

Abstract

Burnout syndrome is a condition characterized by emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion that may affect the quality of healthcare services and the performance of nurse inpatient wards. High job demands and ineffective interpersonal communication may increase the risk of burnout syndrome. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between workload and interpersonal communication and burnout syndrome among healthcare workers in the inpatient wards of Brebes Regional General Hospital. This study employed an analytic observational design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 60 healthcare workers were selected using a consecutive sampling technique. Data were collected using a workload questionnaire, an interpersonal communication questionnaire, and the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS). Data were analyzed using Spearman rank correlation tests. The results showed that most respondents were female (60%), aged 24–37 years (56,7%), and had a working period of 4–14 years (60%). The largest proportio majority of respondents had a moderate workload (63.3%), low levels of interpersonal communication (30%), and moderate levels of burnout syndrome (51.7%). Bivariate analysis revealed that both workload and interpersonal communication were significantly associated with burnout syndrome (p<0.001). It can be concluded that workload and interpersonal communication are significantly related to burnout syndrome among healthcare workers in the inpatient wards of Brebes Regional General Hospital. Workload was positively correlated, while interpersonal communication was negatively correlated with burnout syndrome.

Abstract

Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a major tropical health problem in Indonesia, including West Java, which experiences an increase in cases during the transitional season. Efforts to eradicate mosquito breeding sites through Mosquito Breeding Site Eradication (PSN/3M Plus) programs as a preventive measure against DHF have not been optimally implemented in Balekambang Village, West Java. Objective: This study aimed to determine the determinants of mosquito nest eradication behavior among the community in Balekambang Village. Methods: This study employed a quantitative method with a descriptive correlational design and a cross-sectional approach. This design identifies associations but cannot establish causality. The study population consisted of residents of Balekambang Village, with a sample of 85 respondents selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected using questionnaires on knowledge, attitudes, and mosquito nest eradication behavior, then analyzed using the Chi-Square test. Results: The bivariate analysis showed no significant relationship between age (p-value = 0.546) and gender (p-value = 0.659) with mosquito nest eradication behavior. However, there were significant relationships between education level (p-value = 0.001), level of knowledge (p-value = 0.018), and attitudes (p-value = 0.001) with community mosquito nest eradication behavior. Conclusion: This study concluded that education, knowledge, and attitudes were significantly associated with mosquito breeding site eradication behavior in the community. Therefore, healthcare workers are expected to provide routine education and information related to mosquito nest eradication in order to increase community awareness and participation in DHF prevention.

Abstract

Cerebral palsy (CP) is a permanent and non-progressive disorder of movement and posture development caused by injury to the developing brain that may result in motor, sensory, postural, and functional impairments in children. Children with spastic hemiplegic cerebral palsy commonly experience spasticity, trunk instability, impaired postural control, and limitations in functional activities that require long-term physiotherapy management. This study aimed to describe the physiotherapy management and clinical response of a child with Spastic Hemiplegic Cerebral Palsy Sinistra following exercise therapy intervention. This case study was conducted at PNTC Colomadu Clinic from January 10 to January 24, 2026, involving six physiotherapy sessions over a two-week period. The interventions included myofascial release, back extensor muscle massage, trunk stretching and mobilization, oral motor stimulation, sitting control exercises, gait training, and standing exercises. Evaluation was performed using the Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS), Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory (PEDI), Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS), Manual Ability Classification System (MACS), Communication Function Classification System (CFCS), Eating and Drinking Ability Classification System (EDACS), Visual Function Classification System (VFCS), and Short Sensory Profile (SSP). The results showed that no objective clinical improvement was observed in spasticity, motor function, functional ability, or sensory responses after six therapy sessions. However, the patient demonstrated stable functional conditions without further deterioration during the intervention period. Exercise therapy may contribute to maintaining functional capacity, preventing secondary complications, and supporting long-term sensorimotor rehabilitation in children with severe neurological involvement.

Abstract

High turnover intention remains a significant challenge for companies operating in the mining industry due to its impact on organizational stability and productivity. One factor associated with turnover intention is work-life balance. This study aimed to examine the relationship between work-life balance and turnover intention among production employees at PT. X, a coal mining company in South Kalimantan. The study used a cross-sectional correlational design. A total of 150 employees participated in the study Findings should be interpreted cautiously because participants were recruited through convenience sampling, with a minimum work tenure of one year. Data were collected using the Work-Life Balance Scale adapted from Fisher  and the Turnover Intention Scale adapted from Mobley. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The results indicated that work-life balance had a negative and significant effect on turnover intention (R² = 0.21; β = -0.46; p < 0.001). These findings suggest that employees who experience a better balance between work and personal life tend to have lower intentions to leave the organization. Conversely, poor work-life balance increases the likelihood of turnover intention. The findings highlight the importance of organizational policies that support employee well-being, workload management, and work flexibility

Abstract

Down Syndrome is a genetic disorder caused by chromosomal abnormalities that may affect motor development, postural control, sensory processing, and functional abilities in children. Children with Down Syndrome commonly present with hypotonia, postural instability, delayed motor milestones, and sensory integration problems that may interfere with daily activities. This case study aimed to describe physiotherapy management and clinical responses related to balance, trunk control, functional activity, and sensory responses in a child with Down Syndrome. The subject was a 4.5-year-old boy diagnosed with Down Syndrome who received six physiotherapy sessions over four weeks at PNTC Karanganyar. The intervention was conducted 2–3 times per week and consisted of neurosensory stimulation, myofascial release, stretching or passive ROM exercise, brain gym, blocking, play therapy, and massage. Evaluation was performed using the Pediatric Balance Scale (PBS), Trunk Control Measurement Scale (TCMS), Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory (PEDI), and Sensory Profile. The results showed mild improvement in balance, indicated by an increase in PBS score from 36 to 42, and improvement in trunk control, with the TCMS score increasing from 48/58 to 49/58. Functional ability remained relatively stable; however, observational improvement was found in participation, attention, and tolerance during therapy activities. In conclusion, physiotherapy intervention contributed positively to improving balance, trunk control, and participation in a child with Down Syndrome, although the clinical changes were relatively mild.
