Abstract

Post-stroke depression is a common psychological complication among stroke survivors. Stroke is a leading cause of deat h and disability and can cause physical and psychological impacts, including depression. Changes in physical condition after a stroke can affect a patient's self-concept, while family support plays a crucial role in the process of adaptation and psychological recovery. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-concept and family support with levels of depression in post-stroke patients at Dr. A. Dadi Tjokrodipo Regional Hospital in 2025. This study used a quantitative correlational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of 267 respondents, with a sample size of 73 respondents determined using the Slovin formula with a purposive sampling technique. The research instruments used included a 25-question self-concept questionnaire, a 15-question family support questionnaire, and a 15-question Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS-15) questionnaire to measure the level of depression in respondents. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis with the chi-square test. The results showed a relationship between self-concept and depression levels with a p-value of 0.000 (p<0.05), and a relationship between family support and depression levels with a p-value of 0.034 (p<0.05). Most respondents had a negative self-concept (63.0%), of 29 respondents, the majority had moderate family support (39.7%), and the majority of 35 respondents experienced moderate depression (47.9%). It is recommended that healthcare professionals provide education and support to post-stroke patients and their families regarding the importance of strengthening self-concept and family support to reduce depression levels in post-stroke patients.

Abstract

Sleep disorders among older adults are a growing global health concern that negatively affect physical health, psychological well-being, and quality of life. Non-pharmacological interventions are increasingly recommended due to the risks associated with long-term use of sleep medications in elderly populations. Lavender aromatherapy has emerged as a complementary therapy with potential benefits for improving sleep quality and reducing insomnia. This study aims to identify and analyze the effectiveness of lavender aromatherapy as a complementary intervention for managing sleep disorders in older adults. A systematic review design was employed using the PRISMA framework to identify relevant studies published between 2020 and 2025. Literature searches were conducted through Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and Portal Garuda databases using predefined keywords and inclusion criteria based on the PICOS framework. Seven eligible studies were included and analyzed narratively to evaluate intervention methods, duration, and outcomes related to sleep quality and insomnia severity. The findings indicate that lavender aromatherapy, either as a single intervention or combined with therapies such as music, acupressure, or massage, consistently improves sleep quality and reduces insomnia symptoms among older adults. The therapy is safe, cost-effective, and easily implemented in community and clinical settings. Overall, lavender aromatherapy is a promising complementary intervention that can be integrated into holistic geriatric and nursing care to support healthy aging and improve quality of life. Keywords: aromatherapy; complementary therapy; elderly; insomnia; lavender; sleep quality.

Abstract

Reproductive health literacy is an individual's ability to access, understand, assess, and apply information regarding reproductive functions and processes, which is expected to influence adolescent sexual behavior. This study aimed to determine the relationship between reproductive health literacy and the sexual behavior of middle adolescents. A quantitative research design with a correlational approach was employed, involving 137 respondents selected through accidental sampling. Data were collected using validated and reliable Likert-scale questionnaires for reproductive health literacy and sexual behavior. Data analysis was performed using the Fisher’s Exact Test. The results indicated that the majority of respondents possessed good reproductive health literacy (85.4%), while only a small percentage reported engaging in sexual behavior (1.5%). Statistical analysis yielded a p-value of 0.272 (p > 0.05). In conclusion, there is no significant relationship between reproductive health literacy and the sexual behavior of middle adolescents at SMA N 1 Cimalaka. Efforts to prevent risky sexual behavior include strengthening family roles, providing counseling, fostering positive social environments, monitoring media use, and encouraging participation in organized activities, sports, arts, and religious programs. Limitations of this study include a design that cannot establish causality and an imbalanced data distribution that may influence the analysis.

Abstract

Background: Post-stroke rehabilitation is an important process to help patients recover motor function and increase independence in daily activities. One way to recover after a stroke is through the use of electronic gloves. The success of this therapy can be determined by observing finger movement. If the fingers can move, the therapy is considered successful. This movement needs to be monitored using an Arduino-based device to assess its objectivity. Research Objective: To achieve this, it is necessary to develop a device that can monitor the progress of Arduino-based stroke therapy. Methods: The device design includes hardware and software design. The hardware design covers the necessary components, wiring, and device installation. The software design includes a flowchart and software development related to the device's operating principles. Results: An Arduino-based stroke monitoring device has been developed that monitors the development of finger movement resulting from the bending process

Abstract

Psoriasis is a chronic immune-mediated inflammatory disease characterized by keratinocyte hyperproliferation and persistent systemic inflammation, and is associated with genetic predisposition and metabolic comorbidities. Identifying its determinants is important to improve prevention and clinical management. This study aimed to analyze the association between age, body mass index (BMI), smoking history, family history of psoriasis, diabetes mellitus, and hypertension with the occurrence of psoriasis in outpatients at the Dermatology and Venereology Clinic of Royal Prima Hospital, Medan, from 2024 to 2025. This study used an analytical observational design with a retrospective case-control approach. A total of 210 respondents were included, consisting of 105 cases (patients diagnosed with psoriasis) and 105 controls (patients without psoriasis). Controls were selected from patients attending the same clinic during the same period without a diagnosis of psoriasis to ensure comparability and minimize selection bias. Data were obtained from medical records and analyzed using the Chi-square test and binary logistic regression. Bivariate analysis showed that age ≥45 years, BMI ≥25 kg/m², smoking history, family history of psoriasis, diabetes mellitus, and hypertension were significantly associated with psoriasis (p < 0.05). Multivariate analysis revealed that age ≥45 years (Adjusted OR = 1.85; 95% CI: 1.02–3.35; p = 0.042), BMI ≥25 kg/m² (Adjusted OR = 1.98; 95% CI: 1.09–3.61; p = 0.024), family history of psoriasis (Adjusted OR = 6.45; 95% CI: 2.82–14.75; p < 0.001), and diabetes mellitus (Adjusted OR = 2.41; 95% CI: 1.05–5.54; p = 0.037) remained significant predictors. Family history of psoriasis was identified as the most dominant determinant. These findings highlight the importance of early screening in high-risk individuals, particularly those with a family history of psoriasis and metabolic comorbidities, to support timely detection and improve clinical management. In conclusion, genetic and metabolic factors, along with age, are key determinants of psoriasis occurrence.

Abstract

The increasing number of older adults in Indonesia poses significant challenges to mental health, particularly regarding depression, loneliness, and diminished sense of meaning in later life. In a predominantly religious society, integrating developmental psychology with spiritual values is essential to support the psychological well-being of older adults. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of a mental health psychoeducation program integrating developmental psychology and Islamic values in improving participants’ understanding of meaningful aging. A quantitative pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach was employed involving 37 older adult participants. Data were collected using knowledge questionnaires administered before and after the intervention and were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test due to non-normal data distribution. The findings revealed a statistically significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores (p < 0.05), with a mean increase of 17.03 points and a very large effect size (r=0.88). These results indicate that psychoeducation integrating clinical-developmental psychology and Islamic spirituality is effective in enhancing mental health literacy among older adults and has the potential to support ego integrity and psychological well-being. This model offers practical implications for developing holistic and culturally contextualized community-based mental health programs for older populations.

Abstract

Schizophrenia is a chronic mental disorder that requires long-term treatment to prevent relapse and maintain quality of life. However, non-adherence to treatment remains a major challenge, which can lead to worsening clinical conditions, increased rates of relapse and readmission, and decreased overall function. Several psychosocial factors influence treatment adherence in schizophrenia patients, including patient attitudes, motivation, support from healthcare professionals, and family support. This study aims to determine factors associated with treatment adherence in schizophrenia patients at the Kedaton Community Health Center in Bandar Lampung in 2026. This study used a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 83 respondents with schizophrenia were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Univariate analysis was conducted to describe the frequency distribution of respondent characteristics and study variables, while bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test was used to determine the relationship between variables. The results showed that in terms of psychosocial factors, 61.4% of respondents had a positive attitude, 65.1% had low motivation, 62.7% received high support from health workers, and 57.8% received good family support. The level of fulfillment of the service was assessed as high (36.1%), moderate (33.7%), and low (30.1%). Bivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between attitude, motivation, support from health workers, and family support with medication adherence in schizophrenia patients (p < 0.05). This study is based on the PRECEDE–PROCEED model, which explains that health behavior is influenced by predisposing factors (attitude and motivation) and reinforcing factors (family and health worker support). Strengthening psychosocial support is very important to improve medication adherence in schizophrenia patients.

Abstract

This study develops an E-Practice–based practicum management model to foster active, product-oriented learning through teacher–student collaboration in junior high schools (SMP) in Bondowoso, Indonesia. The work responds to persistent challenges in conventional classroom practices, limited collaborative scaffolding, and the lack of systematic progress monitoring and authentic assessment in project-based settings. A Research and Development (R&D) approach was employed, including literature review and needs analysis, system design using UML (use case, sequence, class, and activity diagrams), application development, expert validation, and limited field testing. The E-Practice platform is implemented as a responsive web system with a three-tier architecture and role-based interfaces (teacher, student, administrator). Core functionalities include project authoring, task management, evidence/document uploads, discussion and feedback spaces, real-time progress tracking, and an integrated rubric-based assessment separating academic achievement, collaboration, and Pancasila Student Profile (P5) dimensions. The platform also provides project dashboards, full-project data recapitulation, and data visualization to support reflection and data-driven decision making. The development results indicate that E-Practice can systematically integrate PBL project management with P5 character reinforcement in a structured, transparent, and well-documented workflow, strengthening the feasibility of sustainable project-based learning implementation in schools
