Abstract

Medicinal plants are very popular among the people of Indonesia as traditional medicinal ingredients. Traditional medicine is a means of supporting public health for generations, long before formal health services and modern medicines touched the layers of society. One of the medicinal plants which is efficacious as a medicine for diarrhea is matenasi leaf (Garcinia sp). Diarrhea is an infectious disease that often occurs in Indonesia due to Escherichia coli bacteria. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of methanol extract using the paper disc diffusion method which is dripped with 10 µl of the test solution using a micro pipette. The concentrations of the methanol extract used were 50%, 75%, and 100% compared to the positive control, namely 30 µl chloramphenicol solution. Matenasi leaves using methanol extract have strong antibacterial activity at a concentration of 100%. For Staphylococcus aureus bacteria with a concentration of 100% with a diameter of 22.67 mm (very strong category), Escherichia coli bacteria with a concentration of 100% with a diameter of 18.25 mm (strong category). The methanol extract of matenasi leaves has the potential as an antibacterial against Stapylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria.

Abstract

Red Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) belongs to the Punicaceae family which contains anthocyanins. The color of the pomegranate is caused by flavanoids, namely anthocyanins. Anthocyanins are pigments that can be used as natural dyes and can replace synthetic dyes. This study aims to measure the absorption optimization of red pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) on chicken oral epithelial smears as an alternative stain for eosin in Papanicolaou staining. This type of research is a laboratory study. This chicken mouth swab sample was carried out 7 treatments per five fields of view, with variations in concentration, namely, Pure/mother solution, dilutions of 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, 1:4, 1:5, and Papanicolauo's solution as a comparison. The results showed that dilutions of 1:3, 1:4, 1:5 with a mean rank value (14.00) obtained the lowest results, while the results that were closest to the reference solutions were dilutions of 1:1, 1:2 with a mean rank value ( 17.00) whereas the staining using the Papanicolaou solution/comparison obtained the mean rank value (33.00). The conclusion of the results of this study was that the staining of the preparations was stained but not the same as the control or significantly different 0.001 ≤ 0.016.

Abstract

Disease vectors are organisms that carry pathogenic viruses or bacteria and parasites from infected hosts to other hosts. Vector communicable diseases are influenced by the physical, biologica, and socio-cultural environment. Mosquitoes, fleas, and flies are vectors of infectious disease carriers. These vectors carry infectious diseases such as malaria, filariasis, bubonic plague, typhus, and diarrhea. One of the vectors that cause diarrhea is the fly. The presence of flies can be an indication of poor hygiene. This study aims to determine the description of waste management and the density level of flies in traditional markets in Kupang City. The type of research is a descriptive survey. The samples were the yellow troops and market managers at the Inpres, Kasih, and Oeba Market. The analysis was carried out using the SPSS application. The results of the study indicate that taste management in the Kupang City Traditional Market is not fully effective on average.

Abstract

Epidemiology is a science that studies the distribution, frequency and determinants/factors that influence the incidence of disease or health problems in population groups. Epidemiology of infectious diseases can be caused by interactions between disease causes, hosts and the environment either directly or indirectly which can result in morbidity or death in groups of people/populations. Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever is an infectious disease caused by the Dengue virus and the Aedes aegypti mosquito as its main vector. Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever is characterized by the main clinical manifestations of high fever, hemorrhagic phenomena, often with hepatomegaly and in severe cases there are signs of circulatory failure. The purpose of this study is to determine changes in the epidemiology of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in Indonesia in 2017-2021. This type of research is a quantitative descriptive research. The data used in this research is secondary data. Based on the research results, it is known that the epidemiological changes of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in Indonesia in 2017 were (26.10%), in 2018 there were (24.75%), in 2019 there were (51.53%), in 2020 there were (40 .0%) and in 2021 (27.0%). Based on the results of the data collected, the total number of provinces in Indonesia in 2017-2021 is 34 provinces. Based on the results of this study, it shows that changes and increases in Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) increased dramatically in 2018 with an incidence rate of 51.53%.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is one of the diseases that need to be lookout into since its prevalence is continuously increasing. Approximately 98% of the total Diabetes Mellitus cases are type 2 diabetes mellitus. The prevalence number nearly increases significantly at the age of 45 and above. Hence, it is crucial to take preventive action at an earlier age. East Java is one of the 5 provinces with the highest diabetes mellitus prevalence. The city with the highest diabetes mellitus prevalence is Madiun which reached 5.33% prevalence. Diabetes mellitus prevalence in the Taman district is also increasing every year. This research aims to understand the relationship between educational level, knowledge, age, and family health history with diabetes mellitus and the preventive action of type 2 diabetes mellitus in young adult age in Taman district, Madiun. This research used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional research design. The sample was 110 respondents aged 20-40, residing in Taman district, Madiun. This research also used a random sampling technique. The independent variables were educational level, knowledge, age, and family health history with diabetes mellitus, while the dependent variable was the preventive action of type 2 diabetes mellitus. The data were then analyzed by using a chi-square statistical test. This research shows there was no significant relationship between educational level, knowledge, and age to the preventive action of type 2 diabetes mellitus (p-value > 0.05). However, there is a significant relationship between family health history with diabetes mellitus to the preventive action of type 2 diabetes mellitus (p-value < 0.05).

Abstract

Developmental problems in children in Indonesia and in developing countries are generally caused by two things, namely poor nutritional conditions and infectious diseases. The high number of Upper Respiratory Tract Infection (URTI) is caused by one of the factors that must also be known by the public is the nutritional status including malnutrition. This study aims to find the correlation between of nutritional status with the incidence of ispa in toddlers in the tompaso health center of minahasa regency. This research used quantitative with a cross sectional approach. Sampling in this study using the Purposive Sampling method obtained the number of samples as many as 100 respondents. The study was conducted by calcilating of z-score nutritional status of toddlers according to WHO and according to health professional assesment. The data analyzed using the Chi-square test. of the study based on nutritional status characteristics obtained malnutrition as many as 8 toddlers, malnutrition as many as 10 toddlers, then the characteristics of ARI were obtained who temporarily experienced ARI as many as 12 toddlers and those who did not or had previously experienced ARI as many as 6 toddlers. Based on the characteristics of the nutritional status of children under five in the working area of the Delitua Health Center, Deli Serdang Regency, they are in the good nutrition category, the incidence of ISPA in children under five at the Tompaso Health Center, Kab. Minahasa is in the category of temporarily experiencing ARI. There is a relationship between nutritional status and the incidence of ARI in toddlers at the Delitua Health Center, Deli Serdang Regency

Abstract

The rapid growth of hospitals will lead to competition between hospitals.  Hospital will compete to increase their competitiveness to gain and maintain its market. Based on the results of an initial survey of 6 out of 10 ipatents of the islamic hospital  Ibnu Sina Payakumbuh, understand what is being debated at the hospital today is the outcome quality, whice include service quality problem where the nurse did not do check ups sistematically and effectivelly, and doctor who did not come to visit on time. And there are 5 out of 10 patients at Ibnu Sina Hospital Payakumbuh who said that about peer to peer quality needed is communication between patients in the room, the information obtained is less effective, and the benefits that can be lacking. This research is a quantitative study with cross sectional design using primary data and secondary data. The sample collection technique used is the proportional statified random sampling technique. The results showed no influence on outcame quality on patient satisfaction. And there is a significant relation between peer to peer quality and patient satisfaction. The conclusion of this study is the outcome quality has no influence on patient satisfaction. Peer to peer quality affects patient satisfaction. The suggestion from this study is that the hospital must pay attention to the positive correlation of outcome quality and it is recommended that the hospital maintain peer to peer quality for patients, and further researchers are expected to increase the number of research samples and more detailed questionnaire questions.

Abstract

Service quality is a very unique event, because there are dimensions and indicators that can differ among the people involved in the service. Service quality is inseparable from the level of perfection of health services in meeting a need and every demand of every use of the service. This study aims to determine the effect of service quality on family planning patient satisfaction at the Sulamu Health Center in 2021. This study used a quantitative research method with a cross-sectional study design. The research was conducted at the Sulamu Health Center from December 2021- October 2022. The population in this study was 515 patients. The number of samples in this study were taken using the slovin formula, namely 225 patients.sampling technique is accidental sampling technique. The results showed that there was an effect of the quality of health services on the satisfaction of family planning patients seen from the dimensions of physical evidence at the Sulamu Health Center, which was a sig 0.000, there was an effect of the quality of health services on the satisfaction of family planning patients, seen from the reliability dimension at the Sulamu Health Center was a sig 0.000 , there is an effect of the quality of health services on patient satisfaction with family planning seen from the dimension of responsiveness at the Sulamu Health Center which is a sig 0.941, there is an effect of the quality of health services on patient satisfaction with family planning seen from the dimensions of guarantees at the Sulamu Health Center there is a sig value of 0.004, there is an influence the quality of health services on family planning patient satisfaction seen from the dimensions of empathy at the Sulamu Health Center is a sig value of 0.100.

Abstract

The use of antibiotics is important to note because antibiotics are a class of hard drugs. Resistance is a problem that arises due to inappropriate use of antibiotics. Knowledge of the use of antibiotics is an important factor in overcoming the problem of resistance. This study aims to determine the level of knowledge of the community in RW 02, Menang village, Ponorogo regency, based on the use of antibiotics. The research is descriptive research with a sampling technique, namely quota sampling. The research instrument used a questionnaire with validity and reliability tests. The sample is a respondent based on inclusion criteria with 90 respondents. The results show that the level of knowledge of respondents with good, sufficient, and poor knowledge is 10%, 74%, and 16%, respectively. The knowledge assessment used questionnaire indicators regarding the general description of antibiotics was 55%, knowledge based on how to obtain antibiotics was 59%, knowledge based on the rules for using antibiotics was 59%, knowledge regarding the side effects of antibiotics was 72%, and knowledge regarding managing antibiotics was 60%. The conclusion is the level of knowledge of the majority of the community in RW 02, Menang village, Ponorogo regency, regarding the use of antibiotics is classified as a sufficient level of knowledge.

Abstract

Stress is the fourth most common noncommunicable disease in the world. Because stress has so many harmful consequences, the body defends itself as the coping stress mechanism. Emotional eating are eating behaviors that aren’t triggered by physical hunger, but as a result of certain emotional impulses. Emotional eating can lead to weight gain, which can lead to chronic illness till the end. Analyzing the relationship between stress levels and the prevalence of emotional eating in extension students of the Faculty of Public Health, University of Indonesia. This study used a quantitative design with a cross-sectional research method and correlation test with a 95% confidence level ( = 0.05). According to research findings, the majority of respondents (46.4%) experienced moderate emotional eating (32 of 69 respondents). In terms of stress, the majority of the correspondents who were studying and working reported a normal stress level of 33.3%. (23 out of 69 respondents). The relationship between the level of stress and the incidence of emotional eating in Extension Students FKM UI obtained a coefficient value of 0.398 with a p-value of 0.001, indicating that the two variables have a moderately strong positive relationship. There is a relation between stress levels and the incidence of emotional eating in extension students at the University of Indonesia's Faculty of Public Health.
