Abstract

Knowing the role of school supervisors and knowing the causes of the low quality of education at SDN Lancong, Sungai Mas District as the purpose of this study. In accordance with Government Number 25 of 2000 concerning Central and Provincial Authorities as autonomous regions, it has prompted major changes in the education management sistem in Indonesia, one of which is at SDN Lancong. The causes of the low quality of education are 4 factors at SDN Lancong with a fishbone diagram, including: 1) Human/HR; 2) Environment; 3) Method; 4) Material. The results of the analysis carried out by strategies to improve the quality of education at SDN Lancong include the role of supervisors who understand their main duties and functions, hold an interesting learning sistem with technology media in increasing interest in learning and every month a learning evaluation is carried out, besides using a clean room. and convenient for students to study, repair or buy learning tools with technological advances such as using infocus, as well as facilitating Lancong Elementary School with Wi-Fi. Next Conduct special training for teachers and school supervisors for the development of creative and innovative learning methods in teaching. In addition, there is a need for further socialization or teaching training according to the 2013 curriculum which is applied with appropriate learning time arrangements, besides being able to use learning with teaching aid technology.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using genetic button media in increasing student activity and learning outcomes in Mendel's law. Learning media are materials, tools, and methods/techniques used in teaching and learning activities so that the process of educative communication interaction between teachers and students can take place effectively. This study uses qualitative methods obtained from observations of student activity in the teaching and learning process and quantitative methods obtained from students’ pre-test and post-test results. The results showed an increase in student activity from 41% to 75% and an increase in the percentage of students who obtained a complete score from 50% to 75%.

Abstract

This study aims to explain and describe the cultural elements contained in an Indonesian short story entitled Kutukan Keturunan Bajak Laut by Bagus Sulistio as Indonesian language teaching material for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) level C1 and C2. The subject of this research is a short story entitle Kutukan Keturunan Bajak Laut by Bagus Sulistio. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach to systematically describe phenomena, namely cultural elements as BIPA teaching materials. Data collection techniques used reading-note techniques, literature study, and data cards. This research shows that the short story Kutukan Keturunan Bajak Laut by Bagus Sulistio contains cultural elements in the form of language, knowledge system, livelihood system, religious system and art. Elements of culture can be used as teaching materials or as an introduction to culture, especially maritime culture as a support for the language skills of BIPA teachers.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to discover how to improve PKn learning outcomes using the STAD (Student Teams Achievement Division) cooperative learning method. STAD is a Cooperative Learning approach that emphasizes activities and interactions between students in order to motivate and assist one another in mastering the subject matter. This study employs three action research cycles, each of which has four stages: design, activities and observations, reflection, and revision. Formative test results and observation sheets of teaching and learning activities were used to collect data. The results showed that there was an increase from cycle I to cycle III, with cycle I increasing by up to 68.2 percent, cycle II increasing by up to 81.58 percent, and cycle III increasing by up to 94.74 percent. As a result, for the 2018-2019 school year, the STAD cooperative learning method can have a positive effect on the achievement and learning motivation of Class V students at SDN 8 Darul Hikmah. As a result, this learning model can be used as an alternative for Civics education.

Abstract

This paper discusses the philosophy of progressivism in the Indonesian language education curriculum. Education development in Indonesia cannot be separated from various foundations, especially in the flow of philosophy in implementing education. One of them is the educational philosophy of progressivism which underlies various aspects of education. For this reason, it is necessary to study how the philosophy of progressivism has contributed to the Indonesian language education curriculum. This research is a descriptive qualitative method. The research was conducted using library research by searching for previous literature. The research was conducted by examining relevant references related to the philosophy of language, the philosophy of progressivism, and the language education curriculum in Indonesia. The results show that the philosophy of progressivism contributes to the language curriculum, starting from the syllabus, methodology, strategies for dealing with individual differences, assessment, research, and evaluation. In addition, the development of philosophical thinking about language affects the practice of language teaching in Indonesia, namely the existence of Indonesian language teaching based on traditional linguistics, structural linguistics, and systemic functional linguistics.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of applying the example non example learning model in learning to write narrative essays in class VII students of SMP IT Nurul Ikhwah, Nagan Raya. The informants of this study were 20 female class VII students. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach to the type of research, classroom action research (CAR). The design of PTK includes the steps of planning, action, observation, and reflection using two cycles. Data collection techniques used in this study were observation and tests. Observation or observation is a data collection method used to collect research data through observation and sensing. The test is a data collection instrument to measure students' abilities in cognitive aspects or the level of mastery of learning material. The use of examples non examples learning models is very effective in learning to write student narrative essays, in addition to higher student activity when the learning process takes place, student scores also increase after using the examples non examples learning model. This can be seen from the grade VII students of SMP IT Nurul Ikhwah who can meet the minimum completeness criteria which is higher than the assignment to write descriptive essays without using an example non example model. Before using the example non example model, there were 11 students out of 20 students who did not meet the minimum completeness criteria, after using the model, there were 3 students out of 20 who did not pass.

Abstract

Games as learning media have not received a portion of attention in the world of education. This paper aims to explain that through game-based group services can foster an attitude of tolerance. The study is based on a qualitative research type with data sources in the form of observation and literature studies. The study findings show that playing Uno is considered capable of forming an attitude of tolerance through group counseling services. The UNO game with a group counseling service approach is considered capable of forming an attitude of tolerance. This can be seen from the UNO game process which contains the value of togetherness and respect for differences. In group counseling, the UNO card simulation game technique is an alternative to foster tolerance in diversity. The UNO card simulation game by forming a circle can increase intimacy, unity and kinship between members. The discussion process that is built in this technique is considered to be able to train individuals to control themselves, respect and respect various differences of opinion. Thus, playing UNO in groups can form an attitude of togetherness and tolerance for cultural, religious and ethnic differences. This study suggests the need to use games in building an attitude of tolerance, especially in the process of multicultural learning in educational institutions.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using audio-visual media on learning at MTsN 3 Aceh Barat. The method that researchers use in this study is a quantitative method. Data collection methods used are interview methods, observation methods, questionnaire methods and documentation methods. The number of samples was 2 classes, namely class 8c and 8e, which were taken using the Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling technique. The hypothesis in this study (H0) is that the use of audio-visual media affects learning at MTsN 3 in West Aceh. While the hypothesis (H1) is the use of audio-visual media does not affect learning at MTsN 3 in West Aceh. Based on the results of the research, the correlation coefficient on the results above shows 0.673 or is negative so that the relationship between the variables is in a different direction. This can be interpreted that the audio-visual media factor will not affect the learning conditions at MTsN 3 Aceh Barat. With a significance of 0.673> 0.05 that audio-visual media has no significant relationship with learning conditions at MTsN 3 Aceh Barat.

Abstract

The use of peer assessment in EFL teaching is increasing due to the focus shift from teacher-centered to student-centered approach. However, factors such as attitudes, motivation, language proficiency and relationship bias are believed to contribute to the effectiveness of peer assessment. This paper aims to analyze how the factors affect the effectiveness of peer assessment implementation in EFL teaching. The method used to analyze is a literature review by examining fifteen prior studies of peer assessment use in EFL context. It is found that there are three factors that affect the effectiveness of peer assessment implementation in EFL setting, which are students’ attitude and motivation, students’ English proficiency, and students’ relationship-bias. All these three factors can be interfered with teacher supports such as by describing the benefits of peer assessment to students, pairing the students with same-level of English proficiency, and applying anonymous evaluation. It is suggested that these three factors need to be carefully considered by teachers in EFL context in order to achieve the success of peer assessment implementation.

Abstract

Teachers have an important role in the habituation of the implementation of Islamic teachings. Islamic Religious Education aims to prepare pious individuals who carry out Islamic religious teachings, and to prepare individuals who understand Islam (mutafaqqih fiddin). This study aims to find out the role and strategy of the fiqh teacher in increasing the activity of congregational prayers at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 1 Kulon Progo, D.I. Yogyakarta. This study used a descriptive qualitative research method. The subjects of this study were Head of MAN 1 Kulon Progo, Fiqh teachers of MAN 1 Kulon Progo, and the students of MAN 1 Kulon Progo. Data collection was carried out by observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation to complement the data obtained from observations and interviews. The data validation was used source triangulation and technical triangulation, while data analysis was carried out by data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the research show that the role of the fiqh teacher in the activeness of congregational prayers of MAN 1 Kulon Progo students is as an activator, someone who encourages students to pray in congregation; and the fiqh teacher also acts as a companion for students in conducting congregational prayers. The strategy of the fiqh teacher in increasing the activity of congregational prayers of MAN 1 Kulon Progo students are the fiqh teacher applies the habituation method; special guidance methods; and the teacher has not applied the method of punishment or sanctions.
