Abstract

This paper discussed the motives of wearing niqab among Muslim women. Most of Muslim women wear niqab because of religious motives. However, the development of niqab recently brings up a variety of colours and models. This diversity indicates different motives among Muslim women in wearing niqab. Surveying IAIN Surakarta’s students who wear niqab, this research elaborated the relationship between their motives of wearing niqab and their understanding of Islamic teaching about niqab. The research found that even though the main motive to wear niqab is to observe religious teaching, IAIN Surakarta’s students who wear niqab also consider the practice for safety reasons. They also realize that wearing niqab is not an obligation in Islam and follow schools which consider it as preferable (sunah).

Abstract

Sebagai pegangan hidup segenap kaum muslim, Islam memberikan petunjuk umum yang bisa mengarahkan kehidupan mereka ke arah yang benar menurut doktrin agama. Dalam hal ini, Islam menjelaskan tentang ritus-ritus keagamaan yang bisa mengantarkan para pelakunya ke arah kebaikan dan kesejahteraan hidup mereka. Tidak dapat dipungkiri kenyataannya, berbagai ritus dalam doktrin ajaran Islam akan membawa pelakunya mengerti hakikat sakral dan profan dalam kehidupan.Artikel ini menyajikan beberapa pola utama aspek- aspek ritual Islam. Dari pembahasan pada kajian ini pula masing-masing pribadi muslim diarahkan kepada pengetahuan mereka akan nilai-nilai luhur akidah Islamiyah yang mewujud dari ritus-ritus keagamaan yang diwujudkan. Eksistensi ritus keislaman yang akan diuraikan pada artikel ini sepenuhnya diarahkan kepada pola perkembangan ritus, dasar perwujudan ritus, dan implikasi logis ritus keislaman bagi pelakunya. Abstract

Digital era, smartphone gives birth to a new culture for its users. The news is true and the hoax is going back and forth on social media. The religious behavior between the servant and his Lord should be private and not become a private matter with evidence of the display of ritual worship on social media. Worship should be performed specifically and privately, starting to be displayed through a smartphone and can be consumed by the general public. The purpose of this research is to determine the function of a smartphone when it is clashed with the theory of sincere worship during the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era. This paper uses a closed interview technique with a questionnaire, and documentation to reveal how the theory of worship should be carried out, the sincere theory that has been defined by the salaf scholars and how the translation of Muslims in the digital age. The subject of this paper is a lecturer in Islamic Education (PAI) at the Walisongo State Islamic University (UIN) Semarang. The results of this paper indicate that PAI lecturers actively use smartphones, but do not pay attention to the content of the post ofworship mahdhah with more evidence of abstention.

Abstract

Islam adalah agama misi yang diwahyukan Allah swt., kepada Rasul-Nya, Nabi Muhammad saw. Dalam perjalanannya pula, Islam berjalan beriringan dengan dinamika kehidupan umat sehingga menjadikannya kadang dipertentangkan dan di diteladani. Plus minus keberadaan ini tidak menjadikan Islam surut dalam usahanya mengentaskan keberadaban umat manusia. Islam terus menjalankan misi sucinya dengan memberikan uraian keilmiahan hidup sehingga pada akhirnya masyarakat mulai mengerti akan hakikat dari keharmonisan hidup bersama dalam lintasan keyakinan. Tuntutan utama yang diajarkan oleh Islam adalah menyadarkan masyarakat akan arti penting tradisi sebagai perekat utama doktrin keislaman dengan perjuangan Rasulullah saw. Tradisi dalam Islam dengan pengertian akan eksistensi keanekaragaman sosial, budaya, dan bahkan agama itu sendiri menjadikan Islam sebagai jalan tengah bagi masyarakat. Islam memberikan beberapa deskripsi realistis tentang hakikat hidup setiap pribadi yang mustahil dinafikkan kebersandarannya kepada nilai-nilai suci masing-masing agama. Di atas kenyataan inilah, tuntutan untuk menghadirkan harmoni Islam sebagai pemersatu kehidupan umat niscaya dikedepankan. Abstract

This article discusses religious harmony in Pati, Central Java, related to mosques and churches in one location. This harmony was awakening through the combination of the sound of church bells and the sound of the recitation in the mosque using loudspeakers to create harmony between the two houses of worship. Purposing of this article was to narrate and discuss the harmony that occurred in Pati by conducting interviews with Catholic religious leaders, Muslim religious leaders, and residents of Arab, indigenous, and Chinese descent. This study focuses on three questions (a) How are religious symbols in religious harmony; (b) How to build harmony with religious symbols in the form of church bells and adhan); (c) How the Subuh orchestra as a symbolic sacred call for people who perform rituals in the mosque called the call to prayer and in churches use church bells to signify the morning sacrament. The result of this research was that religious people build religious harmony through the dawn of this orchestra, making this simple culture a unifying tool for diversity in society.

Abstract

In this contemporary life, television becomes an effective media of the da’wa or proliferation. The flourishing some of Islamic programs also effects to the order of the religious public life in Indonesian society. Using the descriptive analytical research, this essay investigates the process of religious proliferation program who become popular in society. It is started from the objective of some television channel to show “kuliah subuh”, a religious speech from an expert people that understand about Islamic religion or ustad after the dawn. Then the writer tries to find an effect of the media especially television to the audiences from the message of the program and their daily life expressions. Finally, “kuliah subuh” appears as a mediated religion which produces certain effects on religion in order to adapt it to television formats. It make the birth of transformations and paradoxes within the institutional model of religiosity.

Abstract

This article aims to see the traditions associated with the existence of the Absolute which will give birth to a unique and distinctive ritual system in the ritual of ruwatan dreadlocks in Dieng. Perception of myths and cultural phenomena with a sublimated perspective and is an innovation for the central tradition in the Ngayogyokarto Hadiningrat Palace. There was a "movement" of the central culture that pulled over (periphery) and manifested itself into a "religious" ritual carried out by the community. The problem that arises is how the ritual tradition of ruwatan dreadlocks is interpreted as a religiosity that is not practiced in the palace, as well as what it means for the people of Dieng. Data were collected using participatory observation methods, in-depth interviews, document studies, and focus group discussions. The analysis uses techniques of deep analysis by applying the perspective rites of passage from Arnold van Gennep and Victor Turner. Mempersepsi mitos dan fenomena budaya dengan cara pandang yang mengalami sublimasi dan merupakan inovasi bagi tradisi pusat di kraton. Terjadi “gerak” budaya pusat yang menepi (periferi) dan termanifestasi menjadi sebuah ritual “religius” yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat. Persoalan yang muncul adalan bagaimana tradisi ritual ruwatan rambut gimbal dimaknai sebagai sebuah religiusitas yang tidak dilakukan di pusat tradisi (kraton), serta bagaimana makna bagi masyarakat Dieng. Dengan menggunakan perspektif rites of passage artikel berikut ini menguraikan fenomena tersebut. Hasil dan analisis adalah adanya kompromi positif antara konsep kesucian dengan konsep-konsep yang lebih duniawi seperti kepentingan ekonomi (pariwisata) yang merupakan bentuk reagregasi budaya di Dieng.Kata kunci: Dieng, periferi, rambut gimbal, ritus peralihan

Abstract

Disepakati Pancasila sebagai dasar NKRI tidaklah melalui jalan mulus. Para founding father berdiskusi sampai terjadi debat intelektual seru yang menyebabkan mereka hampir berada di ambang perpecahan. Akhirnya disepakati Piagam Jakarta yang di dalamnya memuat Pancasila sebagai dasar negara. Ternyata dengan Piagam Jakarta tidak lantas menyurutkan perselisihan, terutama berkaitan dengan statemen ketuhanan dengan menjalankan syariat Islam bagi pemeluk-pemeluknya. Kemudian dicapai solusi harmonis yang mempertimbangkan sensitivitas pluralitas di Indonesia dan statemen di atas tergantikan dengan pernyataan Ketuhanan Yang Maha Esa.Yang terjadi kini, semenjak lengser pemerintahan Orde Baru dan ditabuh genderang reformasi seakan-akan telah menjadi momentum bagi bangsa Indonesia untuk mengaktualisasikan diri sebebasnya yang sebelumnya terpasung di bawah sendi-sendi otoritarianisme. Momentum itu dimanfaatkan oleh sekelompok muslim tertentu yang tidak disadari justru menyulut kembali api permusuhan melalui ungkapan yang disuarakannya, seperti: dirikan khilafah Islamiyah, kembali kepada Islam kāffah, dan seterusnya. Tampaknya atau jangan-jangan mereka ini lupa sejarah terbentuknya Pancasila sebagai dasar negara.Dalam kerangka hermeneutika, Pancasila adalah teks yang dibentuk dan disepakati  para founding father, disampaikan kepada bangsa Indonesia, baik yang muslim maupun non muslim; tetapi setelah Pancasila sampai kepada bangsa Indonesia, para founding father tidak bisa mengendalikan sepenuhnya agar bangsa Indonesia mengikuti pembacaan yang diinginkannya. Kenyataannya bangsa Indonesia meresponnya berbeda sesuai dengan pra-pemahamannya masing-masing meskipun  sama-sama berasal dari kelompok muslim sendiri. Namun demikian sampai sekarang, Pancasila tetap sakti dan tegak di Indonesia. Itu karena kekuatan dan peran masyarakat Indonesia secara keseluruhan, bukan yang lain.
