Abstract

This research aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of fourth-grade students' persuasive writing skills through environmental posters at MI Ihyaussalafiyah. The primary focus is to investigate how students transform direct field observations into systematic and coherent text structures. This encompasses the ability to identify environmental issues, construct logical arguments, and employ effective persuasive vocabulary to influence readers. The study employs a qualitative case study method involving 16 fourth-grade students as subjects. Data were collected using the "observation and note-taking" (simak dan catat) technique to capture detailed writing processes. The data were then analyzed interactively using "identity and distributional" (padan dan agih) methods to comprehensively evaluate the situational context and linguistic structures produced by the students. The results indicate that field observations serve as highly effective empirical stimuli in triggering students' creative writing ideas. Students were able to transform environmental realities—such as leaking faucets and waste accumulation in the school area—into rational arguments and compelling calls to action. Writing assessment scores ranged from 76 to 92, placing students in the "Excellent" category, particularly in their ability to integrate textual messages with visual illustrations on posters. In conclusion, the use of environmental poster media has been proven to enhance persuasive writing skills and support the application of deep learning principles, including mindful, meaningful, and joyful learning. This media is highly effective as a pedagogical tool for developing systematic, critical, and contextual writing skills for elementary-level students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Artificial Intelligence technology on Arabic language learning outcomes among tenth-grade Madrasah Aliyah students. This research employed a quantitative, quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control-group model. The research data consisted of students’ learning outcome scores from tests administered before and after the treatment, while the data sources were the students themselves as research respondents. The study population consisted of all tenth-grade students at MAN Pacitan, and the sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The sample consisted of two classes: an experimental class that received AI-based learning and a control class that received conventional instruction. Data collection techniques included learning outcome tests, observation, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using inferential statistics, beginning with prerequisite tests of normality and homogeneity, followed by an independent-samples t-test to determine differences in learning outcomes between the two groups. The results indicated a significant difference between students taught using Artificial Intelligence technology and those taught using conventional methods. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of Artificial Intelligence technology has a positive, significant effect on students’ Arabic learning outcomes.

Abstract

Based on the analysis results, it can be concluded that the discourse in the Mata Najwa podcast episode “Kuliah, Kerja, dan Kenyataan” (College, Work, Reality) contains six types of presuppositions according to George Yule's classification, namely existential, factual, non-factual, lexical, structural, and counterfactual presuppositions. Among the data analyzed, existential and factual presuppositions are the most dominant. The dominance of these two types of presuppositions shows that the discussion in this podcast relies heavily on assumptions about the existence of social entities and conditions that are taken for granted by the speakers and their interlocutors, such as students, college graduates, educational institutions, and the realities of the working world. This suggests that the speakers construct their arguments and views by drawing on collective experiences and the audience's general knowledge. Thus, this study confirms that presuppositions play an important role in effective communication, clarifying the meaning of speech and deepening the discourse in podcasts, a medium for public discussion that is dialogical, reflective, and contextual. As a recommendation, further research is suggested to examine other episodes or different discourse media in order to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of the patterns of assumption use. In addition, further research can also use a critical discourse analysis approach to examine. As a recommendation, further research is advised to examine other episodes or different discursive media in order to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of the patterns of presupposition use. In addition, future research could use a critical discourse analysis approach to examine the role of preconceptions in shaping ideology and power relations in media discourse, or apply a contextual-pragmatic approach to understand the relationship between preconceptions and the social context and communication situation.

Abstract

Writing skills are one of the essential language competencies in Indonesian language learning because they are closely related to students’ critical, logical, and systematic thinking abilities. Through writing activities, students are not only expected to express their ideas in written form but also to organize their thoughts coherently and apply appropriate language rules according to academic contexts. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design aimed at analyzing the use of standard vocabulary in observation report texts written by tenth-grade students of SMAN 1 Kunto Darussalam, Rokan Hulu. The research data consisted of observation report texts with a sample of 30 students. Data were collected through documentation and observation, while data analysis involved identifying non-standard words and classifying errors based on affixation, reduplication, and compounding according to EBI sixth edition. The results showed that students still frequently used non-standard words influenced by everyday spoken language, limited understanding of standard spelling rules, and lack of structured writing practice. Therefore, continuous guidance is needed to improve students’ accuracy in using standard vocabulary.

Abstract

This study examines the representation of love in Zaynab by Muhammad Husain Haykal through the triadic structure of love. The research departs from the assumption that love in the novel is not merely portrayed as romantic attachment but as a relational configuration shaped by personal emotion and socio-cultural constraints. Using a qualitative descriptive method with textual analysis, this study identifies and categorizes narrative evidence into three dimensions: intimacy, passion, and commitment. The findings reveal that intimacy is constructed through emotional openness, secrecy, and psychological attachment, while passion appears in intense affective reactions and longing. However, commitment is predominantly formed through familial authority and social obligation rather than mutual emotional choice. This imbalance among the three dimensions prevents the realization of a harmonious love structure and results in psychological conflict and narrative tragedy. The study demonstrates that love in Zaynab by Muhammad Husain Haykal operates as a complex relational structure in which cultural norms significantly influence emotional experience. By analyzing the interaction among intimacy, passion, and commitment, this research highlights how socio-cultural pressures reshape personal affection and contribute to the tragic development of the protagonist.

Abstract

The Abbasid period (750–1258 CE) represents one of the most significant phases in the development of Arabic literary and intellectual traditions. During this period, Arabic literature flourished through the extensive use of rhetorical and balaghah techniques, enriching both its aesthetic and philosophical dimensions. This study aims to analyze how rhetorical and balaghah elements were applied in Arabic literary works of the Abbasid era and to examine their role in conveying social, moral, and intellectual meanings. The research employs a qualitative approach through textual analysis of selected works by prominent Abbasid authors, including al-Jahiz, al-Mutanabbi, and al-Buhturi. The analysis focuses on identifying rhetorical devices such as tasybih (simile), isti‘arah (metaphor), majaz (figurative expression), and rhetorical argumentation within the selected texts. The findings reveal that rhetorical and balaghah techniques function not only as stylistic devices for beautifying language but also as important tools for constructing persuasive discourse, expressing philosophical reflections, and articulating social and cultural values within Abbasid society. In particular, the poetry of al-Mutanabbi demonstrates a strong use of metaphorical and rhetorical structures to emphasize themes of honor and power. At the same time, al-Jahiz's prose works illustrate how rhetorical argument can convey intellectual ideas about knowledge and wisdom. These findings confirm that rhetorical creativity played a central role in shaping the intellectual and aesthetic character of Abbasid literature. The study contributes to classical Arabic literary scholarship by providing a contextual interpretation of rhetorical practices and highlighting the relationship between language, literature, and intellectual culture in the Abbasid period.
