Abstract

Adolescence is a developmental phase that is particularly vulnerable to deviant behavior. The rising incidence of student misconduct, such as school fights, drug misuse, and risky sexual behavior, underscores the need to strengthen legal awareness early to safeguard young people’s futures. This legal outreach program at SMA Harapan Mekar, Medan, aimed to provide legal education for Grade 12 students (35 participants) on the boundaries of juvenile delinquency that may escalate into criminal offenses and the related legal consequences under the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP). The program employed interactive lectures, small-group discussions, and analysis of real-life cases involving adolescents. The results indicate increased student legal awareness, reflected in participants’ ability to identify forms of delinquency that may lead to legal problems and to understand the potential criminal sanctions that may be imposed. The program emphasizes prevention through character strengthening within the school environment. Sustaining its impact requires collaboration among law enforcement, academics, and schools to foster a law-abiding, legally aware generation.

Abstract

Public communication skills are a barrier for adolescents due to a lack of self- confidence and mastery of formal communication techniques. This community empowerment activity aims to improve the self-confidence and communicative skills of members of the Youth Information and Counseling Center (PIK-R) Kapanewon Tempel through public speaking and Master of Ceremony (MC) training. The methods used include pre- and post-tests, interactive lectures, demonstrations, direct practice (simulation), and feedback. This activity involved 31 participants from various villages in Kapanewon Tempel. The effectiveness of the activity was evaluated by comparing pre-test and post-test results and observations during the practice session. The results of the activity showed a 15% increase in understanding of basic MC techniques, including language, intonation, material preparation, and body gestures. In addition, participants showed greater courage in appearing and the ability to manage the flow of events more calmly. This training equipped PIK-R members with relevant communication skills for self-development and active roles in community organizations.

Abstract

The goal of this community service project was to raise the socioeconomic standing of coastal communities whose restricted participation in development decision-making has limited their ability to become self-sufficient. The primary problem identified was low participation in educational programs that promote social and economic empowerment. The initiative adopted a participatory community empowerment approach, making the community the focal point of learning, planning, and execution. Capacity development was achieved through instructional interventions, needs mapping, group-based mentoring, and marine-based entrepreneurship training grounded in religious values and sustainable local practices. According to the findings, community involvement in cooperative fish farming has grown, there is greater collaboration between pesantren youth organizations, and small-scale seafood processing enterprises are using local marine resources. Additionally, the initiative increased public awareness of the shared social responsibility to promote local development. In conclusion, the participatory education-based empowerment model successfully enhanced community capacity and fostered long-term socioeconomic development.

Abstract

The abuse of social media such as Facebook, Tik-Tok, Instagram and other social media among teenagers is currently increasing to the stage of addiction, such as high rates of cyberbullying, the spread of false information, and a decline in morale among high school students. The main challenge faced by the partner, SMK Tarbiyah Islamiyah, is the lack of students' legal understanding of ethics in communicating in cyberspace. This community service program aims to provide legal information related to the ethics of using social media based on the Electronic Information and Transaction Law. The implementation of the activity was carried out through interactive legal counseling, which included lectures, group discussions, and simulation case studies on digital ethics violations. The results of this activity showed a significant increase in student understanding, where before this event only 40% of students understood about the legal aspects of social media, and that number jumped to 85% after counseling. Students are now more aware of the importance of filtering content and understanding the legal risks of each post. The conclusion of this activity is that regular legal counseling is very effective in forming responsible attitudes of adolescents on social media, as well as a preventive measure against cybercrime in the school environment.

Abstract

Low knowledge about anemia and its prevention is a risk factor for anemia in school-age children. Based on initial observations at SMPN B Srikaton, most adolescent girls do not yet have an optimal understanding of anemia prevention and early detection. This community service activity aims to increase adolescent girls’ knowledge of anemia prevention and detection through educational leaflets. The activity was carried out on Friday, February 14, 2025, involving 30 adolescent girls and 2 female teachers, in the form of health education delivered through materials and leaflet distribution. It followed the preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. The evaluation was conducted using a pre-test and a post-test. The results showed that the average knowledge score increased from 65 in the pre-test to 83 in the post-test. Leaflets have proven effective for adolescent health education because they have a simple format, are easy to understand, and can be reread by participants after the educational activity. Delivering information through leaflets with pictures and brief explanations helps improve adolescents’ understanding of the provided health material. Continuous education needs to be carried out.

Abstract

MSMEs Dried Banana Sale Chips Surya is one business actor with growth potential, but still faces various obstacles in the production process. The main problems include limited production facilities, traditional product cooling processes, and suboptimal packaging quality, which affect production efficiency and product shelf life. This service activity aims to improve product quality and production process efficiency by providing grants for supporting equipment, including plastic silencer machines and fan blowers. The implementation method uses a participatory approach, including observation, brainstorming, technology application, mentoring, and evaluation. The results of the activity show that the use of plastic siler machines can improve the quality and safety of product packaging, extend shelf life, and increase selling value. Meanwhile, the use of fan blowers speeds up the cooling of banana chips, making production more efficient. Thus, the application of appropriate technology through production equipment grants has been proven to improve product quality and production efficiency for MSMEs in the Dried Banana Sale Chips sector.

Abstract

Marriage Law No. 16 of 2019 stipulates the minimum age for marriage as 19 years for both men and women. In reality, many people in society still marry before reaching the minimum age for marriage. The purpose of this community engagement is to provide information to the community on preventing underage marriage and the minimum age for marriage under Marriage Law No. 16 of 2019. This community engagement is in the Getasan District, Semarang Regency. There were 35 participants in the community engagement. This community engagement uses a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, often known as the PAR method. This approach includes planning, action, observation, and reflection. The results of this community engagement program show that the socialization prevention of underage marriage can be considered successful and in line with planned targets. This is an evident fact that after participating in this socialization program, the participants were able 100% to understand the minimum age limit for marriage in the Indonesian Marriage Law No. 16 of 2019, which is 19 years old for both men and women.

Abstract

This community service initiative aimed to implement Local Culture-Based Bilingual Storynomics Tourism to strengthen global literacy and bilingual narrative competence among non-school adolescents in Ara Tourism Village, Bontobahari District, Bulukumba Regency. The program adopted a Participatory Action Research (PAR) framework involving 15 participants through four stages: diagnostic cultural mapping, co-design of bilingual tourism narratives, experiential simulation through role-play activities, and reflective evaluation. Pre-intervention assessment indicated a low overall literacy score of 2.1 on a four-point scale, reflecting limited communicative confidence and narrative coherence in English. Following the intervention, the average score increased to 3.2, representing a measurable improvement of approximately 52% across assessed indicators. Improvements were observed in communicative confidence, narrative structure, and the integration of local cultural elements into tourism storytelling. All participants were able to incorporate elements of local maritime heritage into simple bilingual narratives. These findings suggest that integrating local culture with participatory bilingual storytelling practices can support the development of communicative competence and strengthen youth engagement in community-based tourism.
