Abstract

This community service program aimed to strengthen waqf and Islamic financial literacy among teachers at ZAMMI School for Orphans and the Underprivileged in Medan through participatory and technology-based training. The program was implemented through socialization sessions, training on digital teaching media, mentoring, and the provision of basic educational technology tools. Eight teachers participated in the program. The implementation of this community service program (PKM) uses a participatory mixed-method approach, combining both qualitative and quantitative data to gain a comprehensive understanding of the improvement in waqf and Islamic financial literacy among teachers. Evaluation was conducted using observations, interviews, and pre- and post-training questionnaires. The results indicated a substantial improvement in teachers’ understanding of waqf and Islamic finance, as well as increased confidence in utilizing digital media for learning. Quantitatively, the average literacy score increased from 3.34 to 4.45, indicating a significant positive change after the intervention. More importantly, teachers began to integrate waqf values and Islamic financial concepts into learning activities and school-based philanthropic practices.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a strategic role in supporting the national economy. However, most MSME actors still face challenges in preparing systematic financial statements in accordance with accounting principles. Suboptimal financial management results in limited access to financing and hinders business development. Although Android-based devices are widely used, their utilization for financial recording and reporting remains relatively low. This community service activity is in partnership with the Bakoel Ibung MSME in Prabumulih City, which still records finances manually and has limited digital financial literacy. To address these challenges, this community service activity aimed to provide training on the use of an Android-based financial application, namely the Akuntansiku application, for Bakoel Ibung MSME. Through this activity, Bakoel Ibung MSME successfully implemented the Akuntansiku application in its daily business operations. Furthermore, the MSME demonstrated the ability to operate the application independently, starting from transaction input and account classification to the preparation of simple financial statements.

Abstract

RW 06 in Purwosari Village, Baturraden Subdistrict, faces two major challenges: unmanaged daily kitchen waste that contributes to sanitation and environmental problems, and reliance on PLN electricity, which is unreliable and costly for communal needs. This article presents the design, implementation, and effectiveness of the "Bio-Solar Synergy Partnership Model," a community-based Waste-to-Product (WTP) approach that integrates an anaerobic biodigester with a solar photovoltaic (PV) system. The program employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, built on active collaboration among the service team, village administrators, and local community groups. The model successfully converted an average of 50 kg/day of organic kitchen waste and generated 1 kWh of electricity per day from the PV system. Importantly, the partnership model also established a local institution, the "Independent Energy Working Group (Pokja Energi Mandiri)," which independently manages operations and maintenance. The PV system plays a critical role in ensuring the continuous operation of the blender and the biodigester control system. Overall, the Bio-Solar Synergy model proved socio-technically effective: it reduced waste, produced clean energy, and strengthened community capacity and social ownership.

Abstract

The prevalence of malaria in East Sumba Regency reached 2,184 cases in 2023. In 2022, there were 135 cases in the Waingapu Community Health Center's work area, including Mbatakapidu Village. This raises the urgency of immediate action to address partner issues. Waingapu Community Health Center data show that 12 malaria cases were reported in 2020 and 58 in 2021. The main contributor to cases came from Mbatakapidu Village. Therefore, malaria promotion and prevention activities are focused on that village. This community service activity aims to provide assistance and health education to families about mosquito-repellent plants, namely citronella trees. The implementation method involves counselling, introducing, and distributing mosquito-repellent plant seeds. This activity was carried out with a pre-test and post-test, with average scores of 62% and 92%, respectively, resulting in a 30% increase in knowledge. The target output of this community service activity is articles and activity videos that can be published in journals and online mass media.

Abstract

Medical physics is a rapidly developing field, with increasing demand for qualified professionals in Indonesia following regulations requiring hospitals to employ medical physicists. This community service program was conducted to introduce high school students to the applications of physics in healthcare and to improve their understanding and perception of physics as an applied and career-relevant discipline. The activity was carried out in collaboration between Matana University and SMA Stella Maris BSD, featuring interactive scientific talks and expert discussions on medical imaging, radiation therapy, and emerging topics in medical physics. Participants were 11th-grade science-track students, and program effectiveness was evaluated using pre-test and post-test assessments. The results showed a clear improvement in students’ understanding of physics applications in healthcare, with average scores increasing from 83.2 to 92.8, representing an improvement of approximately 11.5%. Qualitative feedback further indicated increased student interest in physics and greater awareness of career opportunities in medical physics, biomedical engineering, and healthcare technology.
