Abstract

This community service program addressed the limited digital literacy and pedagogical skills among vocational school teachers in developing interactive learning media. The program aimed to enhance teachers’ competence in creating Augmented Reality (AR)-based learning materials at SMKN 3 Yogyakarta. A workshop-based approach was implemented, involving direct training, guided practice, and mentoring in designing AR media using user-friendly platforms. Participants were introduced to the principles of AR, its application in education, and the technical steps for creating interactive content. Evaluation was conducted through pre- and post-training assessments, observations, and participant feedback. The results showed a significant improvement in teachers’ understanding and ability to integrate AR into their instructional design. Teachers demonstrated increased motivation to adopt innovative technology in the classroom and produced prototype AR media relevant to their teaching subjects. The program successfully fostered digital transformation in teaching practices by equipping educators with practical skills and confidence in utilizing emerging educational technologies.

Abstract

Toray Village is a border region with significant potential for livestock development, but it still faces challenges in providing sustainable, affordable animal feed. This community service program aims to empower local communities by advancing innovations in the production of animal feed pellets from agricultural and household waste. The activity was carried out through a participatory approach, including training and technical assistance. The results of the activity showed that the community was able to produce economical and nutritious feed pellets, and there was an increase in understanding of waste management as a means to create value-added products. This innovation not only reduced livestock operational costs but also contributed to waste reduction and increased community economic independence. This empowerment model has the potential to be applied in other areas with similar characteristics to support local food security. The implementation method for the activity was counseling and equipment demonstration, covering introduction, operation, management, and maintenance.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a strategic role in Indonesia's economy, contributing more than 60% to GDP and accounting for 97% of the workforce. However, culinary MSMEs in Palembang still face challenges, including a lack of product innovation, ineffective marketing strategies, and unattractive packaging. This community service program aims to empower the people of Pulau Harapan Village through the product innovation of kemplang tunu as a creative business alternative, using a participatory, innovative approach comprising several stages: initial observation, product design, digital promotion and training, packaging innovation, and evaluation and monitoring. The program introduces an innovative kemplang product served with cuko, a traditional Palembang sauce, to the local PKK women's group, while providing training in digital marketing through platforms such as Facebook Pro, TikTok Shop, and WhatsApp Business, and educating participants on creating attractive, hygienic packaging. The results show increased community knowledge of product innovation, improved skills in digital marketing and modern packaging techniques, and a stronger entrepreneurial spirit among PKK women, who can also continue their primary occupation as rubber farmers.

Abstract

Drug abuse poses a serious threat to Indonesia's young generation, particularly among junior and senior high school students who are highly vulnerable to peer influence. As a form of community service, the Community Service Program (KKN) team conducted a drug abuse awareness campaign at SMPN 5 Kandis (400 students) and SMAN 2 Kandis (500 students) on September 3, 2025. The activity involved 13 students from the Belutu Village KKN group in collaboration with village officials, healthcare workers, and school representatives. The implementation methods included a pre-test, interactive lectures, group discussions, Q&A sessions, and a post-test to measure improvement in students' understanding. The results showed a significant increase in the "good" knowledge category, from 20% in the pre-test to 80% in the post-test, while the "poor" category dropped sharply from 40% to 5%. In addition, students demonstrated positive behavioral changes by committing to staying away from drugs and reminding their peers to do the same. These findings indicate that a multi-stakeholder synergy between university students, local communities, schools, village authorities, and healthcare workers is effective in improving drug abuse literacy among adolescents.

Abstract

Food security remains a major challenge in rural development, even though rural areas possess vast land and strong agricultural potential. Ideally, sufficient land ownership and farming resources should guarantee stable household food availability, yet food insecurity persists. Therefore, this community engagement program aims to: (1) map household food security potential in the village, and (2) assist residents through aquaponics training to support sustainable household food supply. The program applies the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, which focuses on identifying and analyzing community assets, including human, natural, and financial resources; infrastructure; and social and institutional networks. The results of this asset mapping are then developed using the Business Model Canvas (BMC) to plan an effective assistance strategy. Findings indicate that agricultural, livestock, human, and infrastructure assets strongly support improvements in food security. Aquaponics can be implemented in both large and small home yards at low cost, using recycled bottles for hydroponic plants and small tanks for catfish cultivation, helping households maintain sustainable access to food.

Abstract

A mural project was implemented as a visual enhancement for the community center. This study examines residents' perspectives on mural interventions and evaluates the effectiveness of measurement tools. The mural project took one month to complete, but preparation, including discussions with the community head, also required one month. Post-project surveys were gathered online via a Likert scale, employing a quantitative descriptive method. Item validity and internal reliability were assessed using item-total correlations and Cronbach's alpha. Twenty respondents participated in the survey. The instrument demonstrated strong reliability (α = 0.78) with 14 valid items. The findings indicate that the average perception across dimensions falls within the mid-range, with social interaction leading at 58.20%, followed by sense of ownership at 55.60%, revitalization evaluation at 55.32%, aesthetic perception at 55.00%, local identity at 54.60%, and community pride at 53.20%, which is the lowest. The findings indicate that murals effectively stimulate social interaction, though they have not yet fully realized their potential to build community pride. Practical implications involve enhancing theme curation rooted in local identity, engaging residents in maintenance, and creating regular activity programs to boost pride.
