Abstract

The debate on the concept of political sovereignty leads to the question of whether sovereignty comes from God or humans. It is related to the foundation of state management and has implications for the political system. Islamic political tradition has not an authoritative text that explains sovereignty. This thesis was conducted based on the evidence of Islamic political history which did not present a concept of universal and standard sovereignty. Muslim thinkers proposed some alternative ideas of sovereignty such as nomocratic, theo-democracy and democracy. The author sees that the sovereignty concept in Islam is discussed as ijtihādiyyah (intellectual interpretation and judgment) which lead to multiple interpretations in some contemporary Muslim countries show that the sovereignty concept in Islam is dynamic and can be negotiated according to the political needs of the society.

Abstract

The dynamics of developmental technology and information in the Postglobalization era has a significant impact in building the scientific method of education, especially for Islamic Education. The teacher or Tutor as the main actor in delivering the learning material in the classroom is required to be able to map and guide students in understanding and implementing Islamic value. This article aims to developing PAI learning models through the Metacognitive Keyword Model (MKM). A teaching method intended for teachers / tutors so that they can guide their own thoughts in delivering the material appropriately, effectively and efficiently. The term "Keyword" refers to the “stressing point” of every material taught. MKM consists of several stages including (1) refresh; (2) re-arrange the keywords; (3) creating positive self talk or affirmation; (4) review and (5) Reflect. MKM can also be applied specifically to students through the keyword mapping process of each material. Through this model it is hoped that it will improve the quality of the learning process of Islamic Religion in educational settings.

Abstract

Boarding school culture is a part of Islamic social setting that acknowledges the differences of human "faith" in an intellectual approach to the problem that has been revealed in the empirical world. Boarding school tradition is one of the cultural acculturation forms of Islamic studies. There is a reflection that the “santri” relation to the "kiai" is an obedience of “sam'an wa ta'atan” by hoping to bless in order that they can get better lives. The blessing is part of the justification of religious symbol that is given by “santri” to their "kiai" such as blessing, “karamah” that function as the power source. Santri' assumptions to the "kiai" have the practice of "hisb" that is believed can result in blessing and clairvoyant. Those symbolic terms are like Barakah (blessing), tawadu', muru'ah, and other irreplaceable symbols that have negative meanings for santri like afraid to be cursed. Good attitudes of kiai always show and utilize symbols that contain moral discipline values (religion) to internalize in building a cultural formula of the blessing myths.

Abstract

Investment is a sacrifice to postpone current consumption by allocating a number of assets that are expected to earn benefits in the future. Islamic Sharia does not forbid Muslims to do it, even there is an indication that it is recommended. The main motivation is to be able to pay more alms in the future. One of investment instruments in Indonesia is Mutual Funds. Indonesia's predominantly Muslim population is one of the triggers for the development of sharia-based mutual funds. However, its development has not been as big as the existing potential market. One of the reasons is there is still a view in the community that sharia-based instruments provide lower returns than non-sharia. This study compares the risks and returns of mutual funds, between sharia and non-sharia based. Sampling of both used purposive sampling, where there were 6 sharia mutual funds and 8 non-sharia mutual funds. The study was conducted in 5 years. The results of the study were: (1) There was no significant difference between the risks of both; (2) There was no significant difference between the returns of both; (3) The performance of non-sharia mutual funds was more dominating than sharia mutual funds.

Abstract

This study aims to design a model in achieving superior performance of MSMEs. The mixed strategic orientations of demography, economy and cultural values are used to design this model. The mixed strategic orientations consist of customer, competitor and innovation orientations. Demographic variables consist of age, experience and education. Economic variables consist of government, price, income and growth. Cultural value variables consist of Javanese, Chinese and Padang cultural values. Customer orientation variables have an antecedent variable that consist of entrepreneurship, reward and learning. The change orientation variable moderates the customer and competitor orientations to the innovation orientation. Variable of competitive advantage mediates customer and competitor orientations on MSMEs’ performance. The population of this study consists of food MSMEs in Central Java. The 750 samples are chosen with convenient sampling technique. Data analysis mrthod used the Cross-tab Analysis and Structural Equation Model (SEM). The result of this research is a model explaining that demography, economy and cultural values influence antecedent variables of customer orientation, dimension of strategic orientations and organizational performance. The antecedent variables affect customer orientation; the dimension of strategic orientations affects performance; Variable of change of capacity unmoderates customer and competitor orientations on innovation orientation. Variable of competitive advantage unmediates customer, innovation and competitor orientations on performance. An abstract should accompany each manuscript; it should be completely self-consistent (i.e., with no figure, table, equation or reference citations), not exceeding 250 words and written as a single paragraph.
