Abstract

Religion commodifications, including the issue of the Quran, are not a real breakthrough in socio-religious studies. Various studies have been carried out. However, the current studies are still limited to descriptions of the variety of commodification and problems that occur and have not reached yet the aspect of dismantling the social intrigues in them. For this reason, this study intends to read the commodification of the Quran as a social phenomenon and at the same time expose the hidden aspects in it. This study uses the social theory of The Consumer Society, initiated by Jean Baudrillard which includes aspects of commodification, media shaping, and social shifting paradigm: needs towards desires and lifestyles, by adopting relevant disciplines of the Quran such as riwayat, qira ah and tajwid. The object to be studied is Mushaf Al-Quran Grand Maqamat or known as Al-Quran Digital Talking Pen Grand Maqamat. After conducting the study, it was found that the commodification of the Quran that occurred was part of the industrialization effort of the Qur’an by using religious actors as an excuse and as a marketing medium. Commodification that occurs is also not in line with the spirit of necessity which refers to the concepts of riwayat, qira ah and tajwid in the Quran.

Abstract

Despair often occurs when humans cannot achieve what they want, despair that always appears at the end, as if to signal the end of hope, of course, Allah forbids despair amid humans who still have the opportunity to try. This article explores the story of the prophet Yaqub who was always optimistic when he lost his favorite son, Prophet Yusuf. Discussed with Abdullah Saeeds hermeneutic method, the research aims to find the significance and value of optimism in the story of the prophet Yaqub recorded in Qs. Yusuf verses 86, 87. The results of this study are the story of the prophet Yaqub has an element in the form of Mauizah al-Hasanah (good advice) which was specifically given to the prophet Muhammad for later advice to his people. The significance of the story of the prophet Yaqub and the prophet Yusuf has at least three urgencies, namely the prohibition of giving up, promoting an attitude of optimism in every situation, being polite and patient when dealing with children.

Abstract

Abdurrahman Wahid was a pioneer of the concept of religious moderation because his ideas included wasathiyyah (moderate) Islamic values. His transformative thinking tried to solve religious and national social problems with contextual interpretation of Quranic verses and gave rise to a model of moderate thinking that aligned with the principles of tolerance, brotherhood, and nationalism. His contextual interpretation generally uses the source of bi al Rayi interpretation, but his consistency cannot be ascertained because he never declared himself an interpreter. The method used is maudhui (thematic). There are several concepts of religious moderation taught by Wahid, including: 1. Pluralistic awareness in religion by removing the banning of religious understanding, 2. Awareness of the implementation of religious functions in social life to realize Islam rahmatan lil alamin, 3. The orientation of the nation is based on nationalism, not the formalism of religious teachings to realize ummatan wasathan, 4. The importance of interfaith dialogue to establish cooperation in social and muamalat, 5. Uphold the principles of justice (in human rights and economic ethics), professionalism, and tolerance, being patient, mature, forgiving and not authoritarian or demeaning to others.

Abstract

Covid-19, Emotional Mental Conditions, Quarantine, Memorizing the Qur'an. This research derives from academic problems such as. Firstly, body shaming is an actual phenomenon, and it is widely discussed. Secondly, the phenomenon of body shaming has occurred in the past until now, but it has different terms these days. Thirdly, the interpretations related to the verse on the term body shaming have not touched the maqasidi aspect and only discussed the prohibition. In this study, the author uses a type of library research and a descriptive method with the Tafsir Maqasidi approach. This approach serves to explore the interpretation of the verse along with the analysis. Maqasidi and its contextualization in the present. This study produced several findings, such as the value of benefit including the value of humanity (speaking human words), the value of justice (every disgraceful behavior will have consequences), and the value of moderation: (saying with respect for the feelings of others). The Maqasidi aspects contained in the prohibition of body shaming are in the form of hifz al-nafs, hifz al-din, and hifz al-‘aql.

Abstract

The Covid 19 pandemic has spawned many phenomena of mental health disorders such as anxiety, fear, moral panic, overthinking, post-pandemic stress disorder, xenophobia, post-traumatic stress, and others. Therefore, this paper discusses (1) the Quranic perspective on mental health; (2) the response and contextual interpretation of the verses of the Quran related to mental health in the post pandemic era which can be normative and performative guidelines to be actualized in everyday life. This paper uses a type of literature-qualitative research with a phenomenological approach and thematic interpretation as to a contextual reading of the Quran related to mental health in the post pandemic era. The findings of this paper are that the Quran emphasizes the need for prevention and healing of mental health through (1) the importance of being resilient which is manifested in being easy to adapt in the face of changing eras (QS. Ar Rad: 11); (2) there is no difficulty in religion (QS. Al Hajj: 78); (3) do not fall into self-social-psychological destructions (QS. Al Baqarah: 195); (4) surrender and be pleased with all the provisions of Allah (QS. At Thaghabun [64]: 11); and (5) maintaining mental health is part of jihad in the post pandemic era (QS. An Nisa: 95).

Abstract

The discussion of Prophetic philosophy was one of the central themes for Muslim philosophers in the Middle Ages. This is because one of the foundations of the Muslim faith is built on trust in God's messengers as recipients and transmitters of divine messages. Therefore, if someone has claimed to be a believer, the consequence that must be accepted is to believe in the existence of Muhammad's prophecy. However, history records the existence of some groups of Muslims in the Middle Ages that have ruled out the role of a prophet. The assumption that underlies them solely rests on the role of human reason which is considered sufficient to lead him to the truth so that the role of prophethood is no longer needed. This paper highlights how the Qur'an explains the concept of Muhammad's prophecy with all the visions and missions it carries. The Qur'an through sura al-Ahzab verses 45-46 has captured some of the prophetic characteristics of Muhammad. The philosophical approach in this research is a concrete effort to understand and explain religious doctrine more logically and systematically. The results of this study indicate that sura al-Ahzab verses 45-46 contain the prophetic message of Muhammad's prophethood, that is his testimony as a messenger who brings good news as well as a warning to people who are in denial of the existence of God. In addition, Muhammad also played a role as a caller for truth and a guide for lost mankind.

Abstract

This article is a response to the growing radical understanding of religion and the rejection of Pancasila as the nation's ideology in the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). This article is also an offer of thought for the Deradicalization of Al-Quran Verses. Namely, as an effort to reinterpret several verses of the Qur'an which have the potential to be understood by some as the basis for acts of violence or coercion of certain ideologies. In this article, the author uses the theosophical esoteric interpretation approach such as Haidar Amuli (d. 1385), as an analytical tool to explore the content of several verses of the Qur’an related to jihad. This paper can also be referred to as thematic interpretation because the author tries to discuss (analyze) the content of the verses of the Qur'an based on a theme and tries to follow the steps of the thematic method in interpretation. Through an esoteric approach, in this article, jihad will not only be interpreted as a physical war taking up arms. Jihad has several levels of meaning, such as jihad of ahl shariah, ahl tariqah, and ahl haqiqa. Furthermore, by analyzing the historical context, the jihad verses can be interpreted as a movement for mental revolution and social moral improvement.

Abstract

The study of Piwko showed that the greater the religiosity in Islam, the lower the acceptance of pandemic restrictions. Is this issue true? On the other hand, the Quran Surah al-Mâidah (5): 6 became the inspiration for a long study by the commentators in the chapter of Taharah in Islamic Law. The object of this paper will examine the COVID 19 issue and the verse from the sanitation side. This paper uses library research, with the approach of Tafseer Maudûi, the tahlîli system, and also inductive and deductive methods. Conclusion, first, cleanliness and purification are part of Islamic teachings and inseparable from faith and love. Second, ablution and ghusl are the cleanliness, and are very healthy from a medical point of view. Third, although tayammum uses earth, it seems less clean, but in fact earth is clean, purify, and it can be used as a health medium. Fourth, the three advantages of taharah. Fifth, to be grateful that Islamic sanitary starts from personal hygiene, maintaining chastity, continues to maintain the sanctity of prayer places, to maintaining environmental cleanliness. The novelties are that sanitary in the Qur'an is not only limited to a global or general strategy, but is also tactically regulated in a more technical and detailed form. The sanctity and cleanliness of mosques and Muslims is proof that they are not part of the COVID 19 cluster. That the greater the religiosity, the higher the acceptance of cleanliness and purification which can limit the pandemic restrictions. As the message of QS al-Mâidah [5]: 6.

Abstract

Hermeneutics is a study of understanding to interpret and reveal the hidden meaning of the text, symbols, and human actions. Hermeneutics is widely used as an approach in the realm of interpretation. This research will describe the hermeneutics of the Qur'an in Al-Kashshaf by al-Zamakhsyary. This research is a qualitative type of research by applying the literature study model. The results of this study indicate that the interpretation of the al-Kashshaf is a bi al-Ra'yi interpretation (the more dominant interpretation relies on reasoning). In terms of hermeneutics, the hermeneutics pattern of al-Zamakhsyary in the understanding of al-Kashshaf can be grouped as subjective hermeneutics by decomposition that, first: the use of sense in the al-Kashshaf is very dominant and gets a reasonably high portion; Second, the balaghah and grammatical aspect in the al-Kashshaf interpretation look very thick. In this case, the authenticity of the editorial and text words are caught carefully; Third, al-Zamakhsyary uses other texts such as the Hadith and Jahiliyyah poetry to strengthen or describe the interpretation. Keywords: Hermeneutics, al-Zamakhsyary, Tafsir bi al-Ra’yi, Tafseer al-Kashshaf.
