Journal in Islamic Studies published by the Institute for Student Studies and Empowerment IAIN Purwokerto. Subjects include textual study and fieldwork with various perspectives on law, philosophy, mysticism, history, art, theology, and more. Initially, the journal only functioned as a print and electronic journal media that accommodated and published research results from theses/final assignments and/or part of theses/final assignments for students of IAIN Purwokerto S.1 and S.2, from multidisciplinary sciences. However, due to later developments with a wider audience, the journal has managed to invite scholars and researchers outside the Institute to contribute. Thus, Indonesian and non-Indonesian scholars have enriched studies published in journals. Although from the start Raushan Fikr did not present highly qualified scientific articles, the improvement — in terms of format, style, and academic quality — never stopped. Now with articles written in Indonesian, Arabic and English and with fair peer-review procedures, Raushan Fikr continues to publish research and studies related to Islamic studies with various dimensions and approaches. Raushan Fikr, published twice a year (1 volume and 2 numbers) in January and July, has always placed Islam and Muslims in the main focus of academic inquiry and invited comprehensive observations on Islam as a theological belief and system of society and Muslims as those who practice religion with many sides. This journal, serving as a forum for Islamic studies in Indonesia and other parts of the world in a local and challenging global context, supports theme-focused studies and interdisciplinary studies. Raushan Fikr has become a medium for diffusion and exchange of ideas and research findings, in such a way that researchers, writers and readers from various learning traditions have interacted in a scientific way.

Meanwhile, as an educator should be humble, not shy to say “I don`t know”, and using right methods in teaching

Abstract

This article examines the phenomenon of education for people with disabilities in Q.S. ‘Abasa: 1-11. This study uses the ma’na cum maghza theory approach which was initiated by Sahiron Syamsuddin. This discourse arises from the problem of low access to education for people with disabilities. The study of ma’na cum maghza, using a linguistic and historical-context approach, produces a significance that is not limited to morality, but there are efforts to equalize education for people with disabilities. The results of this study indicate that inclusive access to education for persons with disabilities should be further improved, in an effort to improve the quality of education for persons with disabilities

Abstract

This study aims to reveal efforts to develop Islamic moderation through libraries. Libraries as the center of knowledge management institutions have the potential and reach of the wider community geographically, at various levels. This relates to the types of libraries that tend to have the potential to be easier to accept. Based on this research, it was found that Islamic moderation in the context of the nation and state is a new thing. In fact, it has existed since the early days of Islam, for the Indonesian people, Islamic modernization existed before the era of independence. The development of religious moderation in the library is a very relevant thing to do. The progress of culture and civilization of a nation cannot be separated from the progress of the library. The role of libraries in sowing Islamic modernity is the connection of the present context with history. The discontinuity of history makes a person can be misguided because he does not receive complete information or is trapped in a text without an adequate interpretation of the context. The spread of Islamic moderation needs the right strategy, because it requires a long and continuous step. The strategy is divided into two, namely internal and external. The internal strategy concerns the performance of the library while external is related to support from institutions outside the library which is generally related to the realm of power

Abstract

The radicalism discourse that has been quite widespread in the last two decades has produced various responses, ranging from counter-narrative, deradicalization, and counter-radicalism efforts. This paper investigates, specifically, some motives for countering radicalism organized by the young interfaith peacemaker community (YIPC) in Yogyakarta. Using an interpretive phenomenological approach, this qualitative research explores several motives behind the counter-radicalism movement that they have, at least, three dialectical reasons that trigger them to counter radicalism: collective awareness; imagined common enemy; and the claim of youthfulness. In particular, the factor of this common enemy was born as a result of the hyper-reality that has been created and disseminated by the government, the press, educational institutions which have been concerned with radicalism and terrorism. All these institutional roles systematically and massively stimulate the minds of young people about the dangers that must be fought. Thus their counter-radicalism efforts have sprung up in various forms and approaches.

Abstract

This article will elaborate on the understanding of the importance of jihad from the understanding of Al-Mishbah from the perspective of hermeneutics as an art method of understanding. Quraish Shihab as an observer who is isolated from the debate, many people only see from his experience that he is often seen as close to Shia culture. To avoid the wrong impression among readers and journalists in understanding the text of the jihad verse, this article uses the Schleiermacher hermeneutics method as one of the objective hermeneutics, namely understanding is in the author of the text. Schleiermacher’s hermeneutics will not only look at the text but also look at the psychological side or life of Quraish Shihab especially when he is writing the commentary on al-Mishbah. The results of this study indicate that through the grammatical interpretation of the meaning of jihad in the interpretation of Al-Mishbah it is understood that, first, the meaning of jihad in the interpretation of Al-Mishbah is an outer and inner struggle against religious enemies. Second, jihad by taking up arms is the last resort in jihad against religious enemies. Furthermore, through his psychological interpretation, Quraish Shihab is a person who has superior capacity and conditions that support him in writing the interpretation of Al-Mishbah

Abstract

The granting of forest use rights by the central government to private and state companies, at a later stage creates inequality for residents around the forest. Those who incidentally are the recipients of the earliest ecological damage do not get many opportunities to participate in reaping the resources around them. No wonder, if the economic condition of the surrounding population is still below the poverty line. The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) established a program, social forestry. This is an effort to provide legal access to land management in the state forest area of 12.7 million hectares to the community. Based on this description, this article will reveal the extent to which social forestry programs have a positive impact on the environment, both human and natural. As an analytical tool, Abdul Mustaqim’s maqashidi interpretation is projected to explore the maqashidiyah dimensions (maqashid al-Qur’an and maqashid shari’ah) of social forestry by referring to several verses that talk about the theme. For the conclusions, the social forestry program is able to represent the maqashid dimensions of the Qur’an on the freedom and responsibility values. In the maqashid shari’ah dimension, it’s cooperative as an effort to protect the soul (hifdz al-Nafs and protect the environment (hifdz al-bi’ah)

Abstract

This article discusses a tradition that is sacred by the Osing Banyuwangi tribal community, namely the Seblang tradition. This research is a field-research that focuses on looking at the Seblang tradition developed in the Osing tribal community using an Islamic perspective. The results of the research reveal that: first, the Seblang tradition developed in the Osing tribal community is a form of cultural preservation which has an element of ritual. Some people consider that the Seblang tradition is a form of shirk in Islam because its rituals are considered to worship Satan and are not in accordance with Islamic values. This can be seen from the procession in the Seblang ritual, the Seblang dance must be led by a shaman to recite a spell and summon spirits which will later possess the Seblang dancers. These spirits are believed by the community to be the spirits of Buyut Kethut, Buyut Ratio, and Buyut Jalil, these spirits are considered the guardians of the village and can bless the Seblang tradition. Second, although the Seblang tradition is considered shirk and worships the devil, but this tradition has an acculturation between local culture and Islamic teachings which can be seen from the prayers read in the tahlilan event before the Seblang tradition begins. Besides, after studied more deeply, the Seblang tradition can also strengthen social solidarity in the communities, reinforce human relationship, as a social unity tool, and increase the sense of nationalism in the cultural preservation.
