Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to understand how emotional maturity and social support affect the ability of women to adapt after experiencing the kawin tangkap (Pitti Rambang) tradition in Sumba Island. Methodology/approach: The research used a quantitative correlational method. Participants were women from Sumba Island who had experienced the kawin tangkap tradition, selected using purposive sampling. Three psychological scales were used to measure emotional maturity, social support, and self-adjustment. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis. Results/findings: The study found a positive relationship between emotional maturity and self-adjustment (r = 0.628; p < 0.01), and between social support and self-adjustment (r = 0.587; p < 0.01). Together, emotional maturity and social support significantly contributed to self-adjustment (R² = 0.521; F = 24.138; p < 0.01). Conclusion: Emotional maturity and social support are crucial in helping women adapt after experiencing the kawin tangkap tradition. Strengthening these factors can enhance resilience and support women in overcoming psychological challenges associated with oppressive cultural practices. Limitations: The study only involved women who had experienced kawin tangkap and used a purposive sampling method, which may limit the generalizability of the findings to other cultural or regional contexts. Contribution: This study contributes to the field of community psychology and cultural studies by highlighting the importance of emotional and social factors in helping women adapt to culturally oppressive traditions. It can guide the development of culturally sensitive psychosocial support programs, especially for women in traditional or rural communities

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to develop a new model identifying factors that directly or indirectly influence teacher certification, focusing on the roles of teacher health, work environment, and leader image. Research methodology: A quantitative research approach was employed by distributing questionnaires to certified ASN teachers. The study population comprised 388 certified teachers in Serang City, with a sample of 80 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the Structural Equation Model with Partial Least Squares (SEM/PLS) to test both direct and indirect effects among variables. Results: Findings revealed: (1) Teacher health has no direct effect on teacher certification; (2) Work environment significantly influences teacher certification; (3) Teacher health does not significantly affect leader image; (4) Work environment significantly affects leader image; (5) Leader image significantly influences teacher certification; (6) Teacher health significantly affects teacher certification indirectly through leader image; and (7) Work environment significantly affects teacher certification indirectly through leader image. Conclusions: Teacher certification is strongly influenced by the work environment and leader image, both directly and indirectly, while teacher health exerts an indirect effect through leader image. This highlights the central role of organizational conditions and leadership perception in improving teacher certification outcomes. Limitations: The study is limited by a small sample size and restricted to certified teachers in Serang City, limiting the generalizability of the findings. Contribution: This research underscores the importance of improving the work environment and leader image to strengthen teacher certification programs.

Abstract

Purpose: This paper addresses efforts to accelerate the eradication of Qur’anic illiteracy in Indonesia. Recent studies (2018–2023) indicate that a significant number of Muslims still experience difficulties in reading the Qur’an, particularly in recognizing and pronouncing Arabic script, although the percentage has shown gradual decline. The study aims to present and evaluate various methods for learning Qur’anic script, ranging from classical to contemporary approaches. Research Methodology: The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach through a library study. Data were collected and analyzed from scholarly works, educational materials, and expert writings that discuss different methods of teaching Qur’an reading skills. Results: The findings reveal several methods designed to accelerate the eradication of Qur’anic illiteracy. Among them, modern methods demonstrate higher levels of practicality, efficiency, and accessibility compared to purely classical approaches, making them more suitable for rapid learning among today’s Muslim communities. Conclusions: Effective eradication of Qur’anic illiteracy requires combining the strengths of both classical and modern teaching methods. Integrating practicality with cultural-religious values ensures broader acceptance and sustainability of literacy programs. Limitations: The study is limited to secondary data from existing literature and does not include field validation or empirical testing of the methods reviewed. Contribution: This paper contributes by offering a comparative overview of Qur’anic literacy methods and highlighting those most relevant for accelerating literacy programs in contemporary Muslim societies.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to examine the effect of supervision on teacher performance in the PAUD Kasih Bunda Playgroup in East Lampung. This study seeks to identify the extent to which supervision enhances teacher productivity and learning quality. Research methodology: A quantitative descriptive approach was applied with a total population sample of 21 teachers. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, observations, and document analysis. The validity and reliability of the instruments were tested using SPSS 21, and regression analysis was employed to measure the effect of supervision on teacher performance. Results: The findings revealed a strong correlation (r = 0.732) between supervision and teacher performance, with a determination coefficient (R²) of 53.6%. Regression analysis indicated that supervision significantly affected teacher performance, with every one-point increase in supervision associated with a 0.505-point improvement in teacher performance. Conclusions: Effective supervision positively influences teacher performance, highlighting its importance in improving the planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning. Regular supervisory visits, constructive feedback, and collaborative guidance can enhance the quality of teaching and foster better student outcomes. Limitations: This study focused on only one institution with a relatively small sample size, limiting the generalizability of the findings. It also does not account for other influencing factors, such as work motivation, leadership, or organizational culture. Contribution: This study provides empirical evidence of the critical role of supervision in strengthening teacher performance in early childhood education. This study contributes to the literature on educational management and offers practical insights for school leaders, supervisors, and policymakers to enhance teacher quality through structured supervision.

Abstract

Purpose: This study examines the vital role of communication in business negotiations and its influence on organizational success. It explores how communication strategies, gender dynamics, and technological integration affect negotiation outcomes, emphasizing the importance of adaptive communication in achieving mutually beneficial agreements in a competitive business environment. Research Methodology: A systematic literature review was conducted by analyzing 84 peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2020 and 2024. Using the PRISMA framework, data were collected from reputable databases such as Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Taylor & Francis. The selected studies focused on interpersonal communication, negotiation strategies, gender influence, and the integration of technology in business communication. Results: The results show that effective communication significantly enhances negotiation success by improving understanding, trust, and collaboration between parties. Gender differences play a critical role, as male and female negotiators apply distinct communication styles that influence negotiation outcomes. Furthermore, technological tools, particularly AI-based communication platforms, strengthen negotiation effectiveness by increasing efficiency and reducing misunderstandings. Conclusions: The study concludes that a holistic negotiation strategy—integrating communication skills, gender awareness, and technological adaptability—improves negotiation efficiency and fosters long-term business partnerships. Limitations: The research is limited by its reliance on secondary data and recent publication scope, potentially overlooking earlier theoretical contributions. Contribution: This study provides a conceptual framework linking communication, gender, and technology in business negotiations, offering practical insights for organizations seeking to enhance negotiation strategies in an increasingly digital and diverse business landscape.
