Abstract

Yellow passion fruit (Passiflora edulis var. flavicarpa) is a perennial plant in the form of a shrub that can spread or spread. Yellow passion fruit peel contains many flavonoid compounds that have potential for antioxidants, anti-inflammatories and antibacterials. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of the type of solvent on the amount of yield and total flavonoid content of yellow passion fruit peel extract. The extraction method uses remaceration with 96% ethanol and ethyl acetate as solvent. Extract quality control using organoleptic, drying shrinkage, yield calculation and qualitative test of flavonoid compounds. Testing for total flavonoid levels was carried out using the colorimetric method with AlCl3 reagent by UV-Vis spectrophotometry and the wavelength used was 436.4 nm. The standard uses quercetin. The results showed that the yield of yellow passion fruit peel extract with 96% ethanol solvent was 4.43%w/w while ethyl acetate solvent was 2.57%w/w. The total flavonoid content of yellow passion fruit peel extract showed a significant difference (p <0.05) which was analyzed by independent sample t-test, namely with 96% ethanol of 4.23 ± 0.02 mgQE/gram and 13.02 mgQE/gram of ethyl acetate. 89±0.01 mgQE/gram.

Abstract

Antihypertensive drugs for coronary heart disease patients require proper treatment and attention to avoid becoming a major medical issue, given the relatively high incidence rate. A risk factor for coronary heart disease is a history of hypertension. Rational evaluation of antihypertensive drug use aims to ensure appropriate medication for coronary heart disease patients. Rationality criteria for drug use include proper indication, drug selection, dosage, and patient suitability. This study aims to evaluate the rationality of antihypertensive drug use in coronary heart disease patients at the Outpatient Clinic of Nirmala Suri Hospital. The research adopts a non-experimental, descriptive analytical design with a retrospective study approach involving coronary heart disease patients from December 2020 to February 2021. Simple random sampling technique was used, and 85 samples were obtained. The research instrument was a checklist. The evaluation results of antihypertensive drug use in coronary heart disease patients at the Outpatient Clinic of Nirmala Suri Hospital from December 2020 to February 2021, based on JNC VIII guidelines and the standard guidelines of the Indonesian Ministry of Health, show rationality with percentages of 100% for patient suitability, indication, and drug selection, and 90.59% for proper dosage.

Abstract

Hypertension is a degenerative disease that has a high incidence rate. Therapy given to hypertensive patients is usually carried out for a long time. The general goal of hypertension treatment is to reduce mortality and morbidity associated with target organ damage such as heart failure, coronary heart disease or chronic kidney disease. This study aims to provide an overview of the prescribing profile of antihypertensive drugs at the Pare Temanggung Health Center in March-April 2021 which includes drug class, drug type, drug combination, drug dose, frequency of drug administration, and duration of drug administration. This type of research is descriptive with a retrospective approach. The study used the total sampling method and obtained 100 prescription data for hypertension patients. The collected data will be processed and analyzed and then presented in tabular form. The results showed that most hypertension patients were aged 51-75 (66%). Female patients (63%) were more than male patients (37%). The most common use of antihypertensive drugs is as a single therapy (84%). The most commonly used hypertension drug class was Calcium Channel Blocker/CCB (89%). The most commonly used type of hypertension drug was amlodipine (88%). The duration of hypertension drug therapy was mostly around 10 days (88%).

Abstract

In Indonesia, couples of childbearing age who use contraceptive methods continue to increase, reaching 61.4%. According to Pattypeilohy's (2018) survey in Kupang, 57 persons (or 57% of the population) had little to no understanding about contraception. Couples of reproductive age often choose not to utilize contraceptive techniques because they are unaware of its effectiveness and how it may affect their behavior, attitudes, motivation, and actions surrounding pregnancy. Each method has advantages and disadvantages. Many women find that using contraception is sometimes problematic and may be forced to choose an inappropriate method with harmful consequences or not use a method at all. This research sought to ascertain the amount of information that couples in RW XI Makamhaji Village, Kartasura District, had about contraception. The research tool for this study is a closed-ended questionnaire, which is part of a quantitative descriptive methodology. Couples in RW XI Makamhaji Village, Kartasura District, who were of reproductive age made up the sample for this research, which included 110 participants. According to the study's findings, 67 participants (60.9%) had high knowledge, 27 participants (24.5%), adequate knowledge, and 16 participants (14.5%), less understanding.

Abstract

Secondary metabolites found in oyong leaves (Luffa acutangula (Linn.) Roxb.) include  phenolics, flavonoids, saponins, terpenes and tannins. Phenolic compounds have an important role as antioxidants. Antioxidant be able to protect the body from degenerative diseases caused by cell damage due to free radicals. Extract that undergo a purification process will give the different levels of total phenolic to the crude extract. In this research, the total phenolic content of ethanol extract and purified extract of oyong leaves will be determined. Maceration with 96% ethanol was used as an extraction technique. The liquid extraction technique was employed for extract purification, with warm water, n-hexane and ethyl acetate serving the solvent. The phenolic content was detected by Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC), the stationary phase of silica gel , the geraneous phase of n-hexane : ethyl acetate : methanol (2:7:2). Phenolic content was measured using UV-Vis Spectrophotometry, Folin-Ciocalteau reagent and standard gallic acid. The total phenolic levels obtained in the ethanol extract and purified extract of oyong leaves were (34,000 ± 0,350) mg GAE/gram extract and (40,117 ± 0,195) mg GAE/gram extract. Purified extract have higher levels because pass through a purification stage which produce pure extract with higher compound content.
