Abstract

The publication of previous articles on STEM research was still limited to describing the impact of STEM on learning and did not provide specific information on certain competencies. In addition, these publications are still limited to one level of education and subjects as sample criteria. This study aims to analyze the literature on STEM research in Indonesia in improving critical thinking skills and concepts mastery in chemistry, physics, biology, and science subjects from elementary to tertiary education levels, summarizing and disseminating a wide selection of literature. Research methods include identifying research questions, identifying relevant studies by searching for research articles in journals and conference articles in proceedings with certain keywords, selecting studies based on criteria, mapping data, then compiling, summarizing, and reporting the results. After that charting the data is synthesizing and interpreting qualitative data by sifting, charting, and sorting material according to key issues and themes. The findings from this analysis are that STEM research is dominated by the use of experimental methods (53.33%), STEM as a learning approach (71.1%), and especially PjBL (24.44) and PBL (17.78%). STEM research related to learning and developing learning tools based on learning models other than PjBL and PBL has not been done much.

Abstract

The misconception in the concept of straight motion is a problem that often occurs in physics learning. An assessment instrument that specifically aims to assess conceptual understanding of the concept of straight motion is not widely available. Therefore, this research aims to develop a valid and practical five-tier multiple-choice instrument for assessing students’ understanding of the concept of straight motion. This research was development/design (DR) using the Plomp model. The model was validated by three experts. The data collection instruments were observation questionnaires, student concept tests, self-evaluation sheets, validation sheets, and practicality sheets. The results of the validity analysis showed that the instrument is in a very valid category in the aspects of presentation, content, construction/graphics, and language. Then the results of the practicality analysis show that the instrument is in the categories in terms of convenience, attractiveness, efficiency, and usefulness. Based on these results, the instrument fulfills the valid and practical category for assessing students’ understanding of the concept of straight motion and is expected to be an alternative reference to enhance the quality of physics learning and other fields of science.

Therefore, the goal of this study is to analyze integration of pantun as local cultural literation media for elementary school students. The research is qualitative and uses the literature study method. This study was carried out by searching journals from the science education journal, ScienceDirect search engine and other keywords pantun, local cultural literacy, media literacy, and poem resulted in 2.855 articles. Derived from ScienceDirect, ERIC, and Indonesian science education. Through above process, ten appropiate articles were obtained. Then analyze, and extracted. This study also uses interview and observation instrument in two elementary schools. The subject of this researches are elementary school’s students and teachers. This study conclude that pantun can be used to improving local cultural literacy students because it is easy to remember, easy to be named, and it can be produced as a branding that can be loaded in banners, posters, flash cards, and other printing media that can be displayed in school corridors, class, gardens, squares, and anywhere that can be adapted to the content of pantun.

Abstract

The cultural heritage of Gunung Penanggungan has the potential to become a space for education for sustainable development. But it has not been optimally utilized by formal schools. This study aims to construct a learning model that can contribute to realizing the SDGs through education for sustainable development by utilizing the potential that exists in Mount Penanggungan. Design-based research is used in the development of this outdoor learning model. There are three stages of development: 1) analysis and exploration; 2) design and construction; and 3) evaluation and reflection. The subject of this study was the development of a one-day outdoor learning model involving two experts for qualitative product validation. Research data collection methods are adjusted to the research objectives, including: 1) literature studies, journals, proceedings, and relevant research books; 2) expert review; and 3) a validation sheet of the learning model draft. The data analysis used in this study is a qualitative-verifiable data analysis strategy. The results of this study show the components of the outdoor learning model, which consist of: 1) impact; 2) syntax; 3) the role of the teacher; 4) a support system; and 5) the principles of learning, have been worth testing. The outdoor learning model developed is considered to be in conformity with the objectives of ESD. School support, teacher competence and technical preparation are key to successful learning. The advantage of this model lies in the process of exploration, collaboration and reflection carried out directly in an outdoor class.
