Abstract

The low quantity and quality of sweet corn is strongly influenced by the low quality of soil and nutrients for which there is no continuous improvement making it difficult for farmers to improve the quality of sweet corn production, so research is carried out on the application of potassium fertilizer and manure to determine the growth and production of sweet corn. This research was conducted in Sei Buluh Village, Teluk Mengkudu District, Serdang Bedagai Regency from February 2022 to May 2022. This study used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors, Factor 1. KCL fertilizer 3 treatment levels, K0 = control, K1 = 1.40 g/plant. K2 = 2.80 g/plant. and Factor 2. Goat manure 4 treatment levels: P0 = control. P1 = 4 kg/plot. P2 = 8 kg/plot. P3 = 12 kg/plot. Parameters observed were plant height (cm), number of leaves, cob weight and sweetness level. Data were analyzed using Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at 5% level. The results showed that the K2 treatment of 2.80g/plant of KCL fertilizer was the best treatment for plant height and corn cob weight. The P3 treatment of 12 kg/plot of goat manure was the best treatment for the number of leaves and the weight of corn cobs. K2P3 treatment became the best interaction on the weight parameter of corn cobs with a weight of 197.42. Keywords : Corn, Potassium, Goat Manure

Abstract

The tobacco plant is one of the plants cultivated in Kebumen Regency because it has high economic value compared to other plants. The varieties planted by farmers still use local varieties, namely Jero-Jlegi and Onthel. This variety has yet to be characterized, even though this tobacco plant is familiar to Kebumen farmers. The purpose of this study was to characterize morphologically and agronomically, namely, the production of local varieties of tobacco plants in Kebumen Regency, as an effort to preserve germplasm. The research was conducted in Peniron Village, Pejagoan District, Kebumen Regency. The results showed that the Jero-Jlegi variety tobacco plants had a plant height to the top leaf of 125cm, a plant height to a stem of 70 cm, a stem diameter of 2.5cm-3cm, a leaf length of 61cm, a leaf width of 36cm, a crown width of 109cm and a total of 10 leaves. The Onthel tobacco variety has a plant height to the top leaf of 131cm, a plant height to a stem of 66 cm, a stem diameter of 3cm, a leaf length of 67cm, a leaf width of 40cm, a crown width of 136cm and a total of 9 leaves. Ha) higher than the Onthel tobacco variety, 18.4 tons/day. Characterizing a plant will be very useful in selecting elders in a plant breeding program based on the variety's description. Abstract

This study aims to determine the fertility status of irrigated paddy fields in various types of irrigation networks, as well as its relationship to crop productivity in the rice fields of Lawele Village, Lasalimu District, Buton Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province. This research was conducted from June to October 2022. The method used is a descriptive method through field surveys and analysis in the laboratory. Sampling was carried out in a moving sequence based on the type of irrigation channel, and soil samples were taken at a depth of (0-20) cm. Soil chemical parameters analyzed were C-organic, total P2O5, total K2O, KTK, and KB. Determination of fertility status is guided by the PPT Soil Research Center, Bogor (1995). Problems that occur in irrigation in Lawele Village, Lasalimu District, are uneven distribution and poor physical condition of irrigation networks, as well as low soil fertility and crop productivity for various types of irrigation. The results showed that the fertility status of irrigated paddy fields on each land irrigated with various types of irrigation networks was very low. Fertility parameters that become obstacles in this soil fertility status are total K, total P, and some soil organic C which causes low land productivity in irrigated rice fields in Lawele Village. This is due to the leaching of soil cations as well as the lack of application of organic fertilizers and NPK by irrigation. Keywords: Fertility, Productivity, Rice Field

Abstract

The teh-tehan plant or Acalypha siamensis is a plant species that is familiar as a living fence which is widely planted by rural communities. The aim of this study was to make bioherbicide from tea leaves and measure the effectiveness of Acalypha siamensis infusion as a bioherbicide against bandotan weed and its effect on rice (Oryza sativa L.). Data collection used experiments by routinely spraying Acalypha siamensis infusion on bandotan weed plants using mahogany leaves, ketapang leaves and synthetic herbicides as a comparison, then tested its effect on the growth of rice plants. Data analysis used a comparative descriptive analysis by comparing the growth of weed bandotan which was sprayed with Acalypha siamensis infusion with that which was sprayed with infusion of mahogany leaves, ketapang leaves and synthetic herbicides, then proceed with comparing the effect on the growth of rice plants. The production of bioherbicide from Acalypha siamensis is carried out by the infusion method, namely boiling in water until 1/3 (one third) of the original amount of water remains. Based on the experimental results, data was obtained that natural materials such as Acalypa siamensis leaves, mahogany leaves and ketapang leaves were proven to be able to suppress the growth of bandotan weed (Ageratum conyzoides). Based on the analysis of the BNT/LSD test, data were obtained that the ability level of Acalypha siamensis was the same as mahogany leaves and ketapang leaves but was safer for rice plant growth than mahogany leaves and ketapang leaves. Abstract

Based on Regional Statistical Data for South Konawe Regency (2021) the harvested area of patchouli plants reached 427 ha with a total production of 924 tons or an average production of 2.16 tons ha-1 in 2019, but patchouli production has decreased sharply, where in 2020 production Patchouli only achieves an average production of 0.34 tons ha-1. This also happened in Wolasi Sub-District as one of the patchouli cultivation centers for South Konawe Regency. The average production is still far below the national average. It is suspected that the soil fertility factor is one of the causes of the decreased productivity of patchouli plants in Wolasi District. This research was carried out on patchouli plantations in Wolasi District, South Konawe Regency. The research objectives were: 1) to determine the relationship between soil physical characteristics and patchouli production in Wolasi District. The research was carried out from September to November 2022. The research method used a survey method which was based on field observations and soil analysis at the Soil Science Laboratory, Halu Oleo University. Determining the location of sampling of soil and patchouli production at the location of patchouli plantations in Wolasi District uses a composite sampling technique. There are 12 soil sampling locations. The results of the soil analysis were then statistically analyzed using Microsoft Excel software. Analysis was conducted to reveal the relationship between soil physical characteristics (porosity, bulk density and soil depth) with patchouli production. The results showed that content weight had a positive correlation and affected patchouli productivity by 23.23%. Porosity has a positive correlation and affects patchouli productivity by 16.68%. Effective depth has a positive correlation and affects patchouli productivity by 36.3%.Keywords: regression analysis, patchouli productivity, soil physical properties
