Abstract

This research discussed “Abbreviation Process in Social Media Status on Instagram @dasadlatif1212 (Review of Morphology Aspect)”. This research is motivated by the widespread modification of the Indonesian language in social media status, both from ordinary people, celebrities, and religious leaders who are active on social media. This research aimed to describe the abbreviation process in social media status on Instagram @dasadlatif1212. This research method used a qualitative descriptive method with a morphological approach. The data in this study were in the form of words or sentences containing abbreviations written in 2020, while the source of data in this study was the status written by the Instagram account @dasadlatif1212. The results show that there are four abbreviation processes in the status of the social media account Instagram @dasadlatif1212, namely the process of letter retention, syllable retention, letter retention, and syllables and word abbreviations that summarize the basic lexeme or lexeme combination.

Abstract

This study investigates how high school English teachers in different locations (SMA Negeri 3 in Aru Island Regency and SMA Negeri 4 in central Maluku Regency) utilize Bloom’s taxonomy in their questions to improve students’ reading comprehension. Using qualitative methods such as observation, interviews, and documentation, the researcher reveals various question types employed by these teachers, ranging from literal to appreciation questions. Analyzing the questions through Bloom’s taxonomy, the study finds that while teachers cover cognitive levels from understanding to evaluation, questions related to analysis and evaluation are relatively scarce. This suggests a potential oversight in fostering critical thinking skills in reading comprehension instruction. Despite this, the study concludes that the learning process leads to notable improvements in students’ reading comprehension at these schools.

Abstract

Considering Polman Bandung is a public higher education institution, it has a responsibility to evaluate how satisfactorily its services are received by its customers. However, Polman Bandung currently lacks a valid and reliable measurement tool, so it is necessary to create one so that the results can be more credibly reported. This study aims to obtain an instrument model for measuring customer satisfaction with the services provided by Polman Bandung. This study was a qualitative analysis study using the grounded research methodology to obtain new perspectives for developing customer satisfaction measuring tools.  Activities that have been carried out include formulating the dimensions of customer satisfaction to be measured by combining 14 elements of the community service satisfaction index from KEMENPAN no.25/2004, 9 elements of service satisfaction dimensions from PERMENPAN no.14/2017, and the CARTER dimension which consists of 6 dimensions so that new dimensions are obtained in measuring service satisfaction with Polman Bandung institutions. The dimensions formulated into CHARACTER consist of 9 dimensions, namely Compliance, Handling complaints, Assurance, Reliability, Ability to serve, Clarity, Tangibility, Empathy, and Responsiveness. These nine dimensions are then derived into question items in the form of a questionnaire used to measure the level of service satisfaction provided by the institution to its customers. Responses from 757 respondents from internal and external customers were used in the quantitative analysis to test the validity and reliability of the measurement instrument. The result of this research showed measurement instrument's validity and reliability tests revealed that 18 elements are determined to be valid, and the highest validity value for each dimension is chosen to serve as a question item in the instrument that has up to 9 question items, in addition, the Cronbach's alpha reliability number is 0.945, allowing for proper use of the tool.

Abstract

As a dynamic cultural event, the contemporary art of the Congwayndut group is always produced with a unique dramaturgy, contemporary and innovative setting. Congwayndut provides a sense of humour with an all-ages segmentation to entertain audiences. Regarding to the case, this paper attempts to examine performance studies through the use of performance studies reading schemes, social drama theory, and trickster in cultural practice. Through the "abnormality" of the Congwayndut perfomance, the research shows three findings namely the categorisation of stage attacks, subsidised cross-performances, and pure performances. This performance is executed with flexibility which indicating a novelty. Planning or the performance strategy that set in back stage can be different when it has been on the stage. The improvisation even provides the aesthetics of its puppet performance. The key aspect of humour and novelty in the Congwayndut is positioned at the role strategy of entul and trickster. This is very crucial in bringing the atmosphere of the performance to life, sowing the messages of the performance, and fostering a renewed image of contemporary puppet performance that is attractive to all levels of society.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the impact of the influence of parents on the interest of accounting students in determining a career as an accountant profession. Family members who have careers in accounting can influence the interest of accounting students in determining a career in the same field as their families. This research was conducted at the Samarinda State Polytechnic. Correspondents took as many as 50 correspondents. This study shows that family culture can influence accounting students to work as accountants. In Indonesia, the culture or habit of a strong bond with family and children is relatively high in choosing a career as an accountant profession. The result of this study proves that family has a significant influence on the selection of students for the accounting profession.

Abstract

The income of Indonesian workers sent to their families in their hometown will affect changes in the economic conditions of the families of Indonesian workers in terms of education. This study aims to determine the effect of remittances made by Indonesian workers who work abroad on the education of their family members in the area of origin. This study aimed to determine whether Indonesian workers who work abroad are aware of the importance of using remittances as the fee for their family education. As education is a basic need and benefits the improvement of the education of the nation's children. This research used qualitative research methods with data taken from Jungkat Village, Mempawah Regency. This study showed that most Indonesian workers in the village work to earn a living and provide appropriate education to their family members. In addition, remittances allow families in their hometowns to easily receive the salary given by Indonesian workers abroad. However, there are also disadvantages for those Indonesian workers who send remittances, as families and communities do not know each other that well.

Abstract

Cultural and wellness tourism is one of the tourism assets that can be developed to support sustainable tourism. Yoga, meditation, and self-purification are components of Balinese culture that are practised by many Indonesians and foreigners alike. Yoga, meditation, and self-purification activities can be used to promote cultural and wellness tourism to attract domestic and foreign tourists. This research was conducted to determine whether yoga, meditation, and self-purification activities support cultural tourism in Bali. The research method used is a qualitative method where data were collected through interviews and field observations. The data were then analyzed descriptively. This study found that yoga, meditation, and self-purification activities can be used to promote cultural and wellness tourism in Bali. This research has implications that yoga, meditation, and self-purification activities can be designed to be used for sustainable cultural tourism activities and can also be used for attractive promotional media.

Abstract

Local wisdom plays a crucial role in disaster mitigation, as exemplified during the 2023 eruption of Mount Merapi. Amid the eruption, societal myths circulated, asserting that Merapi erupted to conceal mining-induced holes. The statement was made by the Sultan of Yogyakarta Special District (Sultan DIY) during an interview with the media. It then receives responses and pros and cons from the community, then forms a community perspective. Researchers analyzed data from a Jogja TV interview with the Sultan, using semiotic analysis and Foucault's power relations theory. The findings reveal that there is discourse and knowledge that portrays Merapi's eruption as a corrective response to mining damage. This narrative gained societal acceptance, highlighting the influential role of local authorities in shaping disaster perceptions. However, the discourse also raises the counterpoint of disagreement.

Abstract

Utilization of management of dusung (agricultural land) communally by a household (clan) is part of the tradition of the people of Ullath Village, Maluku province, passed on for generations. This research highlights the phenomenon of norms and cultures that impact internal conflicts from the perspective of household and livelihood transition. This study aims to explore and analyse the causes of the household livelihood transition and identify the household’s strategies for livelihood sustainability. Observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews were conducted with clove farmers, tuan negeri (landlords), and kewang to collect relevant data. The results show that the dynamics of communal management of dusung in one household led to conflict. To resolve the conflict, the resolution was to plant cloves together with different gadihu plants as a symbol or identity of each owner. However, it did not resolve the whole conflict due to fraud, and in the end, the farmers chose to do other work. For their households’ livelihood sustainability, they did tipar mayang jobs by keeping and renting the dusung, and implementing the maano system. This study emphasizes the norms and culture of local communities related to the management of dusung, which can lead to conflicts and livelihood transitions

Abstract

This research is qualitative descriptive research that aims to (1) describe the elements of humans, nature, and God in the megibung tradition, (2) the relationship between humans, nature, and God in the megibung tradition, (3) describe the transfer of the vehicle for digitising gibing folklore as a type of folklore that is always maintained in the globalisation era. Data collection methods used in this research are documentation, observation (observations in the field), and interviews. The research results show that in the megibung tradition, the elements of humans, God, and nature are interrelated and influence each other. Humans are associated with the presence of God through gratitude and offerings, while the human relationship with nature is reflected in the use of natural resources and awareness of natural balance. This tradition teaches spiritual values, gratitude, and concern for nature as integral to the megibung experience. One of the efforts that can be made so that the gibing tradition remains stable in the digitalisation era is to transfer the vehicle for the gibing tradition from documentation in the form of oral discourse to digitalisation. Through this digital vehicle, people worldwide can get to know and appreciate the richness of Balinese culture and the gibing tradition virtually. It can also be an exciting way to promote tourism and preserve Balinese cultural traditions in the digital age.
