Abstract

In line with international best practices, countries across the globe are intensifying their teacher education institutions to train world-class teachers to feed their schools. Against this background, this research work tried to determine how robust the admission process at the Presbyterian College of Education, Akropong, is. This is because admitting students into the College of Education is the first step in ensuring a sound teacher training program. The study was quantitative and used secondary data; that is, students' West Africa Senior High School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) entry results against their Final GPA at the College of Education were used for the data analysis. The analysis proved that those who entered the College of Education with good grades from the Senior High School exited with good GPAs, and the inverse was true. The researcher recommends that the college move beyond the regular training and put in measures to ensure that most students can improve their performance to be at par with the current demands of a world-class teacher.

Abstract

Students generally experience errors in two forms, namely conceptual and execution errors. Conceptual errors are related to students' lack of understanding, while execution errors occur when attempting to solve problems with incomplete procedures. This study aims to measure students' understanding of concepts after learning. The misconception analysis in this study used a four-tier diagnostic test. The results of this test provide five categories of student answers, namely understanding concept (understand), incomplete understanding (partial understanding), misconception, not understanding the concept (not understand), and cannot be coded (uncode). This research uses a mixed method. The data analysis phase is carried out by analyzing the data collected as Matching Familiar Figure Test (MFFT), four-tier diagnostic test data results, and in-depth interview data based on the results of the study concluded that in terms of students' reflective-impulsive cognitive style, impulsive students tend to experience higher misconceptions than reflective students.

Abstract

Anxiety towards a particular subject is experienced by most students in various schools, especially in mathematics. This research aims to determine the influence of self-efficacy and self-anxiety on mathematics in one of the schools in Cirebon City. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique, with a sample size of 40 students, each representing a higher grade. This study employs a quantitative approach. The data analysis techniques used are regression analysis and ANOVA test. The results of the research conclude that self-efficacy does not have a significant influence on self-anxiety in mathematics. Based on the R-Square analysis, a coefficient of determination of 0.238 is obtained, indicating that self-efficacy accounts for 28.5% of the influence on self-anxiety, while other variables influence the remaining 71.5%. Meanwhile, the ANOVA analysis shows a value of ÿ1 of 0.232. This means that each unit increase in the coefficient of self-efficacy will influence 0.232 on self-anxiety. Additionally, ÿ is equals 45.146, which means that if self-efficacy (d) is equal to 0, self-anxiety will be equal to 15.382. Therefore, it can be concluded that self-efficacy does not have a significant influence on self-anxiety in students, particularly in the subject of mathematics.

Abstract

The eligibility of recipients of government assistance programs for rural communities is an essential problem in this study. The distribution of recipients of government assistance programs was found to be misdirected. Some rich people receive government assistance programs, but some poor people do not receive government assistance programs. One of the government assistance programs is Community Based Development (CBD), a community development activity directed at increasing community access to achieve better socioeconomic conditions than before development activities to become more independent with a better quality of life and welfare. Everyone wants this assistance program, but the eligibility level of recipients is a problem in distributing it. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D). To solve this problem, a decision support system must be created to assist the Dawuan District Office assess the beneficiaries' eligibility. The Composite Performance Index (CPI) method is needed to determine the provision of CBD assistance by using the criteria of income, housing conditions, education, and environment in the calculation. Each criterion's data from each alternative is weighted and summed to get the CPI value and used for ranking. Based on the results of system testing, the data from the calculation of the CPI method can be used as recommendations that follow the eligibility level of the beneficiaries. The most considerable CPI value is 285 on behalf of Mr. Sarip, who first prioritizes getting assistance from the CBD program. The second priority is on behalf of Mr. Budi, who has a CPI score of 265, to be the following reference as a recipient of assistance from the CBD program.

Abstract

The study aimed to examine how Gardner's Multiple Intelligences applied to Ghana's Senior High School's core mathematics curriculum and instruction. The Core Mathematics curriculum was the primary document reviewed for the study. The action verbs used in the objective, section teacher-learner activities section, and the evaluation section of the core mathematics syllabus were identified and grouped with respect to the multiple intelligences. The analysis revealed that the mathematics curriculum was linked to several intelligences, although some intelligence was underserved. The Senior High School Mathematics Curriculum fails to consider diverse learning styles and preferences. It should provide a diverse range of topics using various instructional techniques. However, children with different intelligences should not experience mathematics as a hindrance. A re-evaluation is necessary to address these issues.

Abstract

The stock market is dynamic and highly chaotic due to its complicated nature. The prediction of future stock prices has gained the interest of investors and researchers. Numerous conventional and hybrid approaches were put forth. The projections performed poorly and strangely did not get any better. This study aimed to predict Philippine Stock Exchange closing prices using a proposed hybrid method. This proposed study aimed to improve the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) performance using the Kepler Optimization Algorithm, a metaheuristic algorithm, in conjunction with the Artificial Neural Network (ANN-KOA). ANN is a widely accepted technique in predicting. Still, the Kepler Optimization Algorithm can provide random initial inputs for the method through effective feature selection. It can identify superior subsets of input variables to integrate into ANN, enabling more accurate prediction. In this study, the ups and downs were grouped, and 12 technical indicators with varying lengths of days 3, 5, 10, 15, and 20 were used to decompose the original historical data, which are regular and smoother than the original data. The historical data was normalized into [-1, 1], so the predicted result would be 0 (decrease) or 1 (increase) otherwise. Finally, to obtain the train and test data, it was fused into five groups and tested using the ANN and ANN-KOA. The experiment's outcome of 0 (a declining stock price) indicates two alternative courses of action based on the two scenarios: holding if investors have already purchased it or purchasing if they haven't made a decision. In this proposed study, ANN-KOA resulted in higher accuracy than ANN. However, regarding the number of elapsed times, KOA-ANN provided a slower time than ANN. On the other hand, in terms of variations of lengths of the days, 3-5-10-KOA-ANN outperformed the variations of lengths of days: 3-5-10-ANN, 3-5-10-15-KOA-ANN, 3-5-10-15-20-KOA, and 3-5-10-15-20-KOA-ANN. In conclusion, this study suggested that it be utilized for other problems, such as predicting academic performance, diseases, floods, etc.
