Abstract

The significance of learning interest as a prerequisite for academic success serves as the driving force behind this study. However, there are currently few studies that explicitly examine the relationship between parenting styles and learning interests in the context of madrasahs, particularly in Islamic Religious Education courses. Thus, for the academic year 2025–2026, this study intends to examine the connection between parenting practices and students' enthusiasm in learning at MA Al-Huda Kota Gorontalo. This study employs an ex post facto correlational design and a quantitative methodology. A random selection procedure was used to select 112 respondents from the 156 students who comprised the research population. A Likert-scale questionnaire that had undergone validity and reliability testing was used to collect the data, and Pearson correlation and simple linear regression were used for analysis. The study's findings show that parenting style and students' motivation in learning are positively and statistically significantly correlated, albeit the correlation is weak (r = 0.232). Parenting style's 5.4% contribution to learning interest is likewise regarded as modest, suggesting that the majority of learning interest is impacted by variables not included in this study. In addition to enhancing research in the setting of madrasahs and Islamic Religious Education, this study makes theoretical advances by claiming that parenting style is a contextual factor related to learning interest but not a dominant factor. Practically speaking, the study's findings highlight how crucial it is for family parenting practices and the educational setting to work together to boost students' enthusiasm for learning

Abstract

Social conflicts between communities in Mataram City often escalate due to poor emotional control and strong group solidarity, requiring a more humane, context-sensitive approach to resolution. This study aims to analyze the role of the police in managing social conflicts by integrating Islamic values and socio-cultural wisdom, and to propose an integrated model of conflict management. This study employs a qualitative case study approach, with data collection techniques including direct observation at the incident site, in-depth interviews with police officers, government officials, and community leaders, and documentation of social conflicts. Informants were selected through snowball sampling, and data analysis used the Miles and Huberman interactive model, encompassing data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research findings indicate that conflicts that initially have an individual nature can escalate into communal conflicts. The role of the police is not merely that of law enforcers, but also as social facilitators employing an approach grounded in Islamic values such as ukhuwah (brotherhood), tasamuh (tolerance), and islah (reconciliation), as well as local wisdom such as musyawarah (deliberation) and gotong royong (cooperation). This study contributes by offering an integrated model that combines religious values and socio-cultural wisdom as a strategic framework for sustainable conflict management. This approach has proven effective in mitigating conflicts and fostering long-term reconciliation among communities.

Abstract

Students’ understanding of number concepts in early elementary grades varies, indicating the need for instructional media and approaches aligned with learners’ characteristics. This study aims to analyze differences in first-grade students’ understanding of natural number concepts based on learning styles (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic) using the Maze Game and number card learning media. A quantitative approach with a factorial experimental design was employed. The subjects were first-grade students from SDN WADAS 1 (experimental class) and SDN WADAS IV (control class). Data were collected using a natural-number concept comprehension test and a learning-style questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using a two-way ANOVA to examine the effects of learning media, learning styles, and their interaction on students’ conceptual understanding. The results indicate significant differences in students’ understanding of natural number concepts, depending on learning style, across both learning media. Students with visual and kinesthetic learning styles achieved higher comprehension scores than those with auditory learning styles. Additionally, a significant interaction effect between learning media and learning styles was identified, suggesting that the effectiveness of instructional media depends on students’ learning style characteristics. Learning styles and instructional media significantly influence students’ understanding of natural number concepts. Instruction that integrates visual elements and physical activities is more effective in improving mathematics learning outcomes among early-grade elementary students. Therefore, teachers are encouraged to design adaptive learning strategies that accommodate diverse learning styles.

Abstract

The increasing complexity of educational systems, driven by digital transformation, globalization, and sustainability demands, has made educational transformational leadership a critical research area. The rapid growth of publications, however, has led to fragmented knowledge, limiting a comprehensive understanding of its intellectual structure and thematic evolution. This study conducts a bibliometric analysis of 372 Scopus-indexed documents (comprising journal articles and review articles) published between 2016 and 2026, retrieved using a structured search query targeting the term “transformational leadership” in the title, abstract, and keywords fields. Using performance analysis and science mapping with VOSviewer and Microsoft Excel, the study examines publication trends, key contributors, citation patterns, collaboration networks, and conceptual structures. The results reveal a significant rise in publications, especially after 2020, peaking in 2025, indicating growing academic interest. The United States leads in contributions, followed by Indonesia and other Asian countries, reflecting increasing global participation. Thematic evolution shows a shift from traditional focuses on school effectiveness toward emerging themes such as digital transformation, artificial intelligence, teacher well-being, and sustainability. Two primary research clusters are identified through bibliographic coupling analysis using VOSviewer, with limited integration between traditional and contemporary approaches, indicating a conceptual gap. These findings highlight the need for an integrative framework that bridges classical leadership theories with digital and sustainability-oriented perspectives. A key limitation of this study is its reliance on a single database (Scopus), which may exclude relevant studies indexed elsewhere.

Abstract

Deep learning is a new learning approach that enables students to develop higher-order thinking skills. This study aims to examine the role of principals’ empowering leadership in enhancing teacher performance in the implementation of deep learning in primary education. The study offers novelty through the integration of empowering leadership, deep learning pedagogy, and collaborative school culture in explaining improvements in teacher performance. Using a qualitative case study design at SD Labschool UPI Purwakarta, this research involved one principal, two teachers, and four students. Data were collected over two months through interviews, classroom observations, and Likert-scale questionnaires measuring teachers’ and students’ perceptions of deep learning implementation, and were analyzed using an interactive thematic approach involving data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that principals’ empowering leadership is manifested through three main practices: building professional trust, encouraging participative decision-making, and facilitating continuous professional learning and instructional innovation. These practices strengthen teachers’ capacity to implement deep learning effectively through reflective practice, pedagogical autonomy, and meaningful student engagement. In addition, a collaborative and reflective school culture emerged as an important enabling factor that mediates and reinforces the influence of empowering leadership on teacher performance. This study highlights that empowering leadership functions not only as a managerial practice but also as a transformative force in building collective professional capacity and sustaining instructional quality improvement in primary education.

Abstract

The integration of 21st-century skills (4Cs) in EFL reading instruction has become a central expectation in higher education; however, its implementation in General English contexts remains uneven, particularly in Intensive English Programs (IEPs). This study aimed to investigate the difficulties lecturers encounter in integrating critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity into reading instruction at UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon. Using a qualitative case study design, data were gathered through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews with three lecturers, and document analysis of instructional materials. The data were analyzed thematically following Braun and Clarke’s framework. The findings revealed six interconnected challenges: procedural reading tasks, low cognitive demand, limited instructional time, superficial collaboration practices, insufficient cognitively directive instructional language, and assessment practices that prioritized accuracy over reasoning. These challenges indicate that the integration of the 4Cs is constrained not only by lecturers’ pedagogical decisions but also by task design, classroom implementation, and institutional program demands. The study concludes that effective integration of 4Cs in reading instruction requires greater attention to micro-level instructional design rather than relying solely on general pedagogical awareness. It is recommended that lecturers incorporate cognitively directive tasks, structured collaborative activities, and assessment practices emphasizing reasoning and interpretation. These findings contribute to a more nuanced understanding of how 4Cs can be operationalized in intensive EFL contexts.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools (pondok pesantren) play an important role in shaping students’ character, spirituality, and intellectual development. In addition to providing religious education, pesantren also support the development of students’ intellectual independence through higher-order thinking skills (HOTS). This study aims to analyze the integration of caregiving systems, guidance and counseling services, HOTS development, and intellectual independence at Riyadul Ulum Wadda’wah Islamic Boarding School and Al Amin Islamic Boarding School. The novelty of this study lies in examining how caregiving practices in pesantren are integrated with guidance and counseling approaches to foster students’ intellectual independence and critical thinking abilities. This study employed a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation involving caregivers, teachers, counselors, and students. The findings show that guidance and counseling–based caregiving systems support the development of students’ intellectual independence by encouraging analytical, evaluative, and creative thinking in both academic and daily life contexts. Counseling activities, mentoring, and disciplined caregiving practices also help students develop problem-solving skills, self-confidence, and independent decision-making. The study concludes that integrating caregiving, counseling, and HOTS-oriented learning can strengthen students’ intellectual independence within the pesantren educational environment.

Abstract

This study addresses the problem of how indigenous communities maintain cultural continuity, ecological balance, and health resilience amid the pressures of modernization. Focusing on Kampung Adat Miduana in Cianjur, West Java, this research aims to analyze the relationship among local knowledge, ritual practices, ecological wisdom, and longevity within the community. This study employs a qualitative ethnographic method, collecting data through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation with traditional leaders, ritual practitioners, elders, and community members. The results show that the longevity of the Miduana community is closely related to a natural lifestyle, including a plant-based diet, consumption of untreated spring water, regular physical activity through farming and walking in mountainous areas, and a balanced psychological-spiritual life rooted in Islamic values and local traditions. The community also utilizes approximately 120 medicinal plants and maintains ecological practices that support both health and environmental sustainability. In addition, agricultural rituals and communal traditions function as mechanisms of social cohesion, cultural transmission, and environmental awareness. This study concludes that Kampung Adat Miduana represents a sustainable indigenous model of living that integrates health, spirituality, local knowledge, and environmental harmony, although modernization remains a challenge to cultural preservation.

Abstract

Air transportation relies on Standard Screening Requirements (SSR) to ensure safety, inherently placing passengers under intensive surveillance. This research analyzes the implementation dynamics of SSR in Indonesia through an integrative qualitative approach. Primary data was gathered via Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with key aviation stakeholders comprising regulators, airport operators, airlines, technology providers, and users, and analyzed using NVivo thematic coding. This was triangulated with a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of 58 eligible articles to synthesize global perspectives on passenger surveillance. The findings demonstrate that SSR effectiveness depends heavily on aligning human resource capacity, standardized infrastructure, and stakeholder synergy. While the public broadly accepts these security measures when conducted seamlessly and professionally, significant challenges persist due to regional infrastructure disparities and capacity constraints across Indonesia's complex geography. Ultimately, this study contributes to the literature by proposing an integrative socio-technical framework, demonstrating that equitable infrastructure modernization and collaborative governance are essential to sustaining operational efficiency and promoting security-led economic growth.

Abstract

Learning Basic Biology Concepts in the Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) program is often delivered in a theoretical manner and remains insufficiently connected to students' ecological and cultural contexts. This study aimed to develop an e-module based on Merangin local wisdom, examine its feasibility and practicality, and analyze its potential as a contextual learning resource for elementary biology. The study applied a research and development design using the ADDIE framework, supported by qualitative exploration of local ecological knowledge. Data were collected through field observations, interviews with customary leaders and local environmental managers, analysis of curriculum documents, expert validation questionnaires, and student response questionnaires. The local wisdom integrated into the e-module comprised the Lubuk Larangan river conservation system, Rantau Kermas Customary Forest governance, and the Merangin Geopark, which were mapped onto ecosystem, environmental conservation, biodiversity, and evolution materials. Expert validation showed an overall feasibility score of 90.9%, categorized as highly feasible, while the limited practicality test with second-semester PGSD students produced a score of 89.4%, categorized as highly practical. These findings indicate that the e-module can bridge biological concepts with local ecological knowledge while strengthening cultural literacy and conservation awareness among pre-service elementary teachers.
