Abstract

This study investigates the impact of Open Banking adoption on micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) credit access in emerging economies, with a specific focus on cash-flow based lending enabled through account aggregation APIs. Utilizing panel data of 150 MSMEs that applied for bank or fintech credit between 2022 and 2024, we employ fixed-effects regression to examine how the API Adoption Index and Cash-Flow Completeness Score influence approval rate, time-to-decision (“time-to-yes”), and non-performing loan (NPL) ratios. Results indicate that a 10 % increase in the API Adoption Index is associated with a 4.2 % rise in approval rate (p < 0.01), a 35 % reduction in time-to-yes, and a 1.8 percentage point reduction in NPL. These findings fill a critical gap in literature by providing empirical evidence specific to emerging-market MSMEs and highlight policy implications for regulators and financial institutions aiming to boost inclusive lending through data sharing frameworks.

Abstract

The digital transformation of the banking industry, accelerated by regulatory shifts toward Open Banking, presents both technological and human capital challenges. This study examines the role of Human Resource Management (HRM) in enabling the successful adoption of digital banking innovations in emerging markets. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research analyzes survey data from 120 banking professionals and conducts interviews with senior HR managers from five leading commercial banks. The findings reveal that HRM strategies focusing on competency development, change management, and ethical compliance significantly influence the success rate of Open Banking integration projects. Quantitative analysis indicates a positive correlation between digital skill readiness and the efficiency of API-enabled service rollouts, while qualitative insights highlight the importance of cultural transformation in overcoming resistance to change. The study offers theoretical contributions to the HRM and digital transformation literature, and practical implications for policymakers and financial institutions aiming to align human capital strategies with technological advancements.

Abstract

Zakat is a portion of an individual's wealth that must be paid out of their possessions because it contains the rights of others that must be given or purified. History demonstrates the power of zakat in alleviating poverty between 717 and 720 AD during the reign of the Caliph Umar bin Abdul Aziz. In Indonesia, the poverty rate remains high, with 23.85 million people still trapped in poverty. One approach the Indonesian government can take is to optimize zakat receipts and then distribute them appropriately and professionally. Through zakat, poverty will be reduced and economic activity in society will increase. Furthermore, the Indonesian government already has Zakat Collection Institutions (Amil Zakat) and Zakat Agencies (Bandung Amil Zakat). The government's task is to develop policies and procedures for these existing zakat institutions to eradicate poverty from Indonesia. Research shows that zakat plays a significant role in wealth redistribution and poverty reduction. However, challenges in zakat collection and distribution require careful monitoring to ensure compliance with regulations and ensure zakat's effectiveness.

A total of 176 Generation Z respondents from Greater Jakarta (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi) were selected using purposive sampling. The study employed a quantitative approach with a structured Likert-scale questionnaire, and data were analyzed using IBM SPSS version 22.0. Several statistical tests, including validity, reliability, classical assumption, and multiple regression analysis, were conducted. The results indicate that social media influence and peer pressure have a significant positive effect on impulsive buying behavior, whereas BNPL does not show a statistically significant impact. These findings highlight the stronger role of social environment and digital exposure in shaping consumer impulsiveness compared to deferred payment methods. The study provides insights for marketers, policymakers, and financial service providers on managing consumer behavior in the digital commerce landscape.

Abstract

This study explores the influence of digital taxation on the growth of micro, small, and medium enterprises in Indonesia within the context of the recent transition toward a more digitized economy. Using a mixed methods approach, the research combines survey data with in-depth interviews to capture both quantitative and qualitative insights. The findings indicate that digital tax understanding, implementation practices, and perceived business impacts are closely associated with enterprise development, particularly in enhancing operational efficiency, formalization, and access to financial services. Qualitative evidence highlights that while digital tax compliance promotes greater accountability and competitiveness, challenges remain regarding limited literacy, adaptation costs, and regulatory complexity. The study emphasizes the need for simplified procedures, supportive policies, and structured education programs to ensure that digital taxation contributes positively to sustainable economic growth. These results provide implications for policymakers, tax authorities, and practitioners engaged in fostering a more inclusive fiscal environment.

Abstract

Since writing involves complex rules, teachers’ written feedback plays a crucial role. However, students are sometimes dissatisfied because they do not fully understand teachers’ expectations. This study investigates high school students’ preferences regarding the focus and strategy of teachers’ written feedback, emphasizing differences between high and low achievers. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through document analysis and semi-structured interviews with one English teacher and nine third-grade students at a senior high school in Bandung, West Java. The findings indicate that students’ language proficiency did not affect their preferences. Both high and low achievers favored form-focused feedback—particularly grammar, vocabulary, and mechanics—over content-focused feedback, influenced by their grammatical difficulties and the teacher’s feedback style. They also preferred indirect feedback strategies, such as underlining, symbols, and codes, because these methods promote self-correction, reflective learning, and long-term retention. However, some students struggled to interpret codes and occasionally appreciated direct feedback. The study highlights the need to balance form- and content-focused feedback and to combine direct and indirect strategies to address diverse learning needs. These findings enhance understanding of students’ feedback preferences in the high school EFL context, offering insights for teachers to design more effective and meaningful feedback.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of physical education as a social space that fosters student participation and social cohesion in elementary schools. The research was conducted at UPT SD Negeri 179 Inpres Balang using a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and Focus Group Discussion (FGD), and then analyzed through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that student participation in physical education is not only limited to physical involvement but also includes social interactions, teamwork, decision-making, and peer support. Supporting factors of participation include students’ internal motivation, the role of PE teachers, adequate facilities, and a supportive social environment, while inhibiting factors consist of limited facilities, differences in physical ability, less supportive learning climate, external factors, and lack of parental support. Furthermore, physical education significantly contributes to building social cohesion by enhancing social interactions, fostering solidarity, reducing discrimination, shaping sportive and democratic character, and serving as a medium for conflict resolution. Thus, physical education functions as a strategic instrument to strengthen values of equality, togetherness, and social integration in elementary schools.

Abstract

The development of technology and digitalization has given rise to a new phenomenon in the world of sports—e-sports—which shifts the concept of sports from physical activities to the virtual realm. This study aims to analyze the position of e-sports within the context of physical education and its implications for the changing meaning of physical activity from a socio-cultural perspective. The research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach through literature review, academic articles, and relevant previous studies. The findings indicate that although e-sports do not require intensive physical activity, they possess competitive characteristics similar to traditional sports, particularly in aspects of strategy, sportsmanship, and teamwork. The popularity of e-sports among younger generations presents both challenges and opportunities for physical education to integrate digital literacy, 21st-century skills, and values of sportsmanship without neglecting the importance of physical health. Socio-culturally, e-sports reflect the dynamics of digital society while reaffirming that the meaning of sports is dynamic and contextual. Therefore, educators, communities, and the government need to play an active role in guiding the development of e-sports to maintain a balance between physical, educational, and achievement dimensions.

Abstract

The rapid development of financial technology has given rise to various financial product innovations, one of which is the Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) service, such as SPayLater, which is increasingly popular among Indonesians. This phenomenon has created an urgent need to analyze the compatibility of this practice with Islamic economic principles. The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze the operational mechanisms of SPayLater from an Islamic economic perspective. This study uses a qualitative method with a documentary study approach. Data was collected by identifying and examining public information listed on the Shopee application regarding SPayLater products, which includes terms and conditions, cost structures, and penalty policies. The collected data was then analyzed using qualitative content analysis techniques to describe the mechanisms of the SPayLater practice organized by PT Commerce Finance and evaluate them based on Sharia law standards. The results of the study indicate that the SPayLater practice contains several elements that fundamentally contradict the principles of Islamic muamalah. Three main aspects were found that make this service haram: first, the imposition of interest on installments, which is clearly categorized as riba an-nasi'ah; second, late fees, which are also a form of riba because they are a source of income for lenders; and third, percentage-based administrative fees that contain elements of gharar (uncertainty), thus not meeting the requirement of clarity of wages (ujrah).
