Abstract

This article is based on the empirical experience of the author in creating the Babaran Agung batik pattern at the Sekar Ayu Batik Studio in Tuban, East Java, in 2023. The process of creating this batik pattern involved an academic approach supported by a studio approach. The academic approach refers to a systematic process that must involve scientific principles in the creation of the batik pattern, while the studio approach emphasizes practicality, though not entirely. The combination of these two approaches has not been found by the creator in various references regarding the process of creating batik pattern. Therefore, the purpose of this writing is to enrich the concept of batik motif creation by combining academic elements supported by a studio approach. Methodologically, the creation of this batik motif was carried out through three stages: exploration, design, and realization, each of which involved the studio approach. The result of the creation is a hand-drawn batik fabric with the Babaran Agung motif, applied to ready-to-wear deluxe items and presented at the Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) 2023.

Abstract

Manipulating fabric is a technique in engineering textile materials to produce new textile materials which aim to beautify clothing, one of which is through the ruffle technique which can be applied to create a wrinkled effect on the fabric so that it produces a new visualization, namely making it wavy and voluminous. The work highlights the zodiac Pisces, which is symbolized by a pair of fish swimming in opposite directions. Pisces is a zodiac sign born on February 18-March 19. This zodiac sign is considered to be a person who likes adventure and has a great imagination. According to Greek mythology, these two fish are Aphrodite. Aphrodite is the symbol of the most beautiful Greek goddess who is the goddess of love and beauty. Due to the nature of Pisces, which has unlimited imagination, the creator uses a creation method consisting of exploration, experimentation and realization. The results of this work are six RTW Deluxe in the evening gown category which will be presented in the form of a fashion show at the Jogja Fashion Parade 2024 event.

Abstract

The creation of this work is based on the empirical fact that, the Struggle Monument of TKR Division III Headquarters has never been used as a batik motif made with batik writing and stamp techniques. Therefore, the purpose of this work is to add batik motifs whose motifs contain historical values of the struggle of the Indonesian nation. Ready to wear deluxe was chosen as an application medium combined with tie dye techniques because the segmentation of this work is the upper middle class who like this type of clothing. To achieve this goal, the creation method used is exploration, design and embodiment with visual reference to the 2024/2025 Resilient fashion trend, namely Heritage sub-theme Reminiscence. The result of the creative process of this work is four deluxe ready to wear looks with casual ethnic styles presented at Indonesia International Modest Fashion 2023.

Abstract

Tulisan yang berjudul “Busana Tradisi Batobo Sebagai Inspirasi Busana Art of Beat Style”, merupakan suatu bentuk penggarapan karya busana. Karya ini mengangkat tradisi batobo yang ada di daerah Kuansing, Teluk Kuantan, yaitu situasi bergotong royong dalam mengerjakan lahan pertanian secara bergantian antara anggota tobo. Orang yang pergi batobo memakai pakaian yang berlapis-lapis yang berfungsi untuk mengurangi rasa panas dan melindungi tubuh dari miang. Pemakaian busana batobo dilengkapi juga dengan caping sebagai pelindung kepala serta memakai sepatu bot. Keunikan dari busana tradisi batobo ini memberikan tantangan baru bagi pengkarya untuk menciptakan busana yang fashionable, dan bisa dipakai untuk berbagai kesempatan dengan style art of beat. Busana art of beat ini dikombinasikan dengan kain batik yang berasal dari Kuantan Singingi yang identik menggunakan warna-warna yang cerah dan mencolok sehingga menambah kesan art of beat pada busana. Penciptaan karya ini menggunakan metode eksplorasi, perancangan, perwujudan hingga penyajian karya. Proses penciptaan karya busana menggunakan teknik standar butik dengan menggunakan pelapis (furing), rapi serta apik sehingga menghasilkan busana dengan 3 tingkatan yaitu busana ready to wear, ready to wear deluxe dan haute couture

Abstract

Karya yang berjudul “Rumoh Aceh Sebagai Inspirasi Busana Unisex” terinspirasi dari elemen dan ornamen Rumoh Aceh yang diwujudkan dalam bentuk busana unisex. Mengekspresikan Rumoh Aceh ke dalam bentuk busana unisex serta menjadi ajang promosi kepada khalayak umum. Busana unisex yang diwujudkan berupa overall, jas, turtleneck, kemeja, outer, celana kulot, serta celana balon. Sebagian ornamen Rumoh Aceh diterapkan pada motif kain tenun Peulalu khas Aceh Timur sebagai pendukung busana. Pemilihan warna terinspirasi langsung dari Rumoh Aceh yaitu warna kuning, merah, putih, hijau, coklat, dan hitam. Bahan yang digunakan yaitu wol cashmere dan tenun Peulalu. Metode penciptaan dimulai dengan persiapan, yaitu mencari literatur atau referensi yang berkaitan dengan ide penciptaan, melakukan survei lapangan untuk menemukan sumber ide atau tema, dan membuat rumusan ide penciptaan untuk memberikan pemahaman yang lebih baik tentang bentuk karya yang dibuat. Perwujudan karya menggunakan teknik penyambungan dan butik. Detail busana diwujudkan dengan teknik fabric manipulation dan sulam payet. Terdiri dari tingkatan busana ready to wear, ready to wear deluxe dan houte couture, busana ini dapat digunakan untuk kegiatan sehari-hari, busana kerja, busana pesta, dan busana gala.

Abstract

The geumaseh batik motif is a narrative batik that tells the story of Tjoet Nja’ Dhien’s struggle against the dutch during the Aceh war (1880-1908). In Acehnese geumaseh means an expression of love which in this case refers to Tjoet Nja’ Dhien’s love for Aceh exspressed throught her fight against the dutch. The purpose of this creation is to enrich batik motifs and ready-to-wear deluxe designs that can be used as a medium for historical education without neglecting the function of the garment itself. Ready-to-wear deluxe is chosen as a medium of expression because this type of clothing has an exclusive and luxurious character, making it appropriate to represent the greatness of Tjoet Nja' Dhien's love for Aceh. The Geumaseh motif is constructed using the hand-drawn batik technique to suit the character of ready-to-wear deluxe, taking inspiration from the 9 phases of Tjoet Nja' Dhien's struggle. The methods used in the creative process are exploration, design, and realization. The physical results of this creation are 9 (nine) ready-to-wear deluxe looks, which will be presented at the National Indonesia Fashion Week 2024 event.

Abstract

Kebaya labuh merupakan salah satu jenis baju kebaya yang banyak dipakai oleh masyarakat suku melayu seperti di Riau. Kebaya labuh cenderung tertutup dan sopan namun tetap terkesan elegan. Masyarakat Melayu mengutamakan syariat Islam dalam cara berpakaian dengan baju yang longgar pada lengan, badan, dan pinggul. Tema dalam penciptaan busana ini adalah feminine romantic style yang identik dengan pakaian berdetail manis sehingga menampilkan kesan elegan. Style ini sangat cocok dipadukan dengan kebaya labuh mengingat karakteristik perempuan Melayu yang lemah lembut, ramah dan penyabar. Metode penciptaan pada karya ini melalui tahapan eksplorasi, perancangan, dan perwujudan. Trend yang digunakan dalam penciptaan karya ini adalah Co-exist dengan sub- tema The soul searchers, memiliki bentuk busana yang loose, serba longgar dan nyaman, serta didominasi oleh warna natural dalam nuansa pastel. Hasil karya yang diciptakan yaitu tiga karya ready to wear, dua karya ready to wear deluxe dan satu karya houte couture. Busana dapat digunakan sebagai busana pesta dan semi formal.

Abstract

The creation of this work is based on two things. First, the author's desire to remind the importance of time for mankind. This is important because everything has its time, and most people do not succeed because they do not make the best use of their time. Secondly, there is no ready to wear deluxe (rtw-deluxe) that applies batik tulis motifs of the “Jangka Kala” (time) and makrame. Therefore, the purpose of this creation is to enrich the form of rtw-deluxe that can function as a media to remind the importance of time in human life. The form of the work refers to Resilent, namely Heritage with the sub-theme Reminiscene Rtw-deluxe was chosen because it has an exclusive, classy impression and is able to accommodate the creative ideas of the author. The method of creation used is exploration, design, and realization. The results of this creation are in the form of 4 batik jam motifs applied to ready to wear deluxe and presented in the form of a fashion show at the Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week entitled Nea Gennisi.

Abstract

The consumptive style of fast fashion products with a short lifespan has a negative impact on environmental pollution due to the large amount of fashion waste. The choice of fast fashion products is driven by consumers desire to appear stylish and constantly seek to stand out.This research is a creation of convertible clothes with alternative style, wich has the following objectives, 1) To describe the idea and concept of creating convertible ready to wear deluxe with the source of the idea traditional house of Osing Tribes, 2) To describe the process of creating fashion, 3) To discribe the final outcomes fashion, and 4) describing the presentation of the fashion. This research uses a project led research creation method through 4 stages among exploration or pre design, design of work, the realization of work, and the desimination of work. The results of this creation are convertible ready to wear deluxe with the source idea traditional house of Osing Tribe. The collection which were presented at two event, one at the grand jury and two at the 35th annual fashion show "JAGAD OSING" 2024 which is received the best of the best appreciation.

Abstract

This deluxe ready to wear is made to be a hope and prayer for the wearer, namely to be a light in the surrounding environment. Therefore, the author made the “Dipha Kirana” motif, which is a lamp motif inspired by the shape of a typical European chandelier as the main motif. The makrame technique is applied to this collection to enhance the appearance and create interesting accents that make this collection appear different and unique. The visual reference of this work is the fashion trend 2024/2025, namely Heritage sub-theme Reminiscence. The visuals represent traditional and modern forms constructed with traditional-modern techniques and materials, collaborating traditional icons, and designed for modern utility. To realize the work, the method of creation used is the method of exploration, design, and realization. The result of this work is 4 (four) ready to wear deluxe and 2 of them are displayed in the fashion show at Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) 2024
