Abstract

Introduction. The prevalence of depression cases in the world is around 17% of all mental disorders in society. This figure is the largest compared to other mental disorders. This condition will increase under certain conditions, for example in patients with certain medical conditions who experience chronic illnesses such as stroke, diabetes, cancer and chronic kidney failure. Patients with chronic kidney failure who are required to undergo hemodialysis will increase the risk of depression, this is caused by stressors that arise such as dependence on hemodialysis machines for life, changes in lifestyle patterns related to long periods of undergoing hemodialysis, restrictions on food and drink patterns and adaptation to disease condition. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between the length of time undergoing hemodialysis and the level of depression in chronic kidney failure patients in the SHBC hemodialysis room. Method. This research is a quantitative correlation research with a cross sectional approach or also called a point time approach . The sampling technique used in this research was Accidental Sampling of 92 respondents using the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) questionnaire. Result & Analysis. Based on the results of statistical tests, the p-value = 0.038 (p <0.05). Discussion. In this study, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between the length of time undergoing hemodialysis and the level of depression in chronic kidney failure patients in the SHBC hemodialysis room in 2022. Patients with chronic kidney failure have many stressors that arise while undergoing hemodialysis, for this reason families and nurses can provide motivation to patients with chronic kidney failure so that they can reduce the level of depression.

Abstract

Introduction. Respiratory disorders, which range from 1 to 100 μm, are a significant concern in the textile industry. Typical symptoms of cotton dust exposure include chronic cough with or without phlegm, painful breathing, wheezing, nasal congestion, and chest pain. While most research has focused on natural cotton fibers, there is a growing need to investigate the health risks associated with synthetic cotton dust, such as that derived from petroleum-based resources such as polyester. Method. This research employed a cross-sectional design, with 76 respondents. Result & Analysis. The results showed that 21.1% of the workers experienced respiratory symptoms, and 43.4% of the workers were exposed to high levels of synthetic cotton dust. Chi-square test analysis indicated a significant relationship between synthetic cotton dust exposure and respiratory symptoms (p < 0.001; OR 15.1 [3.17 – 73.21]). Discussion. Workers with high synthetic cotton dust exposure had a 15.1 times greater risk of experiencing respiratory symptoms than those with low synthetic cotton dust exposure.

Abstract

Introduction. Maternal and infant mortality in Indonesia is still quite persistent. Maternal knowledge of danger signs in pregnancy is one of the factors that can affect expectant mothers at high risk of pregnancy risk signs. Snowball is a multilevel discussion which eventually leads to consensus responses, while brainstorming begins with the group leader presenting a particular problem and then each participant responds with an opinion or feedback. The aim of this research is to find out the comparison of snowball and brainstorming methods on maternal knowledge about the danger signs of pregnant women. Method. This research uses a quasi-experimental design with a one-group design that is pre-tested and post-tested using the Snowball method and Brain Storming group. The population was 45 expectant mothers who made antenatal visits. The samples consisted of 26 expectant mothers who were selected by purposive sampling. Data was collected using a questionnaire and analyzed by Marginal Homogeneity test. Result & Analysis. Before the health promotion, most respondents in the brainstorming group had sufficient knowledge (61.5%) and those with insufficient knowledge amounted to 38.5%. After being trained with the brainstorming method, respondents' knowledge increased to 53.8% with good knowledge, 38.5% with fair knowledge, and 7.7% with insufficient knowledge (p value 0.008). Meanwhile, 92.3% of the respondents' knowledge was insufficient and 7.7% of the respondents' knowledge was adequate (p value 0.008). However, after the health promotion, the respondents' knowledge changed to 46.1% moderately knowledgeable, 38.5% less knowledgeable, and 15.4% well knowledgeable (p value 0.013). Discussion. There is a significant difference in the knowledge of pregnant women before and after being promoted with the brainstorming and snowball methods. It is expected that the brainstorming health promotion method can be applied as one of the methods in improving the knowledge of pregnant women.

Abstract

Introduction. Metanil yellow is a synthetic coloring material used for textile products, wood paint, painting paint, and fur. Despite its use having been banned in the Regulation of the Minister of Health of Indonesia No. 239/MENKES/PER/V/1985, metanil yellow is still commonly found in the local community. In Indonesia, this coloring material is often misused to color various types of food, including herbs, crackers, noodles, tofu, and yellow snacks. The purpose of this research is to validate the analytical method for determining metanil yellow levels in herbal medicine of jamu using the UV-Vis spectrophotometric method. Method. In this research, the determination of metanil yellow levels was carried out by instrument analysis using the UV-Vis Sectrophotometric method. Result & Analysis. In the linearity validation parameter, the regression equation y = 0.0548x-0.01398 is obtained with an r² value of 0.9999, the LOD parameter is 0.11686 ppm, LOQ is 0.5620 ppm, the precision parameter RSD value obtained is 0.87% which meets the requirements of ≤ 4%. Furthermore, the results on the determination of metanil yellow levels in each sample A obtained a percentage of 0.00006755% ± 3.9260; sample B obtained a percentage of 0.000110% ± 10.5309; and sample C obtained a percentage of 0.0001023% ± 9.2998. Discussion. Given the very low concentration, it is possible that the yellow color in the herbal medicine samples is not completely caused by metanil yellow, but it might also be influenced by other natural ingredients with yellow pigments.

Abstract

Introduction. Vaginal agenesis is the rudimentary or complete absence of vagina. The treatment of vaginal agenesis consists of various surgical and non-surgical techniques. This systematic review aims to describe the differences between surgical and non-surgical techniques of vaginal agenesis treatment in terms of vaginal length and sexual function. Method. Electronic databases such as PubMed, Science Direct, and SCOPUS were searched for articles published between 2018-2023. Literature restricted for women with vaginal agenesis who underwent surgical or non-surgical techniques was reviewed. Cross-sectional studies, observational studies, cohort studies, and retrospective studies were included in this study. Out of 190 articles, 8 articles were analyzed. All studies that reported total vaginal length and sexual function after treatment were conducted. Result & Analysis. The mean total vaginal length in the non-surgical technique was 7.23 cm and 8.88 cm in the surgical technique. Meanwhile, the level of sexual function, as measured using the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) score, showed a result of 24.40 in non- surgical techniques and 25.23 in surgical techniques. There is also one article with surgical techniques that assesses the level of sexual function objectively, resulting in sexual function within normal limits. Discussion. Total vaginal length in both techniques was normal but not on the FSFI scores. However, surgical techniques showed a slightly higher outcome Even so, non-surgical techniques are also a good treatment option considering the outcome are not much different compared to surgical techniques.
