Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of spacing on the growth of seaweed Halymenia sp with the off-bottom method, and determine the spacing that gave the best effect on the growth of seaweed Halymenia sp with the off-bottom method. This research was conducted in Kastela coastal waters, Ternate Island District, Ternate City. The initial weight of the Halymenia sp clump used refers to the initial weight of the K. alvarezii clump which is about 50 g/clump. The stretch rope used is a polyethylene (PE) rope with a diameter of 4 mm and a length of 15 m with a distance of 1 m between the stretch ropes. Maintenance is carried out by the off-base monoline method. Data analysis was used to determine the growth of cultivated Halymenia sp seaweed. The data analyzed were absolute weight growth data, which was obtained from the difference between the average weight at the end of rearing and the initial weight when stocked/planted and the relative growth rate. The results showed that the spacing of seaweed Halymenia sp had a very different effect on absolute weight growth and relative growth of seaweed Halymenia sp, where a 25 cm spacing gave the best results on absolute weight growth and relative growth of seaweed Halymenia sp.

Abstract

One type of organochlorine pesticide used by farmers is endosulfan. Excessive use of pesticides can cause environmental and water pollution and have an impact on the life of freshwater biota such as goldfish (Cyprinus carpio) Punten strain. The purpose of this study was to determine the value of LC50-168 hours of endosulfan insecticide on mortality of carp (Cyprinus carpio) eggs and to compare egg hatchability and survival of goldfish (Cyprinus carpio) larvae on exposure to endosulfan insecticides with different concentrations. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 1 control. Each treatment was repeated three times, namely P0 = 0 ppm (control), P1 (0.01 ppm), P2 (0.1 ppm), and P3 (1 ppm). Analysis of Variens (ANOVA) and DNMRT (Duncan New Multiple Range Test) were used to compare egg hatchability and larval survival at different concentrations of endosulfan insecticides. The results of the acute toxicity test (LC50-168 hours) of carp eggs were at a concentration of 0.6 ppm, there was a significant difference in hatchability of goldfish eggs (Cyprinus carpio) Punten strain exposed to endosulfan insecticide exposure with different concentration levels the higher the endosulfan concentration. used, the lower the hatchability of goldfish (Cyprinus carpio) eggs, and the survival rate of goldfish (Cyprinus carpio) larvae was different at various levels of endosulfan concentration. The higher the endosulfan concentration, the lower the survival rate of goldfish (Cyprinus carpio) larvae.

Abstract

The use of vegetable biopesticides in plantations has long been known, but its application in forestry plant nurseries is generally still not widely practiced by the community. One of the environmental problems has become a global issue, namely the excessive use of pesticides and fertilizers. The use of pesticides that are not in the right dose, inappropriate use, inappropriate benefits and not according to the rules of use can be a source of compounds and pollution containing heavy metals which are very difficult to degrade. Cinnamon biopesticide research was carried out in several locations based on research activities. The collection of cinnamon samples was carried out in the Research Field of the Faculty of Agriculture and the manufacture of biopesticide solutions was carried out at the Forestry Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Khairun University. To test the effectiveness of the biopesticide solution, it was carried out in the Ake Malamo Watershed Management Center and Protected Forest on mangrove/mangrove seedlings. The application of biopesticides is carried out by spraying all parts of the seeds with the appropriate concentration of treatment. Applications were carried out five times with an interval of once every 1 week. Observations were made every week, one day after the application of spraying. The use of fragrant cinnamon biopesticide which was sprayed on mangrove seedlings 5 times 7 days after planting with a concentration of 75% each time was proven to suppress pest attacks so as to increase their growth. This result is better than the control/other treatments.

Abstract

Our research aims to determine the shift in the catch of beach seine according to the perception of fishermen, to determine the catch of beach seine from September to October 2021, and to compare the catch in the same month with different years. The method of collecting data is through interviews, observations, and literature studies, then the results are analyzed descriptively and presented in the form of tables and figures. The results of the interview show that the number of beach seine and their catches in TAD is decreasing (number and types of fish). The results of two months of observation in 2021 for 31 trips, found only 15 species of fish with a total of 7257 individuals, and dominated by Stolephorus indicus 59.3%, Encrasicholina heteroloba 16.6% and Sardinella fimbriata 10.9%. The average length of S. indicus is 3.9 cm in the range of 2.1-6.7 cm and weighs 1.2 g (0.1-1.4 g). The results of beach seine monitoring in TAD showed a decrease in fish species by 29.41%, which is now dominated by S. indicus but with smaller body sizes, so it is necessary to conduct continuous research related to the ecobiology of the three types of fish that dominate the catch of the beach seine, as efforts to evaluate and monitor the use of fish resources in TAD sustainably and responsibly.

Abstract

Mangroves is one of the producers of nutrients, one of which is nitrate in estuary waters. Nitrate content in waters naturally comes from weathering or decomposition of plants and the remains of dead organisms. This study aims to analyze the relationship between mangrove density and nitrate in the mangrove ecosystem on Manomadehe Island, South Jailolo, West Halmahera. Data collection was carried out from April to May 2022. Analysis of sediment samples was carried out at the LPPM Basic Laboratory, Khairun University. The data analysis method used is simple linear regression. The results of the analysis of the highest species density at ST3 were 4100 trees/ha-1 and the lowest was ST1 at 1900 trees/ha-1. The highest nitrate concentration was found at ST3 at 3.58 mg/kg and the lowest at ST1 at 0.83 mg/kg. The strong ridge pattern (r) between the variable density and the nitrate concentration was 88.90%. The regression coefficient of 1.8998 indicates that the density of species has a positive relationship with the average concentration of nitrate in the sediment, where every 1 unit decreases in the value of mangrove species density will affect the decrease in the average nitrate of -1.33812 units.
