Abstract

This study aims to compare the biodiversity of ichthyofauna in seagrass meadows between the day and night periods. The study was conducted in July 2019 on seagrass habitats in the coastal waters of Wamsisi village, Buru Island, Maluku. Fish samples were collected using battom gill nets placed on seagrass meadows during the day and night periods. Data analysis includes species composition, community structure (dominance index, diversity, and uniformity), frequency of presence, and grouping similarity of fish species using the Bray-Curtis Index, which is displayed in the form of tables and dendrograms. The results obtained as many as 72 individuals, 34 species from 14 families, and 4 orders. The species composition and the highest frequency of presence were Naso hexacanthus (Acanthuridae) during the day, Caesio caerulaurea (Caesionidae), and Lutjanus gibbus (Lutjanidae) at night, diversity and equitability indexes were in the high category, whereas the dominance index was in a low category. Based on the life phase, the ichthyofauna was dominated by the pre-adult of 17 species (50,0%), adult of 12 species (35,3%), and yuwana phase of 5 species (14.7%). The similarity of species between the day and night periods is categorized as low in value, which means the presence of fish species is different between the day and night periods.

Abstract

HABs is a term that describes the species of harmful phytoplankton found in the waters. One of the factors triggering its development is the increase in the concentration of nutrient types nitrogen (N) and Posfor (P) is very high. To that end, a study aimed at detecting potentially dangerous types of phytoplankton (HABs) in a water has been conducted in May-July 2021. The waters in question are the coastal waters of the southern part of Makassar (JB) and the coastal waters of Takalar (coastal waters beba = BB, Boddia = BG, and Sanrobone = SB). The waters are waters located on the western coast of the southern part of South Sulawesi. Enumeration of HABs is performed on samples of water that has been filtered using net plankton. The results showed that as many as 10 potential genera of HABs have been found. The genera in question are Bacteriastrum, Chaetoceros, Nitzschia, and Pseudo-nitzchia of the Bacillariophyceae group, and Ceratium, Dinophysis, Gymnodinium, Peridinium, Prorocentrum, and Protoperidinium of the Dynophycea group. From the results of the proportion test, potentially HABs were found to be lower at about 30.13% when compared to the non-HABs phytoplankton group of about 69.87% based on spatial, and 30.57% versus 69.43% based on temporal.

Abstract

Marine and fishery development is closely related to coastal development since the majority of the development actors in the fishery and marine sectors are coastal communities. Economic capacity development of an area is an attempt to realize sustainable coastal development. This study aims to elaborate to what extend the community economic capacity development and how the development policies of the government are in supporting the community economic capacity development. The study uses qualitative and quantitative methods (a mixed method). The qualitative method employs data collection techniques in the form of observations, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussion (FGD). The quantitative method applies data collection techniques of structured interviews and a survey technique. Supported by local development policies that have been formulated in the mid-term and long-term development plans, the community-based economic capacity development in the coastal areas of Serang City aims at improving the economic prosperity of the coastal community as well as improving coastal area management. At large, the economic capacity development consists of (1) improvement of human resource capacity, (2) enhancement of economic competitiveness and (3) improvement of economic facilities/infrastructures as the support. The conomic capacity improvement involves full participation of communities and stakeholders who mutually interact, collaborate, and cooperate to enhance each capacity and together they encourage coastal economic improvement.

Abstract

Marine pollution is a major threat that can harm human social, economic, and cultural activities. Marine pollution is caused by human activities that do not pay attention to the health of the environment. Marine pollution can be prevented and minimized by employing conservation. The formation of conservation-based children's character is very influential on the sustainability of conservation. Children's character can be formed through education in the family, home, and community environment. The first and foremost environment in forming the foundation of a child's character is the family. Families make a very big contribution to the strength of the foundation of the character of child conservation. Thus, it is necessary to study the management of children's character education in coastal communities that are also direct beneficiaries of marine resources. The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of conservation-based children's character education management in coastal communities and to find out the effectiveness of conservation-based children's character education in coastal communities. Knowing the management and effectiveness of the management of children's character education in the family environment. This research method uses a quantitative approach with SPSS 25 data analysis. The results obtained from this study are that the character education of children greatly influences the attitude of conservation of children on Barrang Lompo Island. The better the conservation character education management carried out by the family, the stronger the child's conservation attitude will be.

Abstract

One of the model fish used in climate change research is clown fish (A. ocellaris). The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of temperature increases on the growth and survival of clown fish. The experiment was carried out in a laboratory with a completely randomized design. The treatments were 28°C, 29°C, 30°C, and 31°C to observe clown fish growth in length and weight, relative growth rate, increased life, and color change over an 8-week period. The treatment temperature resulted in the best growth in length, weight, specific growth rate, and survival. The treatment temperature of 29OC (P0.05) resulted in the best growth in length, weight, specific growth rate, and survival, with values of 1.81 0.09 cm, 1.06 0.15g, 0.78 0. 09%, and 100%, respectively. At 31°C, growth and life were 1.02 0.04cm, 0.18 0.16 g, 0.30 0.04%, and 66.67 5.44%, respectively. At 31 degrees Celsius, the color of Badut fish changed from red to green to blue (P, 0.05). Temperature can cause badut fish mortality and adversely affect their growth.
