Abstract

The urgency to develop culturally and contextually responsive pedagogies in science education has become increasingly evident in recent times. In response, various teaching methods have been explored, showing successes in acquiring scientific knowledge. However, a more transformative approach is needed to fulfil the vision of the "Africa we want" as outlined in the African Union Commission's agenda 2063. This advocacy has led to the development of the Culturo-Techno-Contextual CTCA). The study aimed to conduct a documental analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of the CTCA in improving students' achievement in STEM subjects and explore teachers' perspectives on the efficacy of CTCA in science education. Qualitative approach, incorporating documentary analysis and interviews was employed. For the documentary analysis, a comprehensive search was conducted in electronic research databases from 2019 to 2023, using specific search terms related to CTCA and study design. The interview schedule involved a face-to-face interview with 8 teachers who had used CTCA to teach various STEM concepts. It was revealed that the CTCA possesses remarkable efficacy in enhancing students' academic achievement in STEM concepts. Also, the teachers showed positive perception towards CTCA. It was concluded that CTCA is a potent approach in improving students’ achievement in STEM subjects.

Abstract

The campus today is littered with varieties of waste materials, which were generated from students' activities. The bulk of these wastes were solid wastes, and it is obvious that papers form a larger percentage of the waste on our campuses. These papers could include leftovers from students marked test scripts, detached textbook materials, personal notebooks, and jotters. Environmentalists have listed improper dumping of refuse and sewage disposal contamination as one of the major factors that hinder an eco-friendly society, most importantly in schools. One of the greatest problems confronting the education sector today is the lack of adequate instructional materials to teach the students. The cost of purchasing foreign-made instructional materials is on the high side. Hence, there has been serious agitation by educational technologists to venture into improvisation as alternatives to real objects. Using campus waste paper to mould improvised teaching aids for the teaching and learning of basic biological concepts will not only be of benefit to educators but also to environmentalists who are concerned about proper waste management. Up-cycling methodology was adopted for this study, which is the process of reusing waste materials without breaking them down into their base state to create another product.

Abstract

In academics, writing is a challenging skill but it is also very important to master. Based on the results of the observation at SMAN 1 Bangkinang, the writer found that students often find it difficult to write English. So this resulted in most students not being able to achieve the minimum standard of KKM in English lessons. Therefore, the use of video in flipped classroom type can be a strategy to overcome this problem. The primary aim of this pre-experimental study was to find out if there was any significant effect of using video in flipped classroom type on the ability of SMAN 1 Bangkinang students in writing recount texts. Applying a writing test consisting of pre-test and post-test in one group was used for this study. According to the findings of this study, shows that the t-test score was 6.656 while the t-table score in significance level 5% df= 23 was 2.069. Since the t-test was higher than the t-table, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of using video in flipped classroom type on the ability of SMAN 1 Bangkinang students in writing recount texts.

Abstract

This research is research into the development of learning media products using the Canva application for economics subjects for class X students at SMAN 3 Bangkalan. This research aims to develop interactive learning media in economics subjects and its application in order to improve the learning outcomes of class X students at SMAN 3 Bangkalan. This development research is carried out using R&D (research and development) which consists of potential and problems, information gathering, product design, design validation, design improvement, product testing, product revision, use testing, product revision, and product manufacturing. Based on this research, for the assessment, material experts obtained a percentage score of 78% in the (worthy) category, media experts obtained a percentage of 83.3% in the (very worthy) category, field practitioners obtained a percentage of 98% in the (very worthy) category. category (very worthy). category (very worthy), and improve learning outcomes with a score of 0.82 or 82% in the category (high). Based on the pretest and posttest student learning outcomes were initially 60-70, after using learning media using the Canva application it became 90-95, increasing from 15-30. It can be concluded that the media can increase the learning outcome of the students.

Abstract

Education is a means or bridge for humans to be able to develop their potential through the learning process they have obtained. The implementation of physical education learning will be ineffective, because the learning model chosen by the teacher is inaccurate, because the learning model will influence student learning outcomes, so it is necessary to use a learning model that can be applied and adjusted based on the characteristics of the learning material. The aim of this research is to find out about the effectiveness of the direct instruction learning model on the basic pencak silat technical abilities of grade 7 students at SMPN 1 Majalaya. The method used in this writing is an experiment with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest design. Based on the results of the Wilcoxon test table, the Sig value is known. (two tilled) of 0.000 < 0.05, then the hypothesis is accepted. So it can be concluded that there is a difference between the pretest and posttest which means that the use of the direct instruction model is effective in basic techniques in learning pencak silat at SMPN 1 Majalaya. This is also supported by the average N-gain percent value of 60% which is in the table. The criteria indicate a fairly effective level.

Abstract

The experimental device of sound wave in high school rarely available. This study conducted to develop a android-assisted sound wave experiment device. The experiment consist of four type of activities such as linear and circular motion effect dopler, interference and resonance. The study utilized the developmental research design by applying the ADDIE Model. The developed experiment device validity obtained from the expert while its practicality conducted by students and physics teacher consist of 10 students and 2 physics teacher. Based on the results of the effectiveness test on students stated that the android-assisted sound wave experimental device was declared effective in increasing motivation and learning outcomes. With an average evaluation of the motivation of the experimental class 85.56 higher than the control class with an average of 76. The average evaluation of the learning outcomes of the experimental class is 85.07 higher than the control class with a value of 75.22. Thus the developed android-assisted sound wave experimental device has been declared valid, practical and effective for use as a learning medium in teaching and learning activities in the classroom to increase learning motivation and student learning outcomes.

Abstract

The challenge of using rapid technology occurs in alpha generation learning activities, giving rise to differentiated learning. The variety of student learning styles is one of the benchmarks in differentiated learning so that supporting learning media in the form of electronic-games is needed. This study aims to describe the potential of electronic-games in harmonizing differentiated learning for generation alpha. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques using questionnaires. The questionnaire was distributed online to respondents who were students of SMP Subulussalam Kota Padang Pariaman. The use of electronic-games in learning activities is one manifestation of differentiated learning. Differentiated learning views students differently and dynamically, where teachers see learning with various points of view. Novelty: Important contributions from the results of this research claim that the use of electronic games can support differentiated learning for the alpha generation.
