Abstract

Pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) is the essential need of teaching and every teacher had to prioritized it for their teaching preparation. For early childhood education teacher, it is not only about knowledge of curriculum, instructional strategies and content, but also knowledge of students understanding. Teachers need to pay attention for all aspect in learning activities. With the awareness of PCK, teacher will have good performance while teaching and it will affect children understanding towards the subject. This research use descriptive quantitative methode to describe pedagogical content knowledge of 135 early childhood education teacher’s in Pekanbaru City that has been chosen by purposive sampling technique. Data collection and processing using google form. From four indicators of PCK, knowledge of student understanding score is the highest at 3,25,  knowledge of instructional strategies score is 3,15, content knowledge score is 3.07 and knowledge of curriculum is the lowest with score 2,89. Emphaty and the ability to understand children comprehension in learning is pivotal for early childhood teacher. Young children don’t always express thought and emotion verbally, so teacher should also observed non verbal language and be thoughtful in order to help them understanding the subject. Early childhood teacher should gain more practiced and learn to enhance their knowledge of curriculum.

Abstract

The problem that is often found in the field is that poorly trained students thinking critically because learning is still teacher-centered. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using inquiry-based handouts on students critical thinking abilities. The design of this study was experimental design with pretest and posttest group control design methods. It was by looking at the students ability to answer the pretest and posttest question sheets that contain critical thinking indicators such as analyzing, synthesizing, connecting, concluding, evaluating, and creating. The results of this study show that the students critical thinking skills for the group given the handout showed that they met good criteria, that is the average score above 75. Meanwhile, students critical thinking skills in the class or group of students who were not given handouts were still not more than 50. Abstract

This research was motivated by the learning outcomes of SMAN 5 Tapung students who were under the target (KKM). This research was to intend providing the solutions by applying Bandicam videos in the learning. The purpose of this study was to improve student learning outcomes on trigonometric comparison material in right triangles using Bandicam video media in class X Mia SMAN 5 Tapung. This study used a quantitative approach with interview observation steps, survey methods and blended learning methods. The research subjects were students of class X MIA SMAN 5 Tapung and the object of this study was the use of videos recorded with the Bandicam application to improve cognitive mathematics learning outcomes. Data collection techniques used tests, observations, and documentation, while data analysis techniques used qualitative descriptive data analysis methods. The average score obtained by students at the end of the first cycle was 67.6 with the number of students who reached the KKM as many as 32 students (43.7%), then at the end of the second cycle the average value of students increased to 77.4 and as many as 32 students scored reaching the KKM (87.5%). By increasing the KKM results obtained after learning using Bandicam video media, the cognitive learning outcomes of students are increased.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the feasibility of a RADEC model of colloidal learning design using the STEM approach based on Google classroom to increase student creativity. The method used was descriptive research. This study involved two experts, one teacher, and three high school students in Class XI.  Data was collected through an internal feasibility test, the suitability of the creativity sub-indicator with learning activities, and an external feasibility test carried out with a limited test to 3 high school students. The results showed that the learning design uses the RADEC model with a STEM approach based on Google Classroom that deserved to be used to increase student creativity. From this research it is concluded that this learning design can be used to increase student creativity.

Abstract

This study aims to develop teaching materials of economic learning assessment through scientific approach. The research used Research and Development (R&D) method that developed by Thiagarajan, Semmel, and Semmel that includes defining phase, design stage, and development stage. Data were collected from the assessment of three experts through an expert validation sheet and responses from 40 students through student response questionnaire. Data analysis using quantitative descriptive technique. The result of the research showed that the teaching materials are suitable for learning through the scientific approach on the course of the Economic Learning Assessment. of material experts with an average score of 89.47% (very good) and student response results with an average score of 86.45% (very good). Some suggestions from the experts include in the teaching material description section added with illustrations in the form of drawings or schemes; and equipped with concrete examples in accordance with the contextual situation. While the suggestions from the students are also in line with the advice of the expert team that is also equipped with concrete examples to be more reproduced.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between school organisational silence and teachers’ job commitment and productivity. Two hypotheses (tested at 0.05 level of significance) were formulated to guide the study. With the study’s foundation anchored on correlational and descriptive research designs, its population comprised all teachers. The sample size was 300 teachers. Analysis was carried out using inferential statistics. The data of the study were obtained by questionnaire. Pearsons Product Moment Correlation Analysis was used to test the two hypotheses. Findings indicate that a positive and non-significant relationship existed between school organisational silence and teachers’ job commitment in Lagos State Education District I (r = -0.035, ρ>0.05) and the study also found that there was a negative and non-significant relationship between school organisational silence and teachers’ productivity in Lagos State Education District I (r = 0.770, ρ>0.05). It is concluded that organisational silence is present in Lagos State Education District I senior secondary schools, as evidenced in the study. The study therefore recommended that school leaders/managers should always engaging school teachers in communication and entering them into discussions and decisions in order to reduce silence in the organisation of the school, so as to enhance teachers’ job commitment. School as organisation should pay attention to not only the professional knowledge of the applicants but also to their personal characteristics, hence this can boost the teachers’ productivity.

Abstract

This research aims to develop learning mathematics media using proven validity-PMR approach, practicality and effectiveness in improving HOTS of Junior High School students class VIII. This type of research was the development of ADDIE model consisting of analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. The tests were carried out in four phases, expert test, limited test, field test, and effectiveness test. The subjects in this study were teachers and students. The instruments used were validation sheet, student’s questionnarie, observation sheet and instrument test. The results show the learning media developed has fulfilled validity, practicality and effectiveness aspect. (1) The validity result shows the developed learning media in the category very valid with the average value on syllabus 3.81. While the learning plane (RPP) is 3.62, and student worksheet (LKPD) is 3.51, and test instrument is 3.45. (2) Limited test results shows the developed mathematical learning media in very practical category with score of 3.41. (3) Field test result shows the learning media developed is very practical, on teacher learning implementation observation sheet 3.62, on the student’s questionnaire 3.44. Finally, the developed learning media can be ready to use in the school.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of guided inquiry models and modified free inquiry on critical thinking in the classification of living things. This research was conducted at SMPN 25 Pekanbaru. The research was carried out in the form of an experiment. The study population was class VII. The sample was taken using simple random sampling technique, which consisted of 3 classes, namely the experimental class 1 using the guided inquiry model, the experimental class 2 using the modified free inquiry model and the control class using the conventional method. The research design used a pretest and posttest control group design. Data were analyzed by using ANOVA test (one way ANOVA). Based on the result data, the average critical thinking result of the classification of living things with an average value of the experimental class 1 is 77.84 (good), the experimental class 2 is 70.93 (good) and the control class is 43.29 (poor). In the experimental class class 1, the critical thinking average is higher than the experimental class 2 and the control class. Based on the results of the ANOVA test, it was stated that the use of guided inquiry models and modified free inquiry had a significant effect on students' critical thinking in the experimental class 1, the experimental class 2 and the control class with a significant value (0.000) <alpha (0.05).

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of motivation to learn science in terms of the use of platforms in online learning. The research was carried out at Junior Hight School (SMP) Negeri Singingi, Kuansing Regency, Indonesia for the 2021-2022 Academic Year. This research is quantitative descriptive. The type of data obtained consists of primary data and secondary data. The instrument used to measure the level of student learning motivation is using a questionnaire. This learning motivation questionnaire was prepared with reference to the aspect of learning motivation which consists of 8 aspects. The results of learning motivation on the concentration indicator get an average of 64.56% in the medium category, the curiosity indicator on average 64.83% in the medium category, the average spirit indicator 62.14% in the medium category, the average independence indicator at 70.25% in the high category, the average readiness indicator is 77.50% in the high category, the average enthusiasm and encouragement indicator is 64.68% in the medium category, the indicator of never giving up is on average 66.67% in the medium category, and the average confidence indicator is 79.18% in the high category. The results of the study concluded that the overall student learning motivation was categorized as good.

Abstract

This study investigated senior secondary school students’ motivation to learning mathematics and gender as correlates of performance in mathematics. The sample consisted of 315 students from two government senior secondary schools in Lagos State, Nigeria using the quantitative research method within the blueprint of the descriptive survey research design. Data collected were analysed using percentages, means, standard deviation, independent samples t-test, Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (PPMCC) and standard and stepwise multiple linear regression analysis. Findings from the study revealed that there was a very high level of motivation to learn mathematics among senior secondary schools’ students in Nigeria. There was a significant influence of gender on students’ performance in mathematics but not on motivation to learn mathematics. It was also revealed that self-efficacy, gender and intrinsic motivation were the major significant predictors of performance in mathematics among the sample studied. Based on these findings, future studies in Nigeria should attempt to investigate the psychometric properties of the motivation to learn mathematics scale.
