Abstract

Numerical ability is an important ability for students to have. This study aims to analyze students’ numeracy abilities in the matter of a two-variable linear education system (SPLDV) in terms of reflective and impulsive cognitive styles, so that the research approach used is qualitative with a descriptive type of research. This study's subjects were four students divided into two reflective students and two impulsive students. The data collection technique used is the Matching Familiar Figure Test (MFFT), a numeracy skills test, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that subjects with a reflective cognitive style were able to fulfill 4 numeric indicators (understanding problems, designing problem solutions, implementing strategies, and re-examining). given has a relatively small tendency to be wrong. Whereas subjects with an impulsive cognitive style can answer all questions but only fulfill 2 numeration indicators (understanding problems and designing problem solutions), and require a fast time to solve questions, so the answers given have a relatively large tendency to be wrong.

Abstract

The importance of students' mastery of statistics is supported by the inclusion of this material in the mathematics curriculum since primary and secondary education. The role of statistics itself has penetrated into various professions and fields of science. Regarding statistical mastery students need to have statistical literacy skills in the form of basic skills in reading graphs, graph titles or themes, giving meaning to units of graphs, finding certain values or units, determining maximum and minimum values or the difference between the two. This study aims to describe students' errors in solving statistical literacy test similar to minimum competency assessment or asesmen kompetensi minimum (in Indonesian) based on the Kastolan stages. The type of this study is qualitative research with a case study design. The subjects of this research were 5 students of grade 11, a senior high school in Banjarbaru, South Borneo, selected using purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using tests and interviews. During the study, it was found that errors made by students include conceptual errors, procedural errors, and technical errors. Students' errors in solving statistical literacy test can have an impact on their daily life when they are dealing with data. Moreover, errors made by students when solving problems can be an early sign that there are learning obstacles experienced by students.

Abstract

The government's new policy of changing the National Examination (UN) to the National Assessment (AN), requires all students in Indonesia to have competence, one of which is numeracy literacy. In describing this numeracy literacy ability, it can be viewed from all aspects, one of which is: Adversity Quotient (AQ). This study aims to describe the differences in the numeracy abilities of junior high school students in terms of the Adversity Quotient between male and female students. This research is a descriptive qualitative research, with a research subject of 6 eighth-grade students of one of the State Junior High Schools in Depok. The instruments used were test and non-test instruments, namely written tests, questionnaires, and interviews. This study uses data analysis techniques, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The research findings indicate that both male and female climber students demonstrate high numeracy literacy skills by fulfilling all the indicators. Camper students, show moderate numeracy literacy skills, with males fulfilling two indicators and females fulfilling one indicator. As for quitter students, they exhibit low numeracy literacy skills as they do not fulfill any of the indicators. The difference between men and women of each type is only in the completion steps and explaining the reasons for each answer they choose.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out the difference between class VIII students of SMP Negeri 2 Bintan who used the Flipped Classroom learning model and conventional learning. This quantitative study uses a Quasy Experiment research type with a non-equivalent control group design. The sampling technique uses cluster sampling. The research instruments included interview sheets, observation sheets, and a description of 5 questions. The questions were then tested for validity, reliability test, difficulty level test, and discrimination test. The prerequisite tests carried out were the normality and homogeneity tests, and then the data results were normally distributed, and the two groups were homogeneous. The results showed that students in the experimental class obtained an average increase in their understanding of mathematical concepts by 0.35, while students in the control class obtained an increase of 0.21. Test the hypothesis using an independent t-test with a sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000. Because this test is a right-hand side test, the p-value = × 0.000 = 0, and it is known that 0 ≤ 0.05, so  is accepted. It can be concluded from this study that the increased understanding of mathematical concepts of students who learn with the Flipped Classroom model is higher than students who learn with conventional learning. It can be concluded from this study that the increased understanding of mathematical concepts of students who learn with the Flipped Classroom model is higher than students who learn with conventional learning.

Abstract

One of the subjects that can measure students' problem solving abilities is geometry because geometry discusses objects, definitions, symbols and images that can be used as ideas or ideas by students. This research is a descriptive qualitative study which aims to describe and analyze students' ability to solve problems based on Polya's steps in terms of self-regulated learning (SRL). The subject of this research is one student in each SRL (high, medium, low). Data collection methods are questionnaires, tests and interviews. The results showed that 12.5% of students had high SRL levels, 70.83% had medium SRL level students and 16.67% had low SRL level students. Students with high SRL can complete problem solving according to Polya's steps. Students with moderate SRL can apply the steps of understanding the problem (writing the information available and what is being asked) and the planning steps. Meanwhile, students with low SRL can understand the problems in the questions. Based on interviews students can only provide information from what is contained in the questions but do not have ideas to solve them. Students with low SRL are only able to do the first of the four stages of problem solving. So, it can be concluded that the higher the SRL or the level of one's learning independence, the higher the ability to solve problems.
