Abstract

Introduction: Informal industries in Indonesia still use the labor of workers rather than existing technology. One of the informal industries in Indonesia is the chip industry. Workers in the informal tempe chips industry in the production process have different work activities and work duration. The purpose of this study was to analyze risk factors with Musculoskeletal Disorders. Methods: This research method is quantitative with purposive sampling technique on 33 workers using Fisher's Exact Test analysis with SPSS 26. The research instruments are Nordic Body Map (NBM), stopwatch, and Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA). Results: Based on the results of the analysis, the significance value of work posture with Musculoskeletal Disorders is 0,021 < 0,05 and work duration with Musculoskeletal Disorders is 0,021 < 0,05. Work posture factors and work duration have a significant relationship with Musculoskeletal Disorders. Conclusion: If workers work in an unergonomic posture, it can cause MSDs. Likewise, if workers work in static conditions, such as standing when frying, and sitting when cutting tempeh or packing chips for a long time, this can trigger pain in several parts of the body or symptoms of MSDs.

Abstract

Background: The World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates that the number of people living with HIV will reach 39.9 million by 2023. Although antiretroviral therapy (ART) has increased the life expectancy of people living with HIV (PLHIV), the incidence of cancer has also increased. Objective: This study aims to assess the link between HIV and the risk of oropharyngeal cancer in PLHIV. Methods: The review articles were searched using the keywords ‘oropharyngeal cancer’, ‘people living with HIV’, and ‘PLWHA’ with the combination of ‘OR’ and ‘AND’ using the Scopus database. Results: According to the nineteen articles found in the initial search, only five articles with populations in the United States, Spain, Korea, and France met the inclusion criteria. This study found that HIV increases the risk of oropharyngeal cancer. In addition, exposure to ART showed protection against oral human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, which may reduce the risk of cancer. Conclusions: HIV increases the risk of oropharyngeal cancer. Thus, ensuring adherence to ART might serve as a protective agent against HPV and reduce the risk of cancer progression in PLHIV.

Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension is one of the major risk factors for cardiovascular disease that causes high morbidity and mortality globally. The prevalence of hypertension continues to increase, including in Indonesia, including Barru Regency with a high incidence rate. One factor that is thought to play a role is high uric acid levels or hyperuricemia. Hyperuricemia can trigger activation of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and oxidative stress, which contribute to increased blood pressure. Several studies have shown a close relationship between uric acid levels and the incidence of hypertension. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the relationship between uric acid levels and the incidence of hypertension in Takkalasi Village, Barru Regency. Methods: This type of research is a cross sectional study approach with a sampling technique, namely purposive sampling with a total of 23 samples each in the hyperuricemia group and non-hyperuricemia group so that the total sample is 46 samples. The research data is primary data taken directly in August - September 2024 in Takkalasi Village, Barru Regency which was then analyzed using the chi square test. Research Results: It was found that non-hyperuricemia respondents who suffered from hypertension were 21.7% and hyperuricemia sufferers who experienced hypertension were 32.6%. The chi square test that has been carried out shows a value of p=0.0139 (p>0.005). Conclusion: Uric acid levels are not significantly associated with hypertension. Even so, people are still asked to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Abstract

Pterygium prevalence varies globally, with Indonesia demonstrating a high incidence, affecting a notable proportion of individuals bilaterally and unilaterally. Outdoor occupation is a recognized etiological factor, significantly associated with pterygium in Sulawesi, Indonesia, accounting for a large percentage of cases. This study investigated the influence of job-related risk factors on pterygium development in Malang City. Seventy-six participants completed questionnaires, and data were analyzed using appropriate statistical methods. Significant associations were found between several occupational aspects and pterygium presence, including working outdoors, duration of sun exposure, length of employment, and use of protective eyewear. Further analysis revealed that these occupational risk factors substantially impact the likelihood of developing pterygium, increasing the odds by a certain degree. Specifically, prolonged sun exposure, extended work periods, and the absence of UV protection during work were associated with a considerably higher risk. Interestingly, while outdoor work is a risk factor, its impact on the odds of developing the condition appears comparatively smaller than these other factors. In conclusion, job-related risk factors play a significant role in pterygium development in Malang City, with extended sun exposure, long working durations, and the lack of UV protection being the most influential elements, while outdoor work itself presents a less pronounced increase in risk.

Abstract

Background : Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) is a common condition affecting women of reproductive age, marked by a variety of physical, emotional, and behavioral symptoms that typically arise a few days before menstruation and diminish afterward. While the exact cause remains uncertain, hormonal fluctuations throughout the menstrual cycle are believed to be a key factor. Management strategies for PMS include both pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches, one of which is soy milk consumption. Soy milk contains isoflavones, naturally occurring plant compounds that mimic estrogen activity and may help ease PMS symptoms. This study seeks to examine the impact of soy milk consumption on alleviating PMS symptoms in adolescent girls.. Methods : The research employed a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design, conducted from March 3 to 17, 2025. A total of 18 participants were selected using purposive sampling, and the sample size was determined using the Federer formula. Data were analyzed using a paired t-test with SPSS version 16.0. Results of the Paired T-test showed that the p-value ≤ α (0.05), namely 0.001 < 0.05, indicating that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. Conclusion : The data indicates that the administration of soy milk has an effect in reducing premenstrual syndrome symptoms in adolescent girls.

Abstract

Background : Cognitive abilities represent a fundamental component of mental functions, encompassing processes such as perception, thinking, memory, and information processing. These cognitive functions are essential in facilitating individuals to acquire knowledge, address challenges, and formulate future plans. Data from UNICEF (2022) reveals that children aged 36–59 months across the globe continue to face challenges in their cognitive development. In Indonesia, about 7.51% of children under the age of five exhibit signs of developmental delays. Additionally, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported in 2020 that approximately 60% of preschool-aged children in the country experience issues related to cognitive development. One effective and enjoyable approach to stimulate cognitive growth in early childhood is through the use of educational games. Among these, the giant snakes and ladders game has been recognized for its potential to enhance cognitive functioning in young children. Research Methods : This research utilized a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. Participants were selected through purposive sampling based on predetermined criteria. Data collection was carried out using structured observation sheets, and the results were analyzed through a paired sample t-test. The findings revealed a 2-tailed significance value of 0.000, which is below the threshold of 0.05. This indicates a statistically significant impact of the giant snakes and ladders game on the cognitive development of children aged 5 to 6 years at Cut Nyak Dhien Kindergarten in Malang City. Conclusion : Hence, the giant snakes and ladders educational game has been shown to be an effective pedagogical medium for promoting and enhancing cognitive development among early childhood learners.
