Abstract

The development of the automotive industry has increased the demand for materials with lightweight characteristics, good mechanical properties, and environmentally friendly features. Natural fiber-based composite materials have become one of the potential alternatives to replace synthetic materials due to their lightweight, sustainable, and biodegradable characteristics for vehicle interior components, including car dashboards. This study aims to analyze the mechanical characteristics of hybrid composite materials reinforced with water hyacinth fiber and bamboo fiber using an epoxy matrix through bending, tensile, and fractographic analysis to evaluate their potential application as an alternative dashboard material. The research was conducted using an experimental method by fabricating composite specimens with a composition of 15% water hyacinth fiber, 15% bamboo fiber, and 70% epoxy resin. The fibers were subjected to alkali treatment using NaOH solution before the molding process. Mechanical testing was performed based on ASTM D790 for bending tests and ASTM D638 for tensile tests, while fractographic analysis was conducted on the fracture surfaces after mechanical testing. The results showed that the highest bending strength was obtained at 4.18 kg/mm² from a specimen with a thickness of 5.42 mm, while the highest tensile strength reached 1.79 kg/mm² from a specimen with a thickness of 6.24 mm. Fractographic observations revealed several failure mechanisms, including fiber pull-out, matrix cracking, void formation, delamination, and fiber fracture, which were influenced by the quality of the fiber–matrix bonding and the composite fabrication process. Based on the results, the hybrid composite of water hyacinth fiber and bamboo fiber reinforced with epoxy matrix has potential for development as an alternative material for car dashboard components; however, further optimization of fiber composition and manufacturing processes is required to improve its mechanical performance.

Abstract

Problem-solving ability is one of the essential skills in physics learning; however, students still experience difficulties in understanding concepts and applying physics principles to solve contextual problems, particularly in the topic of temperature and heat. This study aims to develop a Google Sites-based learning media integrated with Guided Inquiry and to determine its feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness in improving students’ problem-solving abilities. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method to develop the learning media. The research subjects were students of class XI at SMA Negeri 2 Slawi. Data were collected through expert validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and problem-solving ability tests administered through pretest and posttest. The data were analyzed based on validity, practicality, and effectiveness criteria using the N-Gain analysis to determine the improvement of students’ problem-solving abilities. The results showed that the developed Google Sites-based Guided Inquiry learning media was feasible for use, with validation scores of 3.75 from media experts and 3.821 from material experts, both categorized as very good. The practicality assessment obtained an average score of 4.31, indicating that the media was highly practical based on students’ responses. Furthermore, the effectiveness analysis showed an N-Gain score of 0.71575, which was categorized as high, indicating a significant improvement in students’ problem-solving abilities after using the developed media. Therefore, the Google Sites-based Guided Inquiry learning media is feasible, practical, and effective as an alternative physics learning medium to improve students’ problem-solving abilities on the topic of temperature and heat.

Abstract

Government construction projects face challenges related to strict contract duration and tight budgets, requiring a measurable performance monitoring method. This study evaluates the cost and schedule performance of the Rehab Site Development project of Puskesmas Awayan, Balangan Regency, using the Earned Value Analysis (EVA) method based on BCWS, BCWP, and ACWP data over 25 weeks of implementation. The results show the highest Schedule Performance Index (SPI) of 2.9395 at week 5, dropping below 1.00 between weeks 20–24, before returning to 1.0000 at week 25 as physical progress reached 100%. The Cost Performance Index (CPI) was constant at 1.0338 for all 25 reporting periods (not an average value), a direct consequence of ACWP being derived proportionally from the cumulative realization percentage in this project's cost-reporting structure. The projected Estimate at Completion (EAC) of Rp7,254,765,846 is lower than the Budget at Completion (BAC) of Rp7,500,000,000, indicating 3.27% cost efficiency, while the Estimate at Schedule (EAS) shows completion one week ahead of schedule. These results confirm that early-phase acceleration effectively builds a time buffer against the natural slowdown of finishing works, provided that workforce reallocation for finishing activities is planned ahead of the slowdown phase.

Abstract

This study examines the effects of the Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR), Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), and the ratio of Operating Expenses to Operating Income (BOPO) on Return on Assets (ROA) of state-owned banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during 2017-2025. A quantitative explanatory design was employed using balanced panel data obtained from the annual financial reports of Bank Mandiri, Bank Negara Indonesia, Bank Rakyat Indonesia, and Bank Tabungan Negara. Purposive sampling produced 36 bank-year observations. The data were analyzed with EViews 13 through descriptive statistics, panel-model selection, classical assumption tests, fixed-effect regression, and hypothesis testing. The Chow and Hausman tests selected the Fixed Effect Model as the most appropriate specification. The results show that LDR has a positive but statistically insignificant effect on ROA (coefficient 0.015241; p-value 0.1872). CAR has a positive and significant effect on ROA (coefficient 0.075421; p-value 0.0195), whereas BOPO has a negative and significant effect on ROA (coefficient -0.098754; p-value 0.0000). Simultaneously, LDR, CAR, and BOPO significantly affect ROA, with an adjusted R-squared of 0.894322. These findings indicate that capital strength and operational efficiency are the principal internal determinants of profitability in Indonesian state-owned banks, while a high level of credit intermediation does not automatically generate higher returns unless it is accompanied by sound credit quality and effective margin management.

Abstract

This study examines the association of Non-Performing Loan (NPL), Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR), and Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) with Return on Equity (ROE) of state-owned banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during 2017-2025. The study uses 36 bank-year observations from Bank Mandiri, Bank Tabungan Negara, Bank Rakyat Indonesia, and Bank Negara Indonesia. The available EViews 13 output provides a pooled ordinary least squares baseline. Under this specification, NPL is negatively associated with ROE (coefficient -2.0695), LDR is positive but statistically insignificant (0.1883), and CAR is positively associated with ROE (1.0615). The model is jointly significant and explains 37.89% of ROE variation. However, very high VIF values for LDR and CAR and a Durbin-Watson statistic of 1.4689 indicate that conventional t-statistics require caution. Because residual normality, Chow and Hausman tests, alternative specifications, and HAC or PCSE covariance estimates are not documented, the baseline findings should be treated as preliminary rather than final causal evidence. The weak LDR result may reflect heterogeneous credit segments and policy-lending mandates whose volume growth does not automatically increase shareholder returns. Managerially, capital strength and credit quality must be combined with operating efficiency in an integrated CAMELS framework.

Abstract

Abstract: Quality is an important factor that determines a company's competitiveness. PT MAIJ2, a company operating in the food industry, faces quality issues related to defects in the Cello packaging material of Melvar 306 g products. The defect rate reached 7.05%, exceeding the company's quality standard of 2%. This study aims to identify the types of defects, determine the sigma capability level, and propose improvement recommendations. The research employed the Six Sigma method with the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) approach, supported by Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Kaizen. In the Define phase, defect types and the SIPOC diagram were identified. The Measure phase involved determining Critical to Quality (CTQ) characteristics through the calculation of Defects Per Million Opportunities (DPMO), Sigma level, and p-control chart (P-Chart). The Analyze phase utilized Pareto diagrams, Fishbone diagrams, and FMEA to identify root causes and prioritize corrective actions. The Improve phase was conducted using the Kaizen approach with the 5W+1H method, while the Control phase focused on evaluating the implemented improvements. The results identified 13 types of defects in the Cello packaging material, with the three dominant defects being empty-package content defects (21%), packages trapped by the crimper (10%), and end-seal burst defects (10%). The average DPMO value before improvement was 70,487.55 with a Sigma level of 2.97σ. The FMEA results indicated that bent magazine forks and worn fingers (RPN = 576), improper Cello installation (RPN = 448), and unsuitable end-seal temperature settings (RPN = 200) were the main causes of defects. After implementing Kaizen improvements, the DPMO value decreased to 3,016.06 and the Sigma level increased to 4.25σ. These findings demonstrate that the implementation of DMAIC, FMEA, and Kaizen methods was effective in reducing defects and improving the quality of Cello packaging material for Melvar 306 g products at PT MAIJ2. Abstract

The characteristics of Generation Z students, who have grown up in the digital era, influence their preferences for housing, including boarding houses. The design of boarding house buildings plays a significant role not only in fulfilling residential needs but also in enhancing students' comfort, learning productivity, and psychological well-being. Meanwhile, the advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has created opportunities to accelerate the design visualization process by generating various design alternatives tailored to users' needs. This study aims to develop an AI-based boarding house design engineering model that aligns with the preferences of Generation Z students at Universitas Negeri Malang. The research employs a Research and Development (R&D) approach integrated with User-Centred Design (UCD). The preferences of Generation Z students are analyzed to formulate design concepts, spatial programs, and design criteria, which are subsequently translated into AI prompts to generate visualizations of boarding house design models. The findings present a design engineering model that integrates student preferences, boarding house planning standards, and AI technology to produce designs that satisfy functional, aesthetic, and technological requirements. The resulting model demonstrates that AI can effectively support the design exploration process by making it faster, more adaptive, and more user-oriented. This study is expected to serve as a reference for developing boarding house designs that are more responsive to the characteristics of Generation Z while promoting the application of AI in architectural design processes.

Abstract

Based on the results of observations and interviews, it shows that students' Biology learning outcomes are still low, characterized by student scores that are still below the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM), as well as students who are less enthusiastic in the learning process, especially on environmental pollution materials, so the Problem Based Learning learning model is applied. The Problem Based Learning learning model invites students to play an active role during the learning process by developing ideas through problem solving that has been provided. This study aims to prove whether or not there is an influence of the application of the Problem Based Learning learning model on students' Biology learning outcomes. This study uses a quantitative approach with the True Experimental Design method, this research design uses Posttest-Only Control Design, with the Simple Random Sampling technique. The number of samples in the study was 30 students in the instrument trial class, 37 students in the experimental class, and 37 students in the control class. Meanwhile, the data collection process used a test. Based on the results of the analysis, it shows that there is a significant influence, with a Sig.(2-tailed) value of 0.001 < 0.05, then Ha (alternative hypothesis) is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is an influence of the application of the Problem Based Learning model on students' Biology learning outcomes.
