Abstract

Green economy policies are crucial for all countries to ensure that economic activities progress while preserving environmental sustainability. The success of such policies is measured by the Green Economy Index, which in 2020 recorded a national score of 59.17 with 15 indicators, while provincial-level indicators are still being developed. This study analyzes 18 provincial indicators to identify the main factors influencing the Green Economy Index using LASSO regression. This method was chosen for its ability to efficiently perform feature selection, address multicollinearity, and reduce overfitting risks. The dataset includes 18 indicators and index values from 34 provinces. The results show that 15 indicators significantly affect the index. The developed model demonstrates good performance with an RMSE of 1.23 for the training set and 2.29 for the testing set. The R² values of 95.6% (training) and 85.98% (testing) indicate strong predictive capability. Moreover, surface water quality is identified as the most influential indicator. These findings are expected to support data-driven policymaking in strengthening the green economy at the provincial level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of the inauguration of Danantara on the share prices of three state-owned banks, namely PT Bank Mandiri (BMRI), PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BBRI), and PT Bank Negara Indonesia (BBNI). The method used is an event study with an observation period of ±30 days before and after February 24, 2025 as the event date. Secondary data in the form of daily stock closing prices were obtained from Yahoo Finance and analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality tests, and Paired-Sample T-tests. The results of the study show that there was a significant decrease in the share prices of the three banks after the inauguration of Danantara. BMRI experienced the largest average decrease, followed by BBRI and BBNI, with a significance value of the t-test < 0.001 in all samples. These findings indicate that the market responded negatively to the event, reflecting investor uncertainty about the direction of government policy and potential risks to the state-owned banking sector. In practical terms, these results confirm the importance of information transparency, communication strategies, and risk management by banking management in mitigating the impact of negative market perception. This research also enriches the literature of event studies in emerging markets by providing empirical evidence on the sensitivity of state-owned banking stocks to strategic public policies.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of Perceived Ease of Use, Perceived Usefulness, and User Interface Design on User Loyalty toward Shopee in Kabupaten Sumbawa, Indonesia. The research is motivated by the rapid growth of the e-commerce sector in Indonesia, which reached a transaction value of IDR 522 trillion in 2023 and an internet penetration rate of 79.5%. In such a highly competitive environment, user loyalty has become a strategic factor for sustaining e-commerce platforms, including Shopee. This study employed a quantitative approach using a survey method with a descriptive-verificative design. The population consisted of Shopee users in Kabupaten Sumbawa, and 100 respondents were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with the SmartPLS 4 application. The outer model assessment confirmed that all constructs met the criteria for validity and reliability (AVE > 0.5; Composite Reliability > 0.7; Cronbach’s Alpha > 0.7; HTMT < 0.85). The inner model analysis revealed that Perceived Ease of Use (β = 0.315; p < 0.05), Perceived Usefulness (β = 0.428; p < 0.05), and User Interface Design (β = 0.281; p < 0.05) had positive and significant effects on User Loyalty, with Perceived Usefulness being the strongest predictor. These findings highlight that the combination of ease of use, high perceived value, and engaging interface design serves as a crucial determinant of Shopee user loyalty in semi-urban contexts.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low level of student participation and learning outcomes in Arabic language instruction, which is still dominated by conventional methods. Content-Based Instruction (CBI) is considered a relevant approach because it emphasizes language learning through meaningful content, while YouTube emerges as a popular medium that provides authentic and contextual materials. The purpose of this research is to investigate the effectiveness of applying YouTube-based CBI in Arabic language learning at MA Al-Adli Palembang. The research method employed is mixed methods with a quasi-experimental design. The subjects of the study were tenth-grade students, with the experimental class taught using YouTube-based CBI and the control class taught with conventional methods. Data were collected through pre-tests, post-tests, observations, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed quantitatively using the Wilcoxon test and qualitatively through descriptive analysis. The results show that the average post-test score of the experimental class (91.83) was higher than that of the control class (81.5). In addition, students in the experimental group were more active, motivated, and engaged in the learning process. Thus, the implementation of YouTube-based CBI proved effective in improving Arabic learning outcomes while also creating a more interactive, contextual, and digital-friendly learning environment. These findings highlight the potential of integrating CBI with digital platforms like YouTube to support more meaningful and effective language learning experiences, particularly for today’s generation of students who are already familiar with online media.

Abstract

This study analyze the grammatical aspects of song lyrics “As It Was” by Harry Styles using Halliday and Hasan’s (1976) discourse analysis theory. The study employed a qualitative descriptive method with the lyrics as the primary data. The analysis focused on grammatical cohesion, namely 1) Reference, 2) Substitution, 3) Ellipsis, and 4) Conjunction. The results show that the lyrics are dominated by personal reference such as “you” (11 times) and “it” (21 times), which construct intimacy and emphasis on emotional conditions. Demonstrative reference such as “this” and “that” highlight the contrast between past and present situations. Comparative reference with the word “same” (7 times) strengthens the theme of inevitable change. Ellipsis appears through contractions like "don’t”, “it’s”, and “Holdin’”, which create a casual and personal tone. Conjunctions, though limited (e.g., “and”), maintain coherence. These grammatical devices contribute to expressing themes of change, longing, and personal struggle in the lyrics.

Abstract

As a developing country, Indonesia is also undergoing a shift toward digitalization. The digital transformation taking place within the government and society has led to changes in social behavior, particularly in transaction patterns and the management of personal data. Previously, Indonesia did not have specific legislation regulating the protection of personal data in the digital sphere. With the enactment of Law Number 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection (PDP Law), it is expected that the provisions within this law will serve as a legal framework for securing personal data. However, the implementation of the PDP Law still faces significant challenges, including the absence of implementing government regulations, the lack of an established independent supervisory authority, and the potential for discrepancies between the PDP Law and internationally recognized data protection standards. The lack of legal certainty surrounding the implementation of the PDP Law may impact foreign investment activities in Indonesia. Foreign investors, as data controllers, are required to comply with the provisions of the PDP Law, while at the same time, they need legal clarity to avoid misunderstandings that could lead to sanctions or criminal penalties. This study is conducted in a straightforward manner to address the challenges faced by foreign investors in implementing the PDP Law in Indonesia.

Abstract

Joint ventures (JVs) have become one of the most widely used instruments for Indonesian companies, both private and state-owned enterprises, to expand their business, establish strategic alliances, and gain access to international markets, technology, and capital. In addition to driving commercial growth, JVs also play a significant role in supporting national agendas such as industrial downstreaming, energy transition, and digital transformation. Despite their substantial potential, JVs often face considerable legal and operational challenges. Disputes may arise at various stages, including the formation, execution, and termination of the JV, often due to differences in business culture, vague contractual provisions, governance issues, or diverging interests between parties. In cross-border contexts, these disputes are further complicated by differing legal systems and regulatory environments, making arbitration an essential and effective mechanism for dispute resolution. This paper aims to examine how JVs can be strategically managed to avoid common errors, reduce legal uncertainty, and ensure smooth cooperation between partners. It emphasizes the importance of drafting clear, comprehensive, and enforceable JV agreements that include well-defined dispute resolution clauses. By integrating preventive legal strategies and choosing arbitration as a neutral and efficient forum for resolving conflicts, companies can not only safeguard their investments but also foster long-term, stable partnerships with international collaborators.

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of the concepts of control by the host state and protection for foreign investment by analyzing the dispute between Oleovest Pte. Ltd. and the Government of Indonesia, alongside a comparative analysis of the 2005 and 2018 Indonesia–Singapore Bilateral Investment Treaties (BITs). The core focus lies in the legal and policy tension between the state’s sovereign right to regulate its domestic affairs for public interest and its obligation to provide legal protection and guarantees to foreign investors. This tension is especially significant in investment treaty arbitration, where claims of unfair treatment or indirect expropriation must be balanced against the host state's regulatory authority. The Oleovest case exemplifies this dynamic, with allegations of breaches of fair and equitable treatment (FET) and indirect expropriation raised by the investor, while Indonesia asserts its right to regulate in pursuit of national development and public welfare. The changes between the 2005 and 2018 BITs reflect Indonesia’s evolving approach to balancing investor protection with regulatory autonomy, shifting from broad protections toward clearer exceptions that emphasize the host state’s right to regulate. This study underscores the importance of developing clearer legal frameworks that support both foreign investor confidence and state sovereignty, ensuring that investment treaties remain fair, balanced, and aligned with sustainable development goals.

Abstract

Indonesia strengthens its commitment to Net Zero Emissions (NZE) through the ratification of the Paris Agreement (Law No. 16 of 2016) and establishes a regulatory framework for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) through Presidential Regulation No. 14 of 2024 and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No. 16 of 2024. These regulations aim to reduce emissions while attracting foreign direct investment (FDI). With its vast geographic potential, Indonesia is considered strategically positioned to become a carbon storage hub, and the existence of CCS regulations is expected to attract global investors. However, certainty for foreign investors cannot rely solely on CCS regulations; it must align with Law No. 25 of 2007 on Investment, which has been adjusted by the Job Creation Law (Law No. 6 of 2023) to ensure legal certainty and non-discrimination amid global competition. This paper assesses the alignment of the CCS legal framework with investment law provisions, identifies implementation gaps, and evaluates the application of non-discrimination principles. The research method employs normative/doctrinal legal research (statute and conceptual approach) based on regulations and literature, with qualitative analysis to formulate recommendations for strengthening the CCS investment climate.
