Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine (1) the influence of price on purchasing decisions for Boneva brand bottled drinking water products; (2) the influence of brand awareness on purchasing decisions for Boneva brand bottled drinking water products; and (3) the influence of price and brand awareness on purchasing decisions for Boneva brand bottled drinking water. The study used a quantitative approach with independent variables of price (X1) and brand awareness (X2), and dependent variable of purchasing decisions (Y). The population in the study were all consumers of Boneva brand drinking water in Gorontalo City with a sample of 100 respondents obtained through purposive sampling technique. Data analysis used multiple linear regression, partial test (t test), and simultaneous test (F test) with the help of SPSS. The results of the study show that (1) partially price has a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions with a significant value of 0.002 < 0.05 and Thitung 3.150 > Ttable 1.984 (2) partially brand awareness has a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions with a significant value of 0.001 < 0.05 and Thitung 2.603 > Ttable 1.984 (3) Simultaneously, the price and brand awareness variables have a significant influence on purchasing decisions with a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05 and Fcount 68.239 > Ftable 3.09. With an adjusted R Square value of 0.576  which means that 5.76 % of variations or changes in purchasing decisions can be explained by price and brand awareness variables, while the remaining 42.4 % are influenced by other factors not examined in this study.

Abstract

Air pollution in urban areas is a serious problem, especially in locations with heavy traffic and incomplete combustion activities. This study aims to analyse air quality, specifically the concentration of Carbon Monoxide (CO), on Jalan Pusat Kota Tomohon and to identify the perception of the public and satay vendors regarding the health problems they may experience. This descriptive study uses direct measurement methods at three strategic locations and the distribution of questionnaires to respondents. The results show that the average CO level on Jalan Pusat Kota Tomohon is 2233µg/Nm3, which generally, at most points and at certain times, still meets the air quality standards based on Government Regulation No. 22 of 2021. The highest CO level reached 2634µg/Nm3 at Location 1 in front of Anugerah Restaurant in the late afternoon to evening, which has high traffic density and charcoal burning activities. Meanwhile, from interviews with several satay vendors, information was obtained that they experience health complaints such as coughing, sore throat, shortness of breath, and chest pain. These complaints are strongly suspected to be related to exposure to charcoal burning smoke and vehicle emissions that occur regularly. This study concludes that although the CO concentration is generally still below the threshold, chronic exposure still has the potential to cause health problems for vulnerable populations such as satay vendors.

Abstract

Android-based educational games bring a new way to make English learning more engaging for tenth-grade students at SMA Swasta Pertiwi 2 Padang in the 2025/2026 academic year. The aim is to test the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the developed game so it can be applied as a classroom medium. This study used a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the 4D model: Define, Design, Development, and Disseminate. Thirty students took part as participants, and data were collected through questionnaires from validators and learners, then analyzed with Microsoft Excel. Findings reveal that the game reached an average validity score of 87.41%, categorized as highly valid. Practicality scored 85.71%, showing the game is user-friendly and appropriate for students. Effectiveness reached 89.53%, proving the game improves learning activities and strengthens engagement. These results demonstrate that the application not only meets academic and technical standards but also supports an enjoyable and motivating learning process. In conclusion, the Android-based educational game is valid, practical, and effective, making it a promising tool to support English language learning in high school.

Abstract

This study explores the role of digital communication media in sustaining long-distance romantic relationships (LDR) between partners residing in different countries. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews and participant observations involving individuals who have experienced cross-national LDRs for extended periods. The findings reveal that platforms such as WhatsApp and Instagram play a central role in maintaining emotional intimacy, fostering trust, and facilitating regular day-to-day interactions despite geographical separation. These digital tools enable couples to share real-time updates, express affection, and maintain a sense of presence in each other's lives. However, several challenges persist, including frequent miscommunication due to message ambiguity, time-zone differences that disrupt synchronous communication, and cultural barriers that may lead to misunderstandings or mismatched expectations. The study further shows that the effective use of communication strategies, such as creating structured schedules for video calls, maintaining openness, practicing active listening, and engaging in mutual self-disclosure, helps reduce uncertainty and increase relationship satisfaction. These strategies foster a sense of emotional security and contribute to greater relational stability. In addition, the role of digital media extends beyond communication by acting as a symbolic space for connection and shared meaning. Overall, the findings underscore the crucial importance of intentional and adaptive communication in addressing emotional, temporal, and cultural gaps within cross-national LDRs, and highlight the evolving function of digital media as a sustaining force in modern romantic relationships.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the marketing communication strategies of the traditional beverage Moke as a representation of the cultural identity of the people of Kupang City. Moke is not only regarded as a consumable product but also as a symbol of social values, togetherness, and cultural heritage passed down across generations. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the study examines how communication strategies, both through traditional and digital media, can transform the image of Moke from a mere traditional drink into a local cultural icon. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that the marketing communication strategy for Moke involves three main dimensions: first, the use of digital media to reach younger generations and expand the market; second, the utilization of traditional media and community interactions to maintain cultural legitimacy; and third, cultural narratives that emphasize the values of togetherness, tradition, and pride in local identity. However, the marketing of Moke also faces challenges in the form of negative stigma as an alcoholic beverage and limited government support in terms of regulation and promotion. In conclusion, marketing communication strategies play a crucial role not only in strengthening the image of Moke as a local product but also in preserving the cultural identity of Kupang City.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of auditor independence and ethics on audit quality, with audit fees as a moderating variable, in Public Accounting Firms (KAP) located in South Jakarta. The research is motivated by the importance of maintaining audit quality as a form of accountability and public trust in the accounting profession. Auditor independence is often considered a key factor in ensuring the objectivity of audit results, while auditor ethics serve as a moral foundation for delivering high-quality audits. However, differing opinions exist regarding the extent to which these two factors truly impact audit quality, especially considering the role of audit fees, which often become a sensitive issue in the auditor-client relationship. This study employs a quantitative approach using Partial Least Squares (PLS) analysis with the SmartPLS software. The population includes all auditors working in Public Accounting Firms in South Jakarta, with a saturated sampling technique applied so that all members of the population are included in the sample. The results show that auditor independence has a significant positive effect on audit quality, meaning that higher levels of independence lead to better audit quality. On the other hand, auditor ethics do not significantly affect audit quality, indicating that ethical considerations are not always explicitly reflected in audit outcomes. Additionally, audit fees are found to moderate the relationship between independence and audit quality but do not moderate the relationship between auditor ethics and audit quality.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low level of students’ conceptual understanding, which is caused by the use of inappropriate learning models. This has led to students having difficulty understanding science concepts contextually in everyday life. To address this issue, the researcher implemented the CORE learning model (Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, Extending) to improve students’ conceptual understanding. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the CORE (Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, Extending) learning model on the conceptual understanding of IPAS (Social, Science, and Environmental Studies) among fifth-grade students at MIS MMA 4 Sukabumi, Bandar Lampung. This research uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method. The population consists of all fifth-grade students, totaling 55 students divided into two classes. The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling, with class 5A as the experimental group (26 students) and class 5B as the control group (29 students). The instrument used was a multiple-choice test of learning outcomes, which had been validated and tested for reliability. Data analysis was conducted using the Independent Samples t-Test to test the hypothesis. The test results showed a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.004, which is less than the significance level of 0.05. This indicates that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of the CORE (Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, Extending) learning model has a significant effect on improving students’ conceptual understanding.

Abstract

Sepsis is a serious condition that occurs when the body overreacts to an infection, causing widespread inflammation and potentially threatening life. When an infection enters the bloodstream, it triggers a strong immune response that can disrupt organ function. This study aimed to examine antibiotic use in sepsis patients in the ICU of RSUD Ulin Banjarmasin in 2024. The analysis was conducted quantitatively using the ATC/DDD method and qualitatively with the Gyssens method. This retrospective observational study included a total of 14 patients, with data collected from June to July 2025. Results showed a total antibiotic use of 80.678 DDD/100, with Ceftriaxone being the most frequently used (52.2%) and Gentamicin the least (13.5%). The main antibiotics used were Ceftriaxone, Metronidazole, Meropenem 1 g, and Ceftazidime. Gyssens evaluation indicated that most antibiotic use fell into the appropriate category (category 0), while other combinations were in categories I to IVA. In conclusion, antibiotic use in the ICU exceeded WHO standards, which may risk resistance, but overall usage followed a rational and careful approach.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that may influence social media addiction among students at the State Polytechnic of Malang. The research was conducted over a three-month period, from June to August 2025, using a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 161 respondents, all of whom were students majoring in Marketing Management at the State Polytechnic of Malang. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the help of SmartPLS 3 software. This method was chosen due to its ability to handle complex relationships between latent variables and to provide more accurate and reliable results. The findings of the study reveal that narcissism and emotional problems have a significant positive effect on self-esteem. In addition, self-esteem is found to significantly influence social media addiction, indicating that individuals with lower self-esteem are more likely to develop addictive behaviors toward social media platforms. Moreover, the study also found that narcissism and emotional problems indirectly affect social media addiction through self-esteem as a mediating variable. These results suggest that self-esteem plays a crucial mediating role in the relationship between psychological traits and social media addiction. Therefore, efforts to address social media addiction among students should also consider psychological factors such as self-esteem, narcissism, and emotional well-being.

Abstract

This study aims to empirically examine the influence of the effectiveness of internal supervision, budget planning, and the implementation of accounting systems on the financial performance of local governments. The background of this research is rooted in the importance of accountable and transparent regional financial management that is oriented toward achieving local development goals. The financial performance of local governments is influenced not only by technical factors related to budget implementation but also by the quality of internal supervision and the adequacy of the accounting systems applied. This study employs a quantitative approach, collecting data through questionnaires and analyzing the results using multiple linear regression tests. The findings reveal that: (1) the effectiveness of internal supervision has a negative and significant impact on the financial performance of local governments, as indicated by a t-value < t-table (-3.114 < 2.011) and a significance level of 0.03 < 0.05. This suggests that overly strict internal supervision can hinder budget implementation flexibility, ultimately reducing financial performance; (2) budget planning has a positive and significant effect on financial performance, supported by a t-value > t-table (5.075 > 2.011) and a significance level of 0.00 < 0.05, indicating that higher-quality budget planning leads to more optimal financial outcomes; and (3) the implementation of accounting systems also positively and significantly affects financial performance, with a t-value > t-table (3.424 > 2.011) and a significance level of 0.01 < 0.05, showing that proper accounting system implementation can enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and accountability of local financial reporting. Overall, the study confirms that the financial performance of local governments results from a complex interaction between supervision, planning, and the accounting systems employed.
