There have been many cases of fire in high-rise building occurring in the world taking a lot of casualties, some of them are the World Plasco Building in Tehran, the Grenfell Tower in London, and the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas in Las Vegas. One of the problems that arise in many cases of fire in a high-rise building is the difficulty of access for firefighters to control fire. According to these cases, it is crucial to analyse further the access of firefighter in a high-rise building as protection against fire hazard. The study aims to find out how to assess the reliability of the fire fighting access, water supply, access aperture, and shaft of the firefighter in a high-rise building as protection against fire hazards by using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) which is sufficient to solve the problems of the reliability level of firefighters access in a high-rise building. The result is that the access of firefighter in the high-rise building on the Good level of reliability. Therefore, to improve the results of the reliability value of firefighters access in the high-rise building to be better by giving some design recommendations which according to the requirements of firefighters access. Meanwhile, the researchers can use these results of the study as reference and information for future research.

The shift of local architecture to global architecture and the need for tourism and relaxation are the main reasons in designing a hotel resort at Pangururan, Samosir. The hotel resort development in this location aims to preserve the culture and provide recreation and lodging facilities with a beautiful natural landscape. the design of the hotel resort is the approach to Batak Toba culture with the neo-vernacular theme. Base on the research of local culture, five main concepts applied are local material, adaptive to climate, adaptive to site contour, space and structural flexibility by providing communal areas and the using of anti-earthquake system. This design can be used as a prototype in the development of the resort hotel in the Samosir to preserve their local culture.

This research focuses only on passive fire protection systems in-hospital buildings because the Hospital is public buildings that many people use as facilities for health needs. Hospital residents are not only healthy people, but most sick people are not able to save themselves because of that the building safety system must be reliable especially fire protection systems. This study uses descriptive analysis method by checking directly in the field against the variables that have determined and then analyzed, based on the weight of the AHP method after that each variable and sub-variable will be assessed with a Likert scale according to its suitability with regulations and standards, then weights will be multiplied by the value of conformity to get the reliability value. The results are the level of reliability of the building fire passive protection system 2,250 it includes which in the category enough. This is to increase the value of the level of reliability, it must fulfill the design guidelines in the form of standards.

The lack of public reading interest makes people rarely come to visit the public library. The public library of The Binjai city as a media to increase people's knowledge, in fact, that still using traditional planning and structuring and has a less comfortable atmosphere. The Binjai city public library requires to improve its facilities and infrastructures related to the standards of a public library, so that possible to increase people's interest in visiting the library. The Samosir Ulos Weaving Craft Center is present as a tool that can maintain the Ulos handicrafts of the local community and also empower the community as a place to produce various types of Ulos. The research methodology starts by collecting data, literature studies, Surveys to research locations and also design problem-solving. From the research process by the existing one, this building use metaphor architecture theme as its concept. The choosing of the metaphor theme in the building is considered to be able to describe the function and also introduce the culture of Ulos to the community. The Bintang Maratur Ulos pattern and the Mangulosi ceremony is forming the metaphor concept of the building. With the research and design of the Ulos Samosir weaving center, this can be a consideration for the Samosir district government or local community leaders to make this facility.

Tourism will be producing foreign exchange in Indonesia. Indonesia has a tourism appeal that manifests itself in traditional homes and village. In promoting Indonesian tourism to foreign countries, traditional architecture is a better choice, but fewer relics of traditional building art are worth a visit. Sumatera is an ethnically diverse island. Sumatera has become a tourist attraction that is often visited by foreign tourist. Resort attractions are becoming tourist attractions and lodging that is frequented by foreign tourist. There are several problems, namely how to realize the planning and design of resort cottages by considering traditional architecture and having planning standards that need to consider based on comparative studies carried out, then how to process the appearance of the building to fit the atmosphere in Taman Simalem Resort. With the aim of the design is to realize the concept of designing Resort Cottages and supporting facilities such as restaurants and spas by applying the principles of Traditional architecture. The design method used in the object design includes two aspects, namely the approach to the design theme, location, and environmental studies.

The territory of Indonesia has geographical, geological, hierarchical and demographic conditions that enable disasters or emergencies, whether caused by natural or non-natural factors. When an emergency occurs, evacuation must be carried out as quickly and effectively as possible to minimize losses. Evacuation Emergency conditions are things that need to be considered by every building manager. However, until now buildings are still often found that are operating but have not met the requirements of building function worthy certificates. The hotel building is one of the buildings that need to be considered is the emergency response system and its evacuation route. The hotel building is a vertical residential building that has many users and activities, so it requires an optimal evacuation route. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of evacuation routes in hotel buildings and recommend proper evacuation routes for a hotel building. A descriptive study was conducted to determine the existing conditions and simulations using Rockwell Arena software to determine the visitor's evacuation speed in hotel buildings. The results of the research and simulation of Rockwell Arena software indicate that the evacuation path in hotel buildings has not been sufficient so that design recommendations are needed to improve the effectiveness of evacuation routes. This research can be used as a reference and consideration for finding out the problems that exist on the evacuation routes in hotel buildings.
