Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the causality between the exchange rate for farmers, the consumer price index for food, and inflation in five major cities in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) bounds testing and Toda-Yamamoto causality procedures are employed for analyzing monthly data from January 2015 to July 2022, allowing for the examination of both short-term and long-term effects. The empirical findings indicate a long-run equilibrium between the variables. The results reveal that in both the short run and long run, a 1% change in food prices results in approximately a 100% increase in the farmers' exchange rate. However, the Toda-Yamamoto causality test reveals that, except for a unidirectional causality relationship from the farmers' exchange rate to inflation in the food consumer price index, there is no significant causal relationship between the variables in the studied period and cities. This research contributes new insights into the interplay between inflation and the exchange rate for farmers, particularly in regions where agriculture is the primary source of income.

Abstract

Religion is often marked by gender inequality. Gender equality has always been controversial, especially in explaining, interpreting, and determining the law between women and men. At-Thabari and Buya Hamka have similarities and differences in interpreting Surah an-Nisa': 34. This study aims to determine the interpretation of Surah an-Nisa': 34 according to classical and contemporary interpreters At-Thabari and Buya Hamka to find similarities and differences in the interpretations of At-Thabari and Buya Hamka, and to determine the relevance of gender equality in the perspective of Surah an-Nisa': 34. This type of research uses library research. Then, the data was analyzed using a comparative descriptive method, carried out using analysis techniques and comparisons, and the validity of the data was checked to obtain research results following the objectives. The results of this study indicate that At-Thabari and Buya Hamka's thoughts on gender equality have similarities in interpreting Surah an-Nisa': 34 regarding the authority of men over women, and there are differences in thinking based on Surah An-Nisa: 34 regarding the interpretation view. Differences in time, conditions, situations, and civilizations that influence it. Based on this study, it can also be concluded that the surah an-Nisa': 34 emphasizes that Islam, on several occasions, elevates the position of men over women. Gender equality is part of Islamic values that apply universally.

Abstract

Linguistically speaking, Istihsan is the masdar version of the word Istahsan - Yastahsin - Istihsana, which denotes thinking about, pondering the existence of, or seeking for something better to follow. The definition of "shara" according to Abdul Wahhab Khallaf, Istihsan, is "Transferring a mujtahid from the law kulli (generic) to the law of exceptions due to the evidence supporting it, or from qiyas prison (clear) to qiyas khafi (vague). The author of this study restricts it to the use of the concept of Istihsan in determining the legal status of halal tourism. In Islamic law, the idea of istihsan is an ijtihad technique that permits a mujtahid, or Islamic jurist, to base the law on morality or fairness. Istihsan can be used to evaluate the moral and just components of tourism-related activities in order to establish the legal status of halal travel. By guaranteeing that tourist operations adhere to sharia principles and must be founded on maslahah mursalah for each user or customer, this notion can serve as the foundation for establishing the legal status of halal tourism. The legal status of halal tourism can thus be ascertained by using the notion of istihsan and the tenets of sharia economic law, taking into account elements of fairness, morality, and compliance with sharia principles.

Abstract

The problems of young people are often associated with the problem of marriage or life partners. Among them, some are motivated to marry young, and some choose to pursue a career, so perhaps this discussion can be related to polygamy. There are many reasons behind these desires, especially with the increasingly developing era often giving rise to new problems that still lack solutions. In Islam, someone who has reached the age of puberty is highly recommended to get married. In Java itself, those who delay their marriage often get a bad social status or even get ostracized, which, in fact, is an encouragement for someone to seriously prepare for marriage. From several studies conducted by Prof. Dr. Quraish Shihab in his Tafsir book, he describes that every problem has a subjective and objective background according to the perspective of the Shari'a. He does not agree with the phenomenon of young marriage if the excuse is only to avoid adultery, arguing that age maturity is a priority consideration in a person's readiness to face household polemics. Likewise, serious career pursuit, which often dissuades someone from following the Prophet's sunnah, will be bad if it invites more dangerous consequences. As for the opinion he expressed regarding polygamy, he followed the opinion of the majority of ulama regarding the permissibility of polygamy and clearly forbade polyandry. The purpose of marriage and its consequences are so complex, so what needs to be paid attention to is education and the maturation of the individual's thinking power to realize the purpose of marriage.
