Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of istihsan in usul al-fiqh and examine its relevance and application in sharia economic fatwas as a response to the complexity of modern economic transactions that cannot always be resolved through general rules or qiyas jali. The research methodology used is a qualitative approach with a library research type and is normative in nature, with primary data in the form of fatwas from the National Sharia Council-Indonesian Ulema Council (DSN-MUI) relating to contemporary contracts and transactions, such as salam contracts, istisna', mu'āṭāh sales, sharia electronic money, and sharia fintech services, as well as secondary data in the form of ushul fikih and fikih muamalah literature. The analysis was conducted through content analysis and comparative-argumentative analysis to assess the shift in legal rulings from qiyas jali to the istihsan approach. The results of the study show that istihsan is used explicitly in sharia economic fatwas through various forms, such as istihsan bi al-nash, istihsan bi al-maslahah, and istihsan bi al-'urf, in order to realize benefits, justice, and convenience without violating the basic principles of sharia, particularly the prohibition of usury, gharar, and injustice. This study confirms that istihsan is a valid and relevant method of ijtihad in the development of Islamic economic fatwas, and has original value in demonstrating the adaptability of Islamic law to contemporary economic dynamics while remaining oriented towards the maqashid of Sharia.

Abstract

The values of monotheism in Islamic teachings play a very important role in shaping the moral and ethical foundations of a person's life. In modern life, which is full of challenges, technological developments, and rapid social changes, the application of monotheistic values is very relevant in guiding individuals to adhere to the right moral principles. This study aims to examine the relevance of tauhid values in shaping modern life ethics, emphasizing how tauhid principles can serve as a foundation for facing various moral challenges in this ever-evolving world. Through a deeper understanding of tauhid, it is hoped that each individual can integrate it into their daily lives, thereby creating a more meaningful, balanced, and responsible life. The results of this study are also expected to contribute to an understanding of how the value of tauhid can bring positive change in modern society and maintain a balance between the world and the hereafter.

Abstract

This study aims to reconstruct teacher competencies through the lens of prophetic pedagogy by examining the Nabawi method of student error correction as articulated in Manhaj an-Nabawi fī Taqwīm al-Akhtā' by Muhammad Yusuf Al-Shatti. It seeks to address the theoretical gap in contemporary Islamic education literature by positioning error correction as a distinct analytical lens for understanding remedial teacher competencies. This research adopts a qualitative library research design employing interpretive text analysis and qualitative content analysis. The primary data source is Al-Shatti's work on Nabawi error correction, supported by contemporary scholarly literature on prophetic pedagogy, teacher competencies, and humane disciplinary approaches. Data were collected through close reading, thematic coding, and conceptual categorization, followed by thematic analysis to reconstruct communicative, psychological, spiritual, and strategic teacher competencies. Data credibility was ensured through source triangulation and thick description. The findings reveal that, within Nabawi pedagogy, student error is constructed as an inherent human phenomenon and a formative educational entry point rather than a disciplinary violation. Error correction is characterized by gradual instruction, empathy, dignity preservation, emotional safety, and moral justice. These principles give rise to integrative remedial teacher competencies that emphasize ethical communication, psychological regulation, restorative engagement, and spiritual orientation. This study offers an original contribution by reconstructing prophetic pedagogy as a coherent competency-based educational framework rather than a set of normative moral exemplars. It provides practical guidance for educators and policy makers seeking humane, dignified, and ethically grounded approaches to student discipline while enriching contemporary educational theory with a moral-spiritual perspective.

Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in education presents ethical challenges that require attention, especially in the context of Islamic education. This study aims to formulate a model of AI literacy curriculum that integrates Islamic ethics, based on the principles of maqāṣid al-sharl'ah, tawhid, and akhlak. Using a descriptive-conceptual qualitative approach, this study shows that AI literacy in Muhammadiyah educational institutions should go beyond mere technical skills, but also include the development of moral character aligned with Islamic values. The proposed curriculum model aims to build critical awareness, digital etiquette, and social responsibility among students in using technology. The study also suggests gradual implementation at the primary and secondary education levels, with the hope of creating a generation that is not only skilled in technology but also moral and ethical. The findings of this study are expected to serve as a reference for developing an ethical technology-based education curriculum in Muhammadiyah institutions and Islamic education in general.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to contextualize the Qur'anic principle of Mizan as a Theological framework for addressing the global climate crisis, which reflects a cosmic imbalance resulting from excessive anthropogenic activities. It specifically explores how Mizan can be implemented as a solution through the lenses of two major contemporary exegetes. Methodology: This research employs a qualitative library research method, utilizing thematic (maudhu'i) and comparative (muqarran) exegetical approaches. The analysis focuses on comparing the legalistic-contemporary perspective of Wahbah al-Zuhayli's Tafsir Al-Munir with socio-literary (adabi-ijtima'i) style of Buya Hamka's Tafsir Al-Azhar. Results: The findings demonstrate that Wahbah al-Zuhayli emphasizes Mizan as a divine rule that is legally binding, where environmental destruction is categorized as a Sharia violation with sinful consequences. Conversely, Buya Hamka perceives Mizan as a manifestation of cosmic harmony and spiritual etiquette (adab). The synthesis of these perspectives culminates in the concept of "Integral Mizan" a mitigation model that integrates regulatory firmness (law) with moral consciousness (adab). Application/Originality/Value: This research contributes a novel theological-ecological model called "Integral Mizan" to the discourse on environmental ethics. It offers a robust theological foundation for policy-makers and religious scholars to develop comprehensive, solutive, and spiritually-grounded climate mitigation policies.

Abstract

Purpose: This paper tries to examine the tafsīr al-ishārī (allegorical exegesis) provided by Wazīr al-Markaz on Q38:21-26 in Sūrat al-Ṣād. The current study focuses on this aspect because the interpretation of the said portion has raised a lot of controversy lately on social media in southern Nigeria, which led Wazīr to intervene. These verses gave an account of Prophet Dāwūd's encounter with the two litigants, and what transpired caused the said interpretive controversy, leading to this research. The controversy revolved around the interpretation of the verses on Prophet Dāwūd's capability to administer justice on a matter before him.Methodology: Using doctrinal methodology, the research intends to examine Wazīr's allegorical exegesis on Sūrat al-Ṣād 38:21-26. With the aid of primary texts written in Arabic and some recent articles, the paper tries to improve the understanding of the reader on tafsīr al-ishārī and the concept of natural justice before linking it with Wazīr's discussion. Results: After examination, the major finding is that the interpretation supplied by Wazīr shed more light on the verses in question, especially when it clarified two things. First, it gives a fresh perspective on the verses, and secondly, it clarifies the capacity of Prophet Dāwūd to administer justice.Originality: The current study contributes to knowledge by, of course, highlighting and examining the fresh interpretation supplied by Wazīr. This interpretation sheds more light on the controversies found in existing interpretations of the said portion of the verses and their implications in the contemporary Islamic world and the Western concept of natural justice.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the epistemological construction of legal reasoning as a bridge between abstract legal norms and concrete facts, as well as examine the dialectic between legal certainty, substantive justice and social benefit in modern law enforcement practices inera of digital disruption. The methodology used is normative-qualitative legal research based on literature study with a conceptual and comparative approach, with secondary data sources in the form of statutory regulations, jurisprudence, books and scientific journals which are analyzed using deduction-induction techniques. descriptively. The research results show that legal reasoning cannot be understood as a mechanistic application of formal logical syllogism, but rather as a dialectical process that combines deductive-inductive logic, hermeneutical interpretation, and judge's discretion in legal discovery in order to realizesubstantive justice that goes beyond procedural justice. The research also found an inherent tension between the certainty of legal texts and society's demands for justice, as well as new challenges in the form of the integration of artificial intelligence which has the potential to increase efficiency but carries the risk of reducing the moral dimension of legal reasoning. Applicatively, this research offers an integrative legal reasoning paradigm based on Pancasila values which harmonizes positivism, utilitarianism and natural law, and places technology as an argumentative tool under the control of human ethics. The value of novelty lies in the synthesis between legal hermeneutics and digital literacy to strengthen the quality of reasoning of law enforcement officials so that decisions are more accountable, humane and responsive to the complexity of future law.

The advancement of digital technology has affected the character development and psychological well-being of Generation Z, with young women experiencing increased exposure to social media. Insecurity, resulting from unrealistic beauty standards, social comparison, and appearance-related cyberbullying, has emerged as a significant issue in this context. These factors are associated with lower self-esteem, identity confusion, and unhealthy behaviors. This study evaluates the relevance of Rahmah El-Yunusiyah’s educational philosophy, as applied at Perguruan Diniyyah Puteri, in supporting the character, personality, and critical digital literacy of Generation Z young women. A qualitative approach was employed, using library research to analyze primary sources, including Rahmah El-Yunusiyah's official biography, as well as secondary sources such as academic journals and theoretical literature. Abstract

This research examines the concept of tajdid in Muhammadiyah's progressive education as a conceptual framework that integrates the reform of Islamic values with the modernization of the education system in response to the challenges of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and Society 5.0. The method used in this study is qualitative with a literature approach (Library Research), this study analyzes books, scientific journal articles, previous studies, and official documents of Muhammadiyah related to Islamic education, progressive education, reform, and modernization. The findings show that tajdid functions as an ideological foundation and operational strategy in the development of Muhammadiyah education, directing the integration of religious knowledge and general knowledge, progressive pedagogical methods, and adaptive educational governance. Muhammadiyah education emphasizes critical thinking, technological literacy, character building, and social responsibility through a holistic and humanist educational approach rooted in Islamic values. The concept of progressive education reflects an effort to align Islamic teachings with contemporary social realities, by adopting progressive educational thinking while maintaining a strong religious orientation. In the context of rapid technological advancement, Muhammadiyah education positions technology as a means to improve the effectiveness of learning and human welfare, not as the ultimate goal. This research makes a conceptual contribution by strengthening the understanding of tajdid as a framework that shapes the direction of Muhammadiyah education towards a transformative, adaptive, and values-based Islamic education model, which remains relevant in the midst of ongoing social and technological changes.
