Abstract

Purpose: This narrative review synthesizes studies from 2017-2025 examining the effects of double job roles and work stress on hospital employee performance, emphasizing burnout and job satisfaction as mediators.Methodology: Guided by the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) model, this review utilized Scopus, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar, selecting 46 studies (21 representative exemplars) published between 2017 and 2025. The review adopted a narrative design enriched with systematic synthesis elements, following an adapted PRISMA framework for thematic coding and analysis. Results: Double job assignments and work stress consistently emerged as high-strain job demands, leading to role overload and emotional exhaustion. Burnout functions as the primary psychological conduit, translating stress and overload into performance decline and increased medical errors. Conversely, job satisfaction acts as a critical buffer, enhancing resilience, lowering turnover intention, and sustaining motivation. Organizational supports, such as effective leadership and adequate staffing, moderate these negative effects.Applications/Originality/Value: The findings provide critical insights for hospital administrators and health ministries for workforce planning, performance management, and well-being initiatives. The synthesis contributes to the theoretical refinement of the JD-R framework within healthcare contexts, integrating socio-structural variables.

Abstract

Purpose: This study examines the direct effects of work-life balance and psychological well-being on job performance among Generation Z employees in Central Java, Indonesia, and investigates whether employee engagement and self-efficacy mediate these relationships.Methodology: A quantitative survey was administered to 181 Generation Z respondents working in major cities of Central Java. Data were collected using a 24-item instrument and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4.0.Results: The findings indicate that both work-life balance and psychological well-being have significant positive direct effects on job performance. However, employee engagement and self-efficacy do not mediate these relationships, as all indirect effects were statistically non-significant.Applications/Originality/Value: This study contributes to the literature by challenging the assumed mediating roles of engagement and self-efficacy in the well-being–performance link for Generation Z in a non-Western context. It offers practical insights for organizations aiming to enhance Gen Z performance through well-being initiatives rather than traditional engagement-based interventions.

Abstract

This article aims to develop a proposition about the factors that influence medication errors in hospitals. This study selected articles using the keyword "medication error" for articles in the range years of 2020 to 2025. We have conducted an initial selection process to find out which articles are suitable for medication errors. We also selected and reviewed 17 articles that discussed the relationship between the effects of workload, work environment and adherence to medication errors. Based on the results of the theoretical study, workload and work environment affect medication error and adherence to medication administration procedures as intervening variables. Workload and work environment affect medication error. According to the theory of planned behavior, a person behaves because they are driven by a certain stimulus, then the work environment is not conducive and the high workload received by employees, will decrease performance and increase the risk of errors. Therefore, it is important for managers to create a conducive work environment, manage a balanced workload and according to capacity, increase employee compliance with SOPs through training, supervision, and internal audits.

Abstract

Purpose: This study investigates the influence of Workforce Strategic Importance and HR Flexibility on Strategic Human Capabilities and their subsequent impact on Organizational Performance within higher education institutions, focusing on the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (FEB UMS). The research highlights how human capital adaptability and strategic alignment serve as critical determinants of organizational success.Methodology: A quantitative research design was employed by distributing structured questionnaires to 72 permanent lecturers, assessed using a five-point Likert scale. Data analysis was conducted using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) through SmartPLS 4.0 to evaluate construct validity, reliability, and structural path relationships among variables. The conceptual model integrates four main constructs: Workforce Strategic Importance, HR Flexibility, Strategic Human Capabilities, and Organizational Performance. Results: The results reveal that both Workforce Strategic Importance and HR Flexibility have positive but insignificant direct effects on Organizational Performance. Conversely, both variables significantly enhance Strategic Human Capabilities, which in turn demonstrate a strong positive influence on Organizational Performance. These findings confirm that Strategic Human Capabilities act as an essential mediating mechanism in translating HR initiatives into performance outcomes.Applications/Originality/Value: This study reinforces the Resource-Based View (RBV) by empirically demonstrating that capability development is the core mechanism through which HR strategies contribute to competitive performance in higher education. The findings provide actionable insights for institutional leaders in designing strategic HR practices that strengthen lecturer capability, adaptability, and contribution. Future studies are encouraged to expand sample sizes, incorporate comparative settings, and examine additional HR determinants such as Technical HRM, leadership style, and employee motivation to further enrich performance improvement strategies.

Abstract

Nutrition and health problems in early childhood are important factors in the process of child growth and development and require serious attention from parents and educators. The Central Leadership of Nasyiatul Aisyiyah implements the TIMBANG (Improve Balanced Nutrition) Program in Tieng Village as one of the stunting locus areas in Wonosobo Regency. Based on preliminary data, the prevalence of stunting in Tieng Village reached 30%, far above the WHO standard of 22%. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the 12-day supplemental feeding program for stunted toddlers in Tieng Village. The research used a descriptive qualitative approach with informants consisting of the Central Leadership of Nasyiatul Aisyiyah, village heads, TIMBANG coordinators, village midwives, human development cadres, and stunting mothers under five. Data was collected through in-depth observation and interviews. The results of the study showed that the program was running according to standards and no significant obstacles were found. The program has succeeded in reducing the number of stunting toddlers from 110 to 76 children. These findings show that the provision of additional food has a positive impact in accelerating stunting reduction so that the village government is expected to allocate a budget for the sustainability of the program.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze how silent reading-based morning literacy programs are planned, implemented, evaluated, and focused on fostering concentration among fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Ngrandah. This study departs from previous research, which has focused more on reading outcomes, while the management of morning literacy programs from an educational management perspective has been limited.Methodology: This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The research subjects consist of one principal, one fifth-grade teacher, and 21 fifth-grade students. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. Data validity is obtained through triangulation of sources and techniques, while data analysis is carried out using an interactive model that includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Results: The results of the study indicate that structured, consistent silent reading-based literacy program management supported by reading corner facilities can create a calmer learning atmosphere, improve students' readiness and concentration before core learning, and foster independent reading habits. Most students showed an increase in learning readiness after the program was implemented.Applications/Originality/Value: This study offers a novelty in the aspect of managerial studies, namely by positioning silent reading not only as a reading strategy, but as a literacy program that is managed through management functions (planning, implementation, and evaluation) and its focus of application. These findings contribute theoretically to the development of school literacy program management and practically as a simple model that can be replicated by other elementary schools to foster student concentration and readiness to learn.
