Abstract

General Background: Arabic holds a central role in Islamic education as the language of the Qur’an and Hadith, yet many students in Indonesia still show low interest in learning it. Specific Background: The Turjuman Al-Qur’an program, introduced by the Ummi Foundation in 2015, seeks to strengthen students’ connection with the Qur’an while improving their Arabic learning experience. Knowledge Gap: Despite its implementation, limited studies have explored how this program shapes students’ learning interest, particularly in elementary school settings. Aims: This study investigates the characteristics of students’ interest in learning Arabic, the underlying causes, and the ways they express such interest. Results: Findings reveal five key characteristics of learning interest: focused attention, good memory retention, enjoyment, satisfaction with outcomes, and active participation. Three main causes emerged: internal motivation, teacher methods, and structured classroom rules. Students expressed their interest verbally, through actions, academic achievements, or both simultaneously. Novelty: Unlike previous studies focusing on comprehension, this research uniquely examines the multidimensional nature of Arabic learning interest in Turjuman Al-Qur’an students. Implications: The results highlight the importance of combining innovative pedagogy, supportive classroom structures, and motivational strategies to foster sustainable Arabic learning interest in young learners. Highlights: Identifies five behavioral indicators of Arabic learning interest. Explores three key causes shaping student motivation. Reveals four distinct ways students express their learning interest. Keywords: Arabic Learning, Student Interest, Turjuman Al-Qur’an, Islamic Education, Motivation

Abstract

General background: Parental involvement is a crucial factor in supporting children’s learning development, yet many parents remain insufficiently engaged in their child’s education. Specific background: Religiosity has been associated with parenting practices, but its role in shaping parental involvement remains inconclusive, particularly when psychological constructs such as self-esteem are considered. Knowledge gap: Prior studies often examined religiosity and parental involvement separately, with limited attention to self-esteem as a mediating variable. Aims: This study investigates the relationship between religiosity and parental involvement, with self-esteem serving as a mediator. Results: A survey of 248 parents from SDN X in Krian District, Sidoarjo, analyzed using a mediation path model, revealed that religiosity had a significant direct relationship with parental involvement (z = 3.625, p < 0.001). Additionally, self-esteem significantly mediated this relationship (z = 2.324, p = 0.020). Novelty: The study demonstrates the psychological pathway by which religiosity translates into active parental participation through self-esteem, adding a new dimension to existing parenting models. Implications: Findings suggest that strengthening both religiosity and parental self-esteem may foster more consistent involvement in children’s education and care. Highlights: Religiosity directly predicts parental involvement. Self-esteem significantly mediates this relationship. Study introduces a psychological pathway in parenting research. Abstract

General background: Education serves as a foundation for character formation, and in Islamic schools, Akidah Akhlak teachers hold a strategic role in guiding students’ moral and academic development. Specific background: At the elementary level, fostering responsibility in learning is crucial, yet many students still struggle to demonstrate consistent discipline and accountability. Knowledge gap: Limited studies have comprehensively explored how Akidah Akhlak teachers practically shape students’ responsibility in daily learning contexts. Aims: This study aims to analyze the role, methods, and strategies of Akidah Akhlak teachers in cultivating learning responsibilities among grade IV students at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Waru Sidoarjo. Results: Using a qualitative descriptive approach through interviews, observations, and documentation, the findings show that teachers employed modeling, group discussions, independent tasks, and exemplary conduct, which effectively nurtured students’ responsibility in completing assignments, engaging actively in class, and adhering to school rules. Novelty: The study demonstrates that the integration of moral values in Akidah Akhlak instruction creates a sustainable character-building framework within elementary education. Implications: These findings emphasize the importance of teacher strategies in religious education to strengthen both academic responsibility and moral character for future societal contributions. Highlights: Akidah Akhlak teachers foster responsibility using diverse strategies. Moral values integration strengthens students’ learning discipline. Findings support character-based approaches in Islamic education. Keywords: Akidah Akhlak, Teacher’s Role, Learning Responsibility, Character Education, Elementary Students

Abstract

Background: Death anxiety is a psychological challenge frequently experienced by the elderly, often associated with feelings of helplessness and fear. Specific Background: Religiosity and social support are considered key protective factors that may reduce such anxiety. Knowledge Gap: Few studies have analyzed the combined role of religiosity and social support on death anxiety in elderly populations living in communal facilities. Aim: This study aims to examine the simultaneous and partial roles of religiosity and social support in reducing death anxiety among the elderly. Results: Multiple regression analysis on 100 respondents showed that religiosity and social support jointly explained 27.2% of the variance in death anxiety. Social support contributed the largest effective portion (14.8%), followed by religiosity (12.3%). Novelty: The study highlights the significance of combining religious engagement with social support interventions to address psychological distress in elderly groups. Implications: The findings suggest the need for integrated spiritual and social programs to promote emotional well-being and prepare the elderly for end-of-life acceptance. Highlights : Religiosity and social support reduce death anxiety Social support contributes more than religiosity Practical implications for elderly care programs Keyword: Religiosity, Social Support, Death Anxiety, Elderly, Psychology
