Abstract

General Background: Family planning remains a debated topic in Muslim societies, balancing between the Islamic emphasis on procreation and the obligation to preserve maternal health and family welfare. Specific Background: In Indonesia, the government promotes family planning through the National Population and Family Planning Agency, yet religious interpretations continue to shape societal acceptance. The Tafsir Ilmi Seksualitas dalam Perspektif Al-Qur’an dan Sains, an official state exegesis, offers a unique integration of Qur’anic principles and scientific reasoning. Knowledge Gap: Despite extensive discourse on family planning in Islamic law, few studies analyze its interpretation within Indonesia’s official government exegesis. Aims: This study investigates the concept of family planning in the state-sanctioned Scientific Exegesis of Sexuality in the Perspective of the Qur’an and Science to understand how it reconciles religious doctrine and modern scientific insights. Results: Findings reveal that the exegesis permits family planning as long as it prevents harm, drawing on verses such as Al-Baqarah (2:233) and An-Nisa (4:9) and acknowledging methods like ‘azl, condoms, IUDs, and hormonal contraceptives. Novelty: This study offers the first systematic analysis of family planning through Indonesia’s official Qur’anic interpretation. Implications: The results affirm that family planning aligns with Islamic principles of welfare (maslahah), providing theological legitimacy for national health policies. Highlights: Integrates Qur’anic teachings with modern science in state-sanctioned interpretation. Affirms permissibility of family planning for maternal and family welfare. Provides theological support for Indonesia’s national health policy. Keywords: Family Planning, Islamic Exegesis, Qur’anic Interpretation, Reproductive Health

Abstract

General Background: Divorce rates in Indonesia have shown a consistent increase, prompting the Supreme Court to issue various regulations aimed at maintaining marital harmony. Specific Background: One of these efforts is Supreme Court Circular Letter (SEMA) No. 3 of 2023, which introduces a six-month separation requirement before divorce can be granted in Religious Courts. Knowledge Gap: Despite its legal intent, limited empirical evidence exists on how this regulation affects divorce dynamics at the local court level. Aims: This study investigates the implementation of SEMA No. 3 of 2023 and its practical role in reducing divorce cases at the Sidoarjo Religious Court. Results: Findings reveal that while the policy initially reduced divorce numbers in 2023, the effect was temporary, with cases increasing again in subsequent years due to its non-binding nature. Novelty: The research offers a contextual empirical analysis of SEMA’s role within Indonesia’s Islamic judicial system. Implications: Strengthening the juridical framework and integrating social counseling mechanisms are crucial for ensuring the sustainability of family law reforms in Islamic courts.Highlights: SEMA functions as an internal legal guideline, not binding law. Its temporary effect underscores the need for legal reinforcement. Integration with counseling programs can enhance long-term outcomes. Abstract

General Background: Tax compliance remains a central concern in sustaining national fiscal stability and achieving revenue targets. Specific Background: In Indonesia, despite continuous reform and education efforts, voluntary tax compliance among individual taxpayers remains suboptimal, particularly within regional tax offices such as KPP Pratama Sidoarjo Utara. Knowledge Gap: Previous studies have not sufficiently integrated the behavioral dimensions of social norms and religiosity alongside tax education in explaining compliance variations. Aims: This study aims to examine how tax education, social norms, and religiosity collectively shape taxpayer compliance. Results: Using a quantitative method and multiple linear regression on data from 150 respondents, findings reveal that tax education and social norms significantly enhance compliance, while religiosity shows no statistical significance. Novelty: The study uniquely integrates the Theory of Planned Behavior with religious and sociocultural constructs to explain compliance patterns in an Indonesian context. Implications: Strengthening educational strategies and fostering positive social norms may serve as more effective tools for improving compliance than relying solely on moral-religious appeals. Highlights: Tax education and social norms significantly shape compliance behavior. Religiusity shows a non-significant relationship with compliance. Behavioral-based approaches outperform moral-based strategies in taxation. Keywords: Tax Education; Social Norms; Religiosity; Taxpayer Compliance; Behavioral Economics

Abstract

General background: Arabic language learning plays a vital role in Islamic education as it serves as the medium to understand religious sources and express Islamic values. Specific background: In Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), maharah kalam or speaking skill is developed not only through formal instruction but also through habitual and exemplary language practices. Knowledge gap: Previous studies focused mainly on direct teaching or structural approaches to Arabic speaking, while limited attention has been given to the effectiveness of exemplary language models in shaping communicative competence within a linguistic environment. Aims: This study aims to analyze the application of exemplary language practice in maharah kalam learning at the Darul Islam Modern Islamic Boarding School, including its supporting and inhibiting factors. Results: Findings show that consistent language role models, language-area implementation, daily mufrodat, and the supervision system (jasus) foster a living Arabic-speaking environment that strengthens students’ confidence and competence. Novelty: The study highlights the integration of exemplary modeling with disciplinary and motivational systems as a sustainable pedagogical model in Islamic language education. Implications: This approach can serve as a framework for designing Arabic speaking pedagogy grounded in moral exemplarity and linguistic immersion. Highlights: Exemplary practice fosters natural Arabic communication. Leadership and supervision sustain language discipline. Integration of moral and linguistic training enhances learning.
