Jurnal Oratio Directa (Prodi Ilmu Komunikasi) sebagai jurnal ilmu komunikasi FISIP Universitas Bung Karno memiliki peran sebagai pemberi pesan keilmuan secara langsung bagi masyarakat luas. Oratio Directa juga menerjemahkan semangat orasi dari Bung Karno yang selalu memihak kepada kebenaran. Pada konteks itu, maka Oratio Directa harus mampu memaparkan kebenaran secara lugas dan langsung memaparkan dengan koridor ilmu komunikasi. Jurnal Oratio Directa (Prodi Ilmu Komunikasi) menggunakan double-blind peer-review yang akan menjadi basis penilaian, sehingga JOD dapat menjadi wadah hasil penelitian atau riset atau diseminasi, serta menjadi sarana pertukaran karya ilmiah tentang komunikasi Indonesia di kalangan akademisi internasional, praktisi, regulator, dan masyarakat. JOD sangat tertarik dengan perkembangan gagasan atau isu-isu komunikasi secara keseluruhan, terdiri dari dua disiplin ilmu yang menonjol di bidang komunikasi. Secara spesifik, kajian komunikasi akan difokuskan pada bidang-bidang tertentu sebagai berikut: Komunikasi: Public Relations, Advertising, Broadcasting dan Jurnalistik, dan Ilmu Manajemen Komunikasi, konsep dan desain training komunikasi, bisnis media, komunikasi pemasaran dan penguasaan teknologi komunikasi, komunikasi pemasaran, manajemen media dan manajemen pelatihan konsultasi.

Abstract

Abstract Social media plays an important role in relation to political campaigns carried out by 2024 presidential candidates because some politicians use social media to interact with sympathizers and supporters. Anies Baswedan makes good use of the Instagram site to convey political messages through the media so that it is easy to build chemistry. This research aims to determine Anies Baswedan’s political campaign on Instagram by using content analysis, namely looking at (1) Anies Baswedan’s personality on Instagram (2) Anies Baswedan’s political key massage displayed on Instagram. This research uses a qualitative approach. The informants for this research were 145 uploads which constituted the total on Instagram @AniesBaswedan in January 2024. The instruments used in content analysis research are presented in the form of analyzing political campaigns consisting of campaign strategies, public interactions and visual symbols and messages the research results show that. The result of the research show that Anies Baswedan consistently conveys his campaign messages via media social and Desak Anies campaign is effective in influencing the face of modern democracy. Abstract

Abstract Friendship is one of the most valuable relationships for humans. Friendship in the study of intercultural communication can be interpreted as the relationship that exists between people who have different cultural backgrounds. Intercultural friendship can result in positive attitude changes, such as increased cultural understanding, acceptance, and self-reflection. For this reason, this study aims to describe and explain how the relationship of friendship in environmental lecturers at Karno University from the perspective of similarity attraction theory. The research technique used is qualitative descriptive. Data was collected through two instruments, there are: participatory observation and documentation of six participants. This study concludes that friendship relationships from the perspective of similarity attraction theory which explains that friendship relationships built by members of the lecturer friendship group at Karno University are based on values and beliefs, attitudes, cultural backgrounds, and interests, so that they complement each other despite differences in cultural backgrounds.Keywords: Friendship Relations, Intercultural Communication, Similarity Attraction.

Abstract

AbstractRhetoric is closely related to a person's ability to give a speech or speak in front of an audience. In the contestation of the 2017 DKI Jakarta Gubernatorial Election, candidates get a special opportunity, especially for candidates who are not favored to win the contestation such as Anies Rasyid Baswedan, who can attract sympathy and political support from the public through effective rhetoric skills. This study analyzes how Anies Rasyid Baswedan in the 2017 DKI Jakarta Regional Election contestation used Aristotle's rhetoric concept and invitation rhetoric in the Cagub-Cawagub debate organized by the DKI Jakarta KPUD so that he could come out as the winner of the Pilkada. This type of research uses a qualitative method with a rhetorical analysis approach. Data collection was carried out using digital trace documentation collection techniques obtained from video recordings on the CNN Indonesia youtube channel. The results showed that Anies Rasyid Baswedan effectively utilized Aristotle's rhetorical concepts in the aspects of ethos, pathos and logos to gain the support of Jakarta residents. Anies Baswedan in the debate successfully implemented an approach strategy to the audience by using the basic concepts of invitation rhetoric theory which emphasizes the principle of equality, attitude to universal values (immanent value) and attitude of self-determination. This succeeded in attracting sympathy and political support from DKI Jakarta residents to vote for him so that he could come out as the winner of the 2017 DKI Jakarta Pilkada.Keywords: Political Persuasion, Rhetoric Politics, Aristotle's Rhetoric, Invitation Rhetoric, Political Communication

Abstract

AbstractThis study reviews the use of anthropomorphic techniques in the animation industry. Through qualitative research techniques based on descriptive-interpretive analysis, phenomenological approach, and the theory of anthropomorphism from Wells and Parkinson, this study reveals that the use of anthropomorphized animals in animation series and digital feature films mostly retains the natural characteristics and behavior of animals; only the characteristics and behavior of animal characters are represented/visualized in human form. The products of the animation industry make an important contribution to the reformulation of imagination and the formation of a positive human self-image, as the appeal of the story content is related to actual issues of human life. The use of anthropomorphic principles in the animation industry is not only entertaining, but conveys messages and high moral values and creates an emotional bond between the audience and the characters. In fact, anthropomorphism is a key element that has brought high-value stories and moral messages to audiences in the current era of the entertainment industry. This study encourages animation producers and creative film products to continue creating entertainment industry content that is relevant to the increasingly complex demands of audiences.Keyword: Antropomorphism, self-image formulation, media industry, animated product

Abstract

Indonesia is known as one of the best tobacco producing countries in the world. Related to controlling tobacco products so that it benefits the community, there needs to be a clear arrangement from downstream to upstream. To find out whether the legal basis, efforts to protect health, social life, cultural customs and industrial interests. One of the obligations of the Government as a State is to ensure the legal basis governed by clear laws. As a democratic country, Indonesia divides power into three (trias politica); Executive, Legislative and Judiciary.Bearing in mind that there is always interaction between the executive and the legislature in every process of discussion, decision making and the ratification of a law. This is interesting because several laws are of concern to the wider community, due to the lengthy process. Being in the public spotlight, controversial policies, multiplier effects and minutes of meeting minutes that can be accessed by researchers, the groupthink theory in the Tobacco Draft Law is possible to be studied as dynamics in the decision making process from the perspective of communication science.Groupthink theory is defined as a method of consideration used by group members when their desire for agreement exceeds their motivation to assess all existing action plans.The qualitative method is based on the constructivism paradigm which holds that knowledge is not only the result of experience of facts, but also the result of the construction of the thought of the subject under study. Human recognition of social reality is centered on the subject and not on the object, this means that science is not the result of experience alone, but is also the result of construction by thought.Each member of the special committee is a party representative, they express their views according to the party's vision-mission and ideology. However, every policy has the opportunity to become a political commodity, so that the bill which is supposed to be urgent, becomes slow and never ends, because of the tug-of-war.Keywords: Tobacco Bill, Communication process, Groupthink

Abstract

 This study examines the speech of the Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), Puan Maharani, delivered at the annual session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Joint Session of the DPR and the Regional Representative Council (DPD) in 2024. The study analyses Puan Maharani’s speech text structure, social cognition, and social dimensions. This qualitative study uses the critical discourse analysis approach Teun A. van Dijk developed. The study concludes, first, in terms of text structure, the Speaker of the DPR, Puan Maharani, uses positive vocabulary, inclusive metaphors, and polarization to strengthen the image of the DPR institution. Second, regarding social cognition, the speech of the Speaker of the DPR, Puan Maharani, is influenced by a pro-status quo ideology, with cognitive representations that benefit the dominant group. Third, in terms of social context, the speech of the Speaker of the DPR, Puan Maharani, aims to maintain the legitimacy of the DPR within the power structure, especially in crucial political or economic situations.Keywords: Critical Discourse Analysis, Speech, Text Analysis, Social Cognition, Social Context.

Abstract

The phenomenon of corruption in the bureaucracy is like the tip of the iceberg. If it persists for a long time, it could threaten the survival of the nation. The economy will undoubtedly be disrupted, and development will inevitably be hampered. To reduce corruption in the bureaucracy, around December 2016, Jokowi launched the Mental Revolution program. The program's goals and targets are excellent: creating a clean and serving bureaucracy. The mindset and behavior of wanting to be served become a willingness to serve, from unproductive to productive, and from corrupt to non-corrupt. Corruption, which has given rise to rent-seeking behavior, has also occurred within the bureaucracy. Abstract

 Kick Andy is widely recognized as a television program that presents real-life inspirational stories from various segments of Indonesian society. Amidst the dominance of sensational entertainment media, Kick Andy offers content that promotes moral values and motivation. This study aims to analyze how Kick Andy serves as an unlimited source of inspiration for Indonesian youth in shaping character, encouraging creativity, and fostering social awareness. The research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were obtained from documentation of selected Kick Andy episodes, content observation, and relevant literature. Data collection techniques included content analysis and documentation. The findings indicate that through touching narratives, exemplary figures, and a humanistic approach, Kick Andy has a positive influence on character development and inspiring change among young people.  This study explores the spiritual, social, and moral significance of pilgrimages to the tombs of Islamic saints within the broader landscape of religious tradition. Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, the research uncovers that pilgrimages are not merely ritual acts but serve as deeply personal journeys akin to Hajj, Hijrah, and Rihlah. The findings reveal that pilgrimage fosters an elevation of religious consciousness, strengthens faith, and provides spiritual equilibrium amid the complexities of life. Furthermore, the act of ziarah facilitates silaturrahmi—a spiritual networking process that reinforces communal ties and moral values. Abstract

 This article discusses Corporate Communication Strategy in the People's Housing Savings Program (Descriptive Study at PT. CJ Logistics Service Indonesia). This research is motivated by the government's plan to implement a people's housing savings program (TAPERA) to all workers, especially private employees working in the Logistics and Transportation sectors. The purpose of this study is to provide a clear direction in the company's policy communication strategy related to the TAPERA policy communication strategy at PT. CJ Logistics Service Indonesia. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research method and in collecting, managing and analyzing data. The results of the author's research explain that the communication strategy implemented by PT. CJ Logistics Service Indonesia in the People's Housing Savings (TAPERA) program has a very important role in facilitating employee understanding and acceptance of this policy. The implementation of an effective communication strategy will greatly determine how well the TAPERA policy is accepted and understood by employees, and the extent to which this policy can have a positive impact on employee social welfare.
