Abstract

This creative final project was driven by the desire to translate the emotional depth and profound message of Gala Bunga Matahari, a song by Sal Priadi, into visual form through expressive photography. The song was chosen for its poetic lyricism, rich in symbolism, personal emotion, and inner narratives of loss, longing, and hope. The main objective of the project is to represent the emotional journey conveyed in the song through visual works that are both evocative and reflective. The creation process employed a qualitative approach using the phenomenological method, emphasizing the artist's subjective experience in responding to the song’s meaning. Charles S. Peirce’s semiotic theory served as the analytical foundation, focusing on three core elements: representamen, object, and interpretant, with the sunflower serving as the central symbol. Visual elements such as light, shadow, color, and composition were carefully selected to express emotions that are difficult to articulate verbally. Expressive photography was chosen as the medium due to its ability to convey emotion visually without relying on textual narration. The final work consists of 20 photographs printed on matte-laminated photo paper, functioning not only as a visual interpretation of the song but also as a medium for personal reflection and emotional healing for the creator. This project aspires to open new avenues for appreciating the intersection of music and photography as complementary forms of emotional communication.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education plays a vital role in shaping the religious character and personality of children from an early age, in line with Islamic teachings that encompass all aspects of life. This study aims to examine the urgency of Islamic Religious Education, particularly within non-formal educational institutions such as Madrasah Diniyah (Madin) Al–Muttaqiin in Gedangsari, Gunungkidul, which holds a strategic role in instilling religious values in children. The research employed a qualitative field approach, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that students’ learning interest is a key factor in the effectiveness of religious education. The educational process structured around learning categories, instructional objectives, and learning elements grounded in the Qur’an as the primary source of Islamic teachings serves as a crucial foundation for developing religious values. Early childhood is regarded as the most strategic phase for instilling such values; therefore, the learning approach must be gentle, enjoyable, and nurturing. The study concludes that synergy among formal education, non-formal institutions, and families is essential to successfully cultivating a generation that is faithful, knowledgeable, and morally upright.

Abstract

West Sumatra is a region rich in natural, cultural, and religious tourism potential, distributed across various regencies and cities. One area with significant yet underdeveloped tourism potential is Maligi Village, located in Sasak Ranah Pasisia District, West Pasaman Regency. Since its designation as a tourism village by the Regent's Decree in 2019, the destination has been managed by the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) under the initiative of the Maligi Tourism Care Movement (GERMALISTA). The village’s main attraction is Pantai Maligi, renowned for its distinctive western Sumatra coastal landscape. However, tourism promotion efforts remain limited, particularly in terms of digital information updates and the quality of available visual media. Existing promotional videos do not yet meet cinematographic standards capable of effectively capturing tourist interest. This study aims to design a tourism promotional video that is both communicative and engaging, showcasing not only the natural beauty of Pantai Maligi but also highlighting local culture, such as traditional pedati transportation and the preparation of signature cuisine like rendang tiram. The resulting video is expected to strengthen local identity and enhance the competitiveness of the destination at both regional and national levels.

Abstract

The moral challenges faced by adolescents in the era of globalization and modernization are increasingly complex, marked by tendencies toward hedonism, deviant behavior, verbal aggression, and identity crises. These issues are exacerbated by the lack of internalization of religious values in daily life. This article aims to examine the Islamic worldview as a foundational framework for fostering moral awareness and behavior in adolescents based on Islamic teachings. The study adopts a descriptive qualitative approach through a literature review, analyzing scholarly sources from various relevant academic references. The findings indicate that the Islamic worldview offers a holistic and transcendental moral framework capable of guiding adolescents toward ethical, responsible behavior aligned with Islamic principles. This worldview emphasizes the interconnectedness of spiritual, social, and individual aspects of life, thereby shaping a well-rounded Islamic character. Strengthening the Islamic worldview requires synergy among families, educational institutions, and social media platforms that convey positive values. The article recommends the implementation of a comprehensive and continuous educational model to develop a morally resilient and spiritually strong Muslim youth capable of navigating contemporary challenges.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of character education (adab) at MTs Al Kahfi Surakarta and analyze the roles of teachers and the school environment in shaping students’ character comprehensively. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that character education is integrated into the curriculum through subjects such as Akidah Akhlak and is implemented through daily practices within the school environment. Teachers serve as role models and mentors using a holistic approach, while the school environment fosters an atmosphere conducive to the development of refined character. Nevertheless, challenges remain, including inconsistent application of adab values by students outside of school and the negative influence of social media. The study recommends the development of a continuous character education curriculum and the strengthening of collaboration between schools and families to support the character-building process. Overall, the implementation of character education at MTs Al Kahfi Surakarta is considered effective and positively impacts students' character development.

Abstract

This article discusses the definition of hadith, its classification, and its role in elucidating the Qur’an as the primary source of Islamic teachings. Hadith encompasses everything attributed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), including his sayings (qauli), actions (fi’li), and approvals (taqrir), and holds the position of the second principal source of Islamic teachings after the Qur’an. The classification of hadith is crucial for helping Muslims evaluate its authenticity, understand its context, and distinguish between various types. Fundamentally, hadith functions as an explanation and elaboration of Qur’anic verses, providing legal boundaries, rulings, and practical guidance not explicitly stated in the text of the Qur’an. Moreover, hadith serves as a primary reference for applying Islamic teachings in daily life, encompassing both worship (ibadah) and social interactions (muamalah). Thus, the existence of hadith is essential to ensuring the proper implementation of Islamic law in accordance with the guidance of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as the conveyor of divine revelation.

Abstract

Land cover change is a key factor influencing land surface temperature (LST) dynamics, particularly in coastal urban areas such as Pariaman City. This study aims to: (1) analyze land cover changes in Pariaman City in 2016 and 2023; (2) examine the spatial distribution of LST in both periods; and (3) evaluate the impact of land cover change on LST. A quantitative descriptive method was employed, using a supervised classification approach for land cover mapping, the Mono-Window Brightness Temperature model for LST estimation, and Pearson’s correlation and regression analyses to assess their relationship. The results indicate substantial land cover changes, with a forest area reduction of 26.162 km² and an increase in residential and agricultural land by 16.444 km² and 12.373 km², respectively. In 2016, LST distribution was dominated by the moderate class (20–24 °C), whereas in 2023 it exhibited greater variability, with an expansion of both low-temperature classes (<17 °C and 17–20 °C) and high-temperature classes (24–29 °C). Pearson’s correlation yielded r = −0.523, indicating that forest cover loss correlates with LST increase. Regression analysis suggests that each 1 km² increase in forest cover is associated with a 0.028 °C decrease in LST. These findings underscore the critical role of land cover management in mitigating urban warming.

Abstract

Forest fragmentation poses a significant threat to ecosystem sustainability, particularly in buffer zones that function to protect the core of conservation habitats. This study aims to analyze forest fragmentation changes in the Buffer Zone of the Maninjau Nature Reserve during the period 2006–2024 and to identify their driving factors. Landsat TM 5 and OLI 8 satellite imagery were processed using the Random Forest method on Google Earth Engine. Fragmentation analysis was conducted through landscape indices (Landscape Shape Index [LSI], Number of Patches [NP], Patch Density [PD], Edge Density [ED]) using the landscapemetrics packages in R Studio and Fragmentation using GIS Tools v2 in ArcGIS. Driving factors were examined within the Driving forces–Pressures–State–Impacts–Responses (DPSIR) framework, focusing on population growth and agricultural land expansion. The results reveal a significant decline in LSI, NP, PD, and ED values in edge areas, indicating habitat loss and the subdivision of forests into smaller patches. The reduction in large core areas in mountainous regions reflects consistent agricultural expansion over the years. Fragmentation transition analysis confirms the continuous loss of forest cover, particularly in edge zones. Key driving factors include population growth, which increases the demand for residential land, and extensive agricultural expansion, particularly oil palm plantations that converts forests into degraded lands. These findings highlight the importance of integrated landscape management to reduce deforestation and maintain the ecological functions of buffer zones.

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology necessitates learning innovations in vocational high schools (SMK) to help students understand subject matter more effectively. Observations in Class XI TAV at SMKN 5 Padang revealed that instruction remains dominated by conventional methods, causing students to experience difficulties in learning, particularly with technical materials. This study aims to design and develop an interactive learning medium based on Smart Apps Creator for the subject of Programming and Microcontroller Applications. The method employed was Research and Development (R&D) using the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The final product was an offline interactive learning application. Validation results indicated total scores of 0.846 from subject matter experts and 0.929 from media experts, both falling into the high-validity category. A practicality test involving 15 students yielded a percentage of 91.33% (highly practical). These findings confirm that the developed learning medium possesses high validity and practicality, making it feasible for implementation as a digital tool to enhance students’ understanding and engagement.

Abstract

Beginner makeup artists (MUAs) from beauty and cosmetology programs are expected to implement effective promotional strategies through social media, although its utilization is often suboptimal. This study aims to analyze the promotional strategies of beginner MUAs on social media, focusing on the promotion mix (advertising), the effectiveness of Instagram, and the use of WhatsApp. A quantitative survey method was applied to 75 respondents who had previously used MUA services, with data collected through a questionnaire tested for validity and reliability. The results indicate that advertising-based promotional strategies are considered moderately effective, with Instagram emerging as the most dominant and effective platform due to its feed, story, reels, and caption features that support visual promotion. Meanwhile, WhatsApp is predominantly used for personal communication and remains underutilized for visual promotion. The study concludes that beginner MUAs’ promotional strategies on social media have been reasonably successful, particularly through Instagram, and recommends enhancing creativity and consistency in social media use, alongside optimizing WhatsApp to support comprehensive service promotion.
