Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms of motifs, motif names, and techniques involved in the creation of sulaman benang lame (lame thread embroidery) on tabia pelaminan in Naras Hilir, Pariaman. Sulaman benang lame is a traditional Minangkabau textile craft with high aesthetic value, serving as a central decorative element in traditional wedding platforms. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews with local artisans, and visual documentation of the production process. The findings reveal that the embroidery motifs are predominantly floral, including jasmine flowers, leaves, and pucuk rebung (bamboo shoots), alongside geometric patterns such as lines and triangles. Faunal motifs, such as peacocks, are used only upon request. The embroidery technique has evolved from hand embroidery to machine embroidery, while still maintaining traditional values and local aesthetics. The production process includes designing the motif, applying lame material onto satin fabric, stitching using an embroidery machine, and cutting the outer edges of the motif to emphasize the final form. The study concludes that sulaman benang lame on tabia pelaminan represents a cultural heritage that must be preserved as a visual identity of the Minangkabau people amid the challenges of modernization.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the role of Islamic educational philosophy in shaping the learning system and practices at MI Miftahul Huda Bonangrejo through ontological, epistemological, and axiological approaches. The main focus is on how understandings of the nature of reality (ontology), the sources and processes of knowledge (epistemology), and values and life purposes (axiology) are internalized within the madrasah’s curriculum, teaching strategies, and institutional culture. The study employs a qualitative method, with data collected through in-depth interviews with the head of the madrasah and teachers, participatory classroom observations, and curriculum document analysis. The findings reveal that the ontological dimension is reflected in the recognition of God, human beings, and nature as interconnected creations within the learning system. The epistemological aspect is evident in the integration of revelation and reason as sources of knowledge, embedded in instructional content and dialogical, reflective teaching methods. Meanwhile, the axiological aspect is implemented through values such as honesty, responsibility, and spirituality, which are cultivated in students’ daily lives. The study concludes that the philosophical foundations of Islam are not only relevant but also applicable in shaping the character and intellectual development of students in Islamic primary education. The implications highlight the importance of strengthening philosophical dimensions in curriculum development and educational culture within madrasahs.

Abstract

This article examines the integration of Islamic educational philosophy into the teaching practices at Al Irsyad Tengaran Islamic Boarding School, focusing on the application of its ontological, epistemological, and axiological dimensions as the foundation for a holistic educational system. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, using in-depth interviews with key educators. The findings reveal that Al Irsyad Tengaran implements an educational approach that is not only conceptual but also fully integrated into the curriculum and instructional strategies. The epistemological aspect is reflected in dialogical and reflective approaches to teaching ʿaqīdah-akhlāq, as explained by Ustadz Ahmad Nur Hayun, S.Pd.I. The axiological dimension is embodied in tahfizh activities aimed at internalizing core values, as noted by Ustadz Abdullah Tholib, S.Pd.I. The ontological aspect is demonstrated through the integration of religious and scientific knowledge, as practiced by Ustadz Zaenal Arifin, Lc. This approach aligns with the pesantren's vision to cultivate students who are knowledgeable, ethical, and capable of contributing to the global community. Structural support in the form of educational levels from SDITQ to MA further strengthens the institution’s commitment to producing competent and principled graduates. The study concludes that Islamic educational philosophy is essential as a foundational framework for building a comprehensive and sustainable pesantren education system.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the transformation of the Ngimbo Nineak ritual into the Ngimbo Nineak dance in Sungai Penuh City. A qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method was used, focusing on the original ritual and the dance form developed from this tradition. Data were collected through literature review, observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed through the stages of data collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that Ngimbo Nineak was originally a ritual performed by specific lineages with spiritual connections to their ancestors, particularly involving esoteric knowledge. The transformation into a dance was carried out by preserving the core meaning of the ritual while presenting it in a more communicative and publicly accessible performance art form. The Ngimbo Nineak dance represents the core activities of the ritual through elements such as storyline, symbolic movements, performers (dancers), accompanying music, costumes, properties, stage setup, and floor patterns. The study concludes that transforming the ritual into a dance is an adaptive form of cultural preservation that maintains the spiritual and symbolic values of the original tradition. Its implication is that the Ngimbo Nineak dance serves as a vital medium for sustaining cultural heritage and introducing it to younger generations within the framework of modern performing arts. Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of Imam Al-Ghazali’s moral education methods in shaping and enhancing positive student behavior at MTsS Pesantren Darul Ulum Tigo Jangko, Lintau Buo. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews with teachers and students, observations of learning activities, and documentation. The findings indicate that Al-Ghazali’s methods, comprising habituation, role modeling, advice (mau‘izhah), self-monitoring (muraqabah), and introspection (muhasabah) are systematically applied in both classroom learning and daily life within the pesantren environment. The implementation of these methods positively contributes to students’ character formation, particularly in terms of discipline, responsibility, honesty, and politeness. The success of this implementation is supported by the active role of educators as role models, a supportive pesantren environment, and continuous moral guidance. The study concludes that Al-Ghazali’s principles of moral education are highly relevant for application in contemporary Islamic education systems as an effective strategy for nurturing morally and spiritually outstanding generations.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the stress coping strategies employed by 2020 Psychology students at Universitas Negeri Padang in managing academic pressure during thesis writing. Academic workload, time constraints, and interpersonal challenges, such as difficulties in communication with supervisors and social expectations are identified as significant stressors. Coping strategies are considered vital mechanisms for managing these pressures. The study is grounded in Lazarus and Folkman's (1984) coping theory, which categorizes strategies into two main types: problem-focused coping and emotion-focused coping. A qualitative approach was employed, using a questionnaire instrument based on Lazarus and Folkman's coping dimensions. The research involved 30 active students currently working on their theses. The results indicate that the majority of respondents predominantly used problem-focused coping strategies, such as creating schedules, seeking additional information, consulting with supervisors, and forming study groups. In contrast, emotion-focused coping strategies, such as praying, withdrawing, or distraction were used less frequently. The study concludes that the transactional model of stress and coping remains highly relevant in the context of higher education and emphasizes the need for psychological and academic support programs to help students adaptively manage stress throughout the thesis-writing process.

Abstract

This study aims to explore design innovation in Nail Art using sesame seeds through a three-dimensional (3D) applique technique as a creative medium for nail decoration. The method used is experimental with a descriptive quantitative approach. Six designs were developed based on three main themes: flora, fauna, and abstract, utilizing natural sesame seeds, food coloring, and nail polish. The designs were evaluated by seven panelists using four creativity indicators: fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. The results show an average creativity score of 3.73, categorized as “highly creative,” with the highest score found in the fluency indicator at 3.80. These findings demonstrate that sesame seeds can serve as an innovative, aesthetic, and eco-friendly material in nail art. The study concludes that natural material-based innovation, such as the use of sesame seeds, has the potential to enrich Nail Art design development and contribute to enhancing creativity in beauty education. The implications suggest opportunities for utilizing local materials in sustainable and educational aesthetics industries.

Abstract

Education plays a strategic role in shaping the character of the younger generation as a foundation for national progress, particularly through the cultivation of religious character, which is among the 18 core character values outlined by the Ministry of National Education. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Full Day School (FDS) semi-pesantren education model in developing students’ religious character at SMP Muhammadiyah Program Khusus Bayat, Klaten. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the Islamic-based FDS model is effective in fostering students’ religious character through the integration of religious programs such as congregational prayer, dzikir, murajaah, and the habituation of other virtuous practices. Challenges include varying levels of student discipline; however, overall, the model successfully promotes the development of academically competent students with noble character and spiritual integrity. These findings suggest that the semi-pesantren FDS model offers a strategic alternative to address the moral crisis among youth and supports the achievement of national education goals.

Abstract

The low oral reading fluency skills among second-grade students at SDN 20 Berok Gunung Pangilun, Padang City. Initial observations revealed that most students read haltingly, neglected punctuation, and struggled with unfamiliar vocabulary; only 9 out of 24 students met the minimum mastery criteria. This study aims to improve oral reading fluency skills through the implementation of the Oral Reading Fluency (ORF) model. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) with both qualitative and quantitative approaches, conducted in two cycles. The subjects included the classroom teacher as observer, the researcher as practitioner, and 24 students as research participants. Data were collected through observation, tests, and interviews. The findings indicate significant improvements in three key areas: lesson planning increased from 83.3% to 91.6%; teacher activity from 85.65% to 92.8%; and student activity from 67.85% to 82.1%. The average score for reading skills rose from 65.75 to 85.5, while the fluent reading evaluation score increased from 58.95 to 82.6. The combined average for oral reading fluency skills reached 84.05. These results demonstrate that the ORF model is effective in enhancing oral reading fluency among second-grade students and can serve as an alternative instructional strategy to improve basic literacy skills in elementary education.
