Abstract

The modern era, marked by globalization, the development of digital technology, and the intensity of cultural exchange, has influenced the construction of Islamic identity among Muslim communities, particularly through the emergence of value relativism, identity crises, and the weakening internalization of Islamic values among some Muslim generations. This study aims to analyze the strategic role of the Islamic worldview in strengthening Islamic identity in the modern era. This study employed a qualitative approach using the library research method. Data were obtained from scholarly literature, international journal articles, academic books, and relevant documents discussing the concepts of the Islamic worldview and Islamic identity. The data were analyzed using content analysis techniques and critical interpretation of various scholarly sources. The findings show that the Islamic worldview functions as a conceptual foundation in shaping Muslims’ perspectives on God, human beings, knowledge, morality, and social life. Strengthening Islamic identity can be realized through the integration of tawhid values in education, the enhancement of digital-based Islamic literacy, the revitalization of Islamic intellectual culture, character development based on morality, and the development of critical awareness of the influence of global culture. The conclusion of this study affirms that the Islamic worldview has a strategic role in building an Islamic identity that is strong, adaptive, and relevant to the dynamics of modern society. The implications of this study provide a theoretical contribution to the development of Islamic educational thought and serve as a practical reference for educational institutions, families, and society in strengthening the Islamic identity of Muslim generations in the contemporary era.

Abstract

The crisis of religious identity, moral relativism, the secularization of knowledge, and the degradation of human values have become serious challenges to the sustainability of Islamic civilization in the modern era. This condition demonstrates the importance of an epistemological framework capable of integrating the dimensions of faith, morality, knowledge, and civilizational development holistically. This study aims to analyze the urgency of the Islamic worldview as a paradigm for strengthening faith, shaping morality, and serving as the foundation for the development of Islamic civilization. This study employed a qualitative approach using the library research method. Data were obtained from primary and secondary literature discussing the Islamic worldview, Islamic educational philosophy, Islamic epistemology, and the thought of contemporary Muslim scholars. The data were analyzed descriptively and analytically through critical interpretation of various scholarly sources. The findings show that the Islamic worldview has a strategic function as an ontological, epistemological, and axiological foundation that integrates revelation, reason, and empirical experience in developing a Muslim’s worldview. This paradigm strengthens faith through the internalization of tawhid, shapes morality based on the values of the Qur’an and Sunnah, and encourages the emergence of an Islamic civilization oriented toward knowledge, justice, public benefit, and social responsibility. These findings also affirm that the Islamic worldview serves as a conceptual framework for addressing secularization, materialism, and the global ethical crisis. The conclusion of this study indicates that the Islamic worldview is an essential intellectual and spiritual foundation for strengthening Islamic identity, character formation, and the revitalization of Islamic civilization in the contemporary era. The implications of this study provide a theoretical contribution to the development of Islamic educational thought and a practical reference for curriculum development, academic research, and Islamic education policy in shaping a Muslim generation that is faithful, morally upright, knowledgeable, and contributive to the development of a sustainable civilization.

Abstract

The secularization of modern science has produced a dichotomy between science and religion, resulting in the reduction of metaphysical, ethical, and spiritual dimensions in the development of knowledge. This condition demonstrates the need for an epistemological paradigm capable of integrating revelation, reason, and empirical experience proportionally. This study aims to analyze the concept of the Islamic worldview as a critique of the secularization of modern science and to explain its relevance in developing an integrative scientific paradigm. This study employed a qualitative approach using the library research method. Data were obtained from the Qur’an, hadith, the works of contemporary Muslim thinkers, reputable scholarly articles, and academic literature related to the philosophy of science, Islamic epistemology, and secularization. The data were analyzed using content analysis techniques and critical analysis of various emerging scientific perspectives. The findings show that the Islamic worldview offers a scientific paradigm based on the principles of tawhid, the integration of revelation and reason, the unity of reality, and moral responsibility in scientific activities. This paradigm critiques secular assumptions that separate religion from science and affirms that knowledge functions not only as a rational-empirical instrument but also as a means to realize human welfare and devotion to Allah. The conclusion of this study indicates that the Islamic worldview makes a significant contribution to reconstructing the epistemology of modern science toward a system of knowledge that is holistic, ethical, and transcendental. The implications of this study provide a conceptual foundation for the development of higher education, scientific research, and academic policy based on the integration of knowledge with Islamic values.

Abstract

The development of globalization, digitalization, and secularization presents complex challenges to the formation of contemporary Muslim identity and personality, particularly through shifts in value orientation, crises of meaning, moral relativism, and the penetration of global culture. This study aims to analyze the role of the Islamic worldview in shaping contemporary Muslim identity and personality based on the perspectives of Islamic philosophy and education. This study used a qualitative approach with a library research method. Data were collected through a critical review of the Qur’an, hadith, classical literature, and reputable scientific publications discussing the Islamic worldview, Muslim identity, Islamic education, and the development of modern society. The data were analyzed using content analysis techniques with a descriptive-analytical approach and conceptual synthesis. The results show that the Islamic worldview functions as an epistemological, ontological, and axiological paradigm that shapes Muslims’ ways of thinking, belief systems, moral orientation, and social behavior. The integration of the values of tawhid, trustworthiness, justice, ihsan, and responsibility forms a strong Islamic identity, a personality that is adaptive to change, and the ability to filter the influence of global culture without losing the principles of sharia. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that strengthening the Islamic worldview has a strategic role in building Muslim character that is characterized by integrity, moderation, productivity, and competitiveness in the contemporary era. The implications of this study provide a conceptual foundation for the development of Islamic education curricula, character formation, and the formulation of educational policies oriented toward strengthening Islamic identity amid global dynamics.
