Abstract

Coal quality testing is important to determine fuel characteristics before use for industrial purposes. This study aims to analyze the values of Moisture in Analysis, Volatile Matter, and total sulfur content in coal samples through laboratory practice at PT SUCOFINDO Padang Branch. This study used a quantitative descriptive approach with a laboratory practice method. Data were collected through duplicate testing of coal samples using an oven, VM furnace, sulfur furnace, analytical balance, desiccator, aluminum crucible, Volatile Matter crucible, and sulfur crucible. The results showed that the Moisture in Analysis values in the coal samples were 27% and 22%, with an average of 24.5%. The Volatile Matter values obtained were 81% and 66%, with an average of 73.5%. Meanwhile, the results of total sulfur content analysis showed the same value in the two replications, namely 1.67%. These findings indicate that the coal samples had relatively high moisture and volatile matter contents, as well as sulfur content that needs attention because it may affect combustion efficiency, industrial equipment, and the environment. The conclusion of this study confirms that proximate analysis and sulfur content testing play an important role as a basis for assessing coal quality in industrial laboratories. The practical contribution of this study lies in strengthening understanding of coal quality testing procedures that are relevant to supporting the evaluation of industrial fuel quality.

Abstract

Quality control of palm oil derivative products is an important aspect to ensure that the quality of RBDPOL and RBDPS complies with industry standards. This study aims to determine the Iodine Value, Cloud Point, Melting Point, and Free Fatty Acid (FFA) values of RBDPOL and RBDPS products at PT Wilmar Nabati Indonesia Teluk Bayur Padang Unit. This study used a quantitative descriptive approach with a laboratory practice method. The research samples consisted of RBDPOL IV-56, RBDPOL IV-58, and RBDPS taken directly from production points using jar bottles. Data were collected through laboratory testing, observation, and focused discussions with mentors and the Head of Quality Control. The results showed that RBDPOL IV-56 met PORAM standards for all parameters tested, with an Iodine Value of 56.25–56.91 I₂/100 g, a Cloud Point of 9.6–9.8°C, and a Melting Point of 21.2–21.8°C. RBDPOL IV-58 mostly met the standards, although some Iodine Value and Cloud Point values did not meet the standards at the initial stage of testing. Meanwhile, RBDPS showed Melting Point values that met the standards, whereas several Iodine Value values in the initial period were still below the standards. These findings confirm that laboratory analysis plays an important role in quality control of CPO processed products. The practical contribution of this study lies in strengthening applied understanding of the implementation of chemical analysis in quality control processes in the palm oil industry.

Abstract

Adolescent education plays an important role in shaping character and personality in accordance with Islamic values, especially in facing the challenges of modern life. This study aims to explore the values of adolescent education contained in Surah Yusuf and Surah Al-Kahf and to identify their relevance to the dynamics of contemporary adolescent life. This study used a thematic (maudhū‘ī) approach through the steps of tafsir analysis to understand relevant verses, supported by library research from classical and contemporary tafsir. The results showed that Surah Yusuf contains educational values concerning patience, firmness of faith, and self-control in facing temptation. Meanwhile, Surah Al-Kahf emphasizes the importance of piety, wisdom, and good friendship as moral safeguards for adolescents. These findings confirm that adolescent education from the perspective of the Qur’an, as reflected in Surah Yusuf and Surah Al-Kahf, has strong relevance in shaping individuals with noble character who are able to face the dynamics of life. The contribution of this study lies in strengthening the concept of Islamic values-based adolescent education through thematic tafsir studies.

Abstract

Although the issue of poverty in literary works has received attention in several previous studies, studies that specifically discuss the forms, causes, and impacts of poverty in the novel Dekat dan Nyaring by Sabda Armandio Alif remain limited. This study aimed to describe and analyze the representation of poverty in the novel Dekat dan Nyaring, particularly in relation to the forms of poverty, causal factors, and their impacts on the lives of the characters. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive method and a literary study design based on the sociology of literature. The research data consisted of words, phrases, sentences, dialogues, narratives, and events that represent poverty in the novel Dekat dan Nyaring, published by Penerbit baNANA in 2019 with a total of 110 pages. Data were collected through close reading, marking relevant parts of the text, recording quotations, and classifying data based on the categories of forms, causes, and impacts of poverty. The main research instrument was the researcher, while the supporting instruments consisted of recording sheets and data classification tables. Data were analyzed descriptively and qualitatively through the stages of identification, classification, analysis, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the representation of poverty in the novel includes three main forms, namely absolute poverty, relative poverty, and structural poverty. The causal factors of poverty include natural and artificial factors, while its impacts are evident in legal, moral, and social aspects. This finding contributes to the development of sociology of literature studies by expanding the understanding of poverty as a multidimensional issue in contemporary Indonesian literature. Thus, the novel Dekat dan Nyaring can be read as a sociocultural document that reflects inequality, eviction, and the struggle of the urban poor, while also opening opportunities for further research on urban poverty, living space, and social injustice in Indonesian novels.

Abstract

The beauty of language style in the Qur’an is one of the important aspects of balaghah studies, particularly through the use of thibaq, or semantic opposition, which strengthens the message of the verses. This study aims to reveal the beauty of the thibaq style found in Surah Al-Lail. This study used a qualitative approach with a library research design. The research data were collected from the verses of Surah Al-Lail and analyzed using the theory of ‘Ilm al-Badi’ as one branch of balaghah. The results show that there are several forms of thibaq in Surah Al-Lail, both those that bring together two nouns, such as night and day as well as male and female, and two concepts of human behavior, such as giving charity and being miserly as well as ease and hardship. The use of the thibaq style in this surah functions not only as an aesthetic ornament in the language structure but also as a means of emphasizing meaning that helps readers understand and reflect on two contrasting life choices and their consequences in the hereafter. This study affirms that the analysis of thibaq in Surah Al-Lail can broaden understanding of the rhetorical beauty of the Qur’an and strengthen the study of ‘Ilm al-Badi’ in linguistic and Islamic studies.

Abstract

The development of social media has made Instagram one of the main spaces for disseminating digital news, including through the Detikcom Instagram account. This study aims to analyze the effect of news accuracy on the Detikcom Instagram account on the trust of undergraduate Journalism students at the University of Bengkulu. This study used a quantitative approach with a survey design. The research respondents consisted of 23 students selected through purposive sampling based on the criteria of being active undergraduate Journalism students at the University of Bengkulu, having an Instagram account, and having accessed news from the Detikcom Instagram account. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire consisting of 15 statement items. Data were analyzed through validity testing, reliability testing, inter-item correlation, and descriptive analysis. The results show that all items had Corrected Item-Total Correlation values above 0.300, ranging from 0.325 to 0.762. The Cronbach’s Alpha if Item Deleted values ranged from 0.874 to 0.893, indicating that the research instrument was reliable. This finding confirms that news accuracy is an important aspect in building students’ trust in digital media. This study contributes to the development of digital journalism studies, particularly regarding the relationship between information quality and young audiences’ trust in news on social media. The implications of this study open opportunities for further research with a more comprehensive analytical model to examine the effect of news accuracy on digital media users’ trust.

Abstract

The development of online media encourages the use of news headlines that attract readers’ attention, including clickbait headlines. This practice has the potential to influence readers’ perceptions of news credibility because the headline is the first element assessed before the news content is read. This study aims to analyze the effect of clickbait headlines on perceptions of online news credibility among university students. This study used a quantitative approach with an explanatory survey design. The research respondents consisted of 20 students selected through purposive sampling with the criterion of having accessed or read online news. Data were collected using a closed-ended Likert-scale questionnaire consisting of 16 statement items. The research instrument was declared valid, with validity values ranging from 0.842 to 0.960, and reliable, with a Cronbach’s Alpha value of 0.983. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The results show that clickbait headlines have a significant effect on perceptions of online news credibility, with a significance value of 0.000, a correlation coefficient of 0.962, and a coefficient of determination of 0.925. This finding confirms that news headlines play an important role in shaping perceptions of digital media credibility. The conclusion of this study indicates that the use of clickbait headlines needs to be managed ethically so that they remain attractive, accurate, relevant, and in accordance with the principles of digital journalism. The implications of this study provide a practical basis for online media managers in composing news headlines that can attract readers’ attention without reducing information credibility.

Abstract

The development of digital media has changed students’ patterns of obtaining information, particularly through online news portals such as Kompas.com. This study aims to analyze the effect of online news consumption on the level of students’ trust in mass media. This study used a quantitative approach with an explanatory survey design. The research respondents consisted of 20 students selected through purposive sampling based on the criterion of having accessed or read news through Kompas.com. Data were collected using a closed-ended Likert-scale questionnaire consisting of 16 statement items, namely eight items for the online news consumption variable and eight items for the student trust level variable. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, validity testing, reliability testing, and simple linear regression. The results show that online news consumption has a positive and significant effect on the level of students’ trust in mass media, with a regression coefficient of 0.797 and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. The coefficient of determination value of 0.954 indicates that online news consumption explains 95.4% of the variation in students’ level of trust. This finding confirms that online news consumption plays an important role in shaping students’ trust in mass media. The implications of this study provide a basis for digital media managers to improve the quality of news presentation that is credible, informative, and relevant to student readers.
