Abstract

Changing a person’s thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors is one of the primary goals of communication. The concept involves intellectual aspects, including beliefs, thoughts, and ideas; while attitudes and behaviors are associated with physical factors, including emotions. Persuasive communication is defined as the ability to touch the heart, evoke shared emotions, and foster liking and acceptance of the conveyed ideas. It is essential to communicate objectives clearly in persuasive communication. Communicators face diverse goals and must pay attention to demographic, occupational, ethnic, social, and other contextual factors. This study employed a qualitative research method, with data collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The data were analyzed using qualitative data analysis techniques. The research findings show that: 1) Persuasive communication is implemented following the AIDDA (Attention, Interest, Desire, Decision, Action) approach. The school has become one of the key instruments in preventing acts of student delinquency. Attention is achieved by providing emotional engagement; Interest is developed through personal approaches that encourage students to participate in positive activities; Desire is fostered by providing positive motivation; Decision involves appointing teachers and students who demonstrate positive behavior as role models, sharing exemplary stories of national heroes and leaders, and organizing mentoring programs by religious scholars and local police to instill positive values that influence students’ decision-making; and Action includes conducting home visits, providing special guidance, and implementing disciplinary measures; 2) The impact includes the school’s use of social and print media as anti-bullying tools by disseminating information about the negative effects of bullying and forming Roots as agents of change within the school. This initiative has fostered a more harmonious school environment, supported by continuous evaluations conducted weekly, monthly, and every semester. As a result, students have become better at managing their emotions, and there have been notable improvements in their attitudes and behaviors, along with a decreasing trend in bullying incidents.

Abstract

The National Digital Literacy Movement (GNLD) is one of Indonesia’s strategic initiatives to strengthen citizens’ capacity in facing digital era challenges. Digital literacy encompasses not only technical skills but also ethics, safety, digital culture, and critical thinking in managing information. This study aims to analyze GNLD implementation from the perspectives of development communication and multi-stakeholder collaboration, focusing on the Bangka Belitung Islands Province (Bangka Belitung), which ranked second nationally in Indonesia’s Digital Society Index (IMDI) 2025 with a score of 52.15. Using a literature review approach, this research examines the roles of government, local communities, media, and educational institutions in promoting inclusive and sustainable digital literacy development. The findings reveal that Bangka Belitung’s success is rooted in participatory development communication, strong inter-stakeholder synergy, and effective public policies that enhance citizens’ digital awareness and competence. Moreover, multi-stakeholder collaboration has been a key factor in accelerating digital transformation across the archipelago region. This study provides theoretical contributions to development communication discourse and practical insights for digital literacy policy implementation in other regions of Indonesia.

Abstract

Public speaking is a strategic communication skill in supporting the effectiveness of da'wah. From a contemporary perspective, da'wah is no longer merely understood as conveying normative messages, but also as a means of empowering the community. This article aims to analyze the relevance of transformative public speaking as a da'wah medium that is not only informative, but also participatory and drives social change. The research method used is a literature study with a descriptive-analytical approach. The results of the study indicate that transformative public speaking is able to integrate aspects of ethos, pathos, and logos in da'wah communication so that da'i can build credibility, engage the audience's emotions, and convey logical arguments that encourage critical awareness. Da'wah based on transformative public speaking has implications for increasing the spiritual, intellectual, and social capacity of the community. These findings emphasize that da'wah in the digital era needs to be oriented towards strengthening the capacity of the community through transformative public speaking skills.

Abstract

Local identities and global symbols have been strengthened by globalization, which has encouraged popular cultural exchanges between countries, including through the Korean Wave (Hallyu) with BTS as the main icon. BTS represents soft masculinity through feminine aesthetics, emotional expression, and empathetic communication. Although it has been widely studied globally, there is still a lack of research that highlights the perception of BTS masculinity in the context of Malay-Islamic culture in Bangka. This research aims to explore how ARMY Institut Pahlawan 12 interprets BTS masculinity, especially in negotiations between local values and global cultural influences. The method used is qualitative descriptive with in-depth interview techniques, documentation, and literature study. Informants are purposively selected from among active ARMYs. The results show that BTS is understood as a masculine figure despite adopting feminine attributes. This perception is formed through three stages: selection (initial exposure to music and performance), interpretation (meaning of lyrics and attitudes), and reaction (active support and imitation of style). ARMYs demonstrate a selective acceptance that reflects a hybrid identity, combining local values such as politeness and honor with a flexible and reflective global expression. This study contributes to gender studies in Indonesia and forms the basis for inclusive communication strategies in character education and popular culture.

Abstract

Communication plays an important role in da'wah activities, especially in khuruj activities, which emphasize conveying the da'wah message to the community. Preaching doesn't just involve speaking ability, but how someone can make a good impression with the message of the sermon so that it is accepted by the target audience. Therefore, in achieving the success of da'wah, both verbal and non-verbal communication are needed in its delivery. The objectives of this research include: to determine the implementation of verbal and non-verbal communication in the khuruj activities of students at Daarul Mukhlasin Islamic boarding school in Baturusa village, to determine the procedures for khuruj activities of students at Daarul Mukhlasin Islamic boarding school in Baturusa village, and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in the khuruj activities of students at Daarul Mukhlasin Islamic boarding school in Baturusa village. To explain the three research objectives above, the researcher used a descriptive qualitative research method where the data generated does not contain numbers, but rather data obtained thru observation, interviews, and documentation, resulting in descriptive data. In this study, the researcher used six informants consisting of Ustadz and students from the Daarul Mukhlasin Islamic boarding school in Baturusa village. The research findings indicate the implementation of verbal and non-verbal communication during the khuruj activity. Which means verbal communication is used more frequently. Because during the community's khuruj, the ustaz and santri interacted with each other both verbally and in writing. Meanwhile, the implementation of verbal communication is found in the good habits of students taught by the pesantren and practiced during khuruj activities, so these good habits contain a da'wah message that can be accepted by society.

Abstract

This article analyzes the communication patterns that emerge and develop from the integration of Smart Contracts in Islamic financial transactions. The adoption of Smart Contracts marks a fundamental shift from traditional sighat (ijab qabul) to automated and immutable programmed communication on the blockchain. This study finds that the communication patterns involved are divided into three main dimensions: first, formal human-to-contract communication, which is the process of coding and initial agreement of the contract (such as mudharabah or murabahah) where the sighat is represented by explicit digital input; second, fully automated system-to-system communication, where Smart Contracts communicate with external data (oracles) to verify conditions and trigger self-executing transactions; and third, contract-to-ledger communication, which results in transparent and immutable transaction recording on the blockchain. Although promising efficiency and improved Sharia Compliance through the elimination of operational gharar, this programmed communication pattern poses challenges related to contract flexibility and code error risks. Therefore, it is necessary to formulate clear Sharia code standards and digital governance mechanisms recognized by the Sharia Supervisory Board to ensure that this new communication pattern validly and ethically supports maqasid syariah (Sharia objectives).
