Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between digital stress and social media addiction in late adolescents as active users of social media. The research method used is descriptive quantitative with purposive sampling technique. The sample consisted of 300 respondents aged 18-24 years who actively use social media. Data collection used digital stress scale based on aspects of Hall (2021) and Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale (BSMAS) based on aspects of Griffiths (2005). Data analysis used product moment correlation test. The results showed that there was a significant positive relationship between digital stress and social media addiction with a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.393. The subject's digital stress level was in the moderate category (54%), while 81.7% of subjects experienced social media addiction. The results of this study indicate that digital stress has a relationship with social media addiction in late adolescents who are active users of social media.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to see the effect of work life balance on work stress on female teachers who have a family in Koto Tangah District. This study uses purposive sampling techniques, determining samples with certain considerations. The subject of this study was 110 teachers. The data collection method in this study uses the work life balance scale and work stress. Data is processed by using simple regression analysis. Hypothesis test results with a significance value (p-value) of 0.000, indicate that the effect of the work life balance variable on work stress variables is very significant. While the negative regression coefficient of -0,724 in this study shows that each increase in work life balance will reduce the level of work stress by 0.724. The correlation coefficient (R) of 0.525 shows a positive linear relationship between work life balance and work stress.

Abstract

This research aims to describe how library anxiety is experienced by students and what factors cause library anxiety in students entering 2023 at the Library of the Faculty of Languages and Arts, Padang State University using the library anxiety indicator Swigon (2011). This research is qualitative research using the phenemonological method. Determining informants in this research was carried out using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using interview and observation methods. Data validation was carried out by triangulating sources and time and analyzed through data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of this research show that: (1) the frequency and purpose of students visiting the FBS library is based on different reasons, such as students feeling that the library does not provide the information they need, crowded library conditions sometimes make students afraid to go to the library alone, libraries that often crowded means students don't get any more seats, and library regulations that don't suit students' learning styles; (2) barriers with staff describes a situation where students feel that FBS library staff are intimidating figure; (3) affective barriers which give feelings of fear, awkwardness and discomfort become obstacles when students have to deal with the FBS library; (4) technological barriers where this is not an obstacle for students when using the FBS library because of the ease that students feel when using technology; (5) library knowledge barriers that arise due to students' lack of knowledge of libraries which makes them feel lazy about visiting the FBS library; (6) library comfort barriers are characterized by feelings of discomfort experienced by students while in the FBS library; (7) resource barriers experienced by students where students feel there is still a lack of availability and diversity of collections available in the FBS library.

Abstract

In an interview conducted with Mr. Abdi, he stated that in the midst of the current economic crisis, pawning gold was indeed a profitable business because many people carried out this practice. The price of gold on the market experienced a significant and rapid increase, reaching around Rp. 1,131,823 per gram. The aim is to analyze the comparison of the estimated value of gold at Islamic banks and Islamic pawnshops and to analyze the similarities and differences in gold pawning transactions at Islamic banks and Islamic pawnshops. This research uses qualitative methods which aim to understand the phenomena experienced by research subjects by collecting data in the form of words and not numbers. The results in this research are a realistic picture, information based on facts obtained by researchers in the field. Researchers conducted a survey at the research location using interviews, documentation and observation of research subjects designated as informants in this research. So researchers can draw the conclusion that there is a difference in public interest in pawning gold at Bank Syariah Indonesia and Pegadaian Syariah. Input for Sharia Banks and Pegadaian Syariah in improving the quality of sharia gold pawn products, both operational systems and services. So that people can continue to get the best service from Sharia Banks and Sharia Pegadaian.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of sense of humor and family support on academic burnout in students at Padang State University. This study also examines the effect of each independent variable (sense of humor and family support) on the dependent variable (academic burnout). The sample consisted of 340 students at Padang State University taken using the snowball sampling technique. This study used a measuring instrument for academic burnout using the Maslach Burnout Inventory - Student Survey (MBI-SS), a measuring instrument for family support using The Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), and a measuring instrument for sense of humor using the Multidimensional Sense of Humor Scale (MSHS). The testing conducted in this study with multiple linear analysis using SPSS Statistic 20.0 for Windows software. The results showed that there was a positive and significant effect of sense of humor and family support on academic burnout.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how: (1) a significant relationship between the e-lib UIN SMDD Bukittinggi on information searches of students in 2020, Faculty of Economics and Islamic Business, Sjech M. Djamil Djambek Bukittinggi State Islamic University; (2) a significant relationship between information searches on the e-lib UIN SMDD Bukittinggi on students in 2020, Faculty of Economics and Islamic Business, Sjech M. Djamil Djambek Bukittinggi State Islamic University. Djamil Djambek Bukittinggi; (3) the influence of the e-lib UIN SMDD Bukittinggi on the information search of students in 2020, Faculty of Economics and Islamic Business, State Islamic University Sjech M. Djamil Djambek Bukittinggi. The research uses descriptive methods with quantitative research types. This study consists of two variables, namely the e-library variable (X) and the information search variable (Y). The population of this study were all students of the Faculty of Economics and Islamic Business in 2020 as many as 1,137 people. The sample was taken as many as 92 using the Slovin formula. The technique used is simple random sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires with data analysis techniques. Based on the research results, it is known that the coefficient of determination test of the e-library variable (X) gives an influence on information search (Y) of 86.1% while the remaining 13.9% is influenced by other factors not examined in this study. While based on the T-test, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted while the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected, thus showing that e-library has a positive and significant effect on information search.

Abstract

This research aims to see differences in social comparisons among teenage users of Instagram and TikTok. This research uses a quantitative approach in its methodology. Sampling in this study used a purposive sampling method. The sample in this study was 340, consisting of 170 teenage Instagram users and 170 teenage TikTok users. This research uses a scale compiled by Gibbons & Buunk, (1999), namely the Iowa-Netherlands Comparison Orientation Measure (INCOM) using the dimensions proposed by Festinger, (1954) which are found in Gina's (2019) research, namely ability and opinion. The analysis results use the Independent Sample T-test and the Mann Whitney test as alternatives, because the data distribution is not normal. The results of the research showed that there was no difference in social comparison between teenage Instagram users and teenage TikTok users.

Abstract

University students are in a phase of self-discovery, during which a hedonistic lifestyle can influence their self-perception. This study aims to analyze the relationship between a hedonistic lifestyle and self-esteem among Generation Z students at a private university in Jakarta. The research employs a quantitative method with a correlational approach, where data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 270 students using purposive sampling techniques. The hedonistic lifestyle was measured using the Hedonistic Lifestyle Scale (Engel et al., 1994), while self-esteem was measured using the Self-Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1965). The results indicate a significant positive relationship between a hedonistic lifestyle and self-esteem, with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.683 and a significance level of p < 0.05. These findings suggest that students with a hedonistic lifestyle tend to have higher self-esteem. Overall, the study shows that the majority of Generation Z students at the private university in Jakarta exhibit both high self-esteem and a high hedonistic lifestyle.

Abstract

As a student, students are required to be able to complete the lecture level with satisfactory grades. In reality, many students are not only responsible for studying but also have other responsibilities such as organisations, work and family. Common demands experienced by students such as getting good grades, getting a job, building a career and some are also required to get married immediately. Demands that exceed the limits of the ability of students will trigger the onset of psychological distress. Psychological distress is a condition or unpleasant feeling that is felt subjectively by individuals. Distress can be caused by situational factors, namely adverse childhood experience. This study aims to determine the relationship between Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) and Psychological Distress in Padang State University Students. This study uses quantitative research methods with a correlational approach. Sampling using purposive sampling technique with a total of 100 respondents. Data analysis using product moment correlation. The results showed that ACE and psychological distress had a positive relationship with a p value of 0, 00> 0.05 with a pearson correlation value of 0.587.

Abstract

The Indonesian Smart Card (KIP) recipient students are required to get good learning outcomes. However, some students get low learning outcomes, one of the factors that affects learning outcomes is self-awareness. Low student self-awareness is the cause of low learning outcomes. This research method is quantitative with descriptive and correlational research types. The population in this study was 7,002 KIP recipient students studying at Universitas Negeri Padang who were active in the January-June 2024 semester, with a sample of 382 students selected using the simple random sampling technique. The data was processed using descriptive analysis techniques with a percentage formula and correlational analysis techniques with Pearson product moment. The results of this study indicate that (1) self-awareness is in the high category (65.97%); (2) learning outcomes are in the moderate category (69.9%); and (3) the results of the correlation analysis show a positive and significant relationship between self-awareness (X) and learning outcomes (Y) with a calculated r value of 0.429 with a significance level of <0.005 at a moderate relationship level. A significant positive relationship means that the higher the self-awareness, the higher the student's learning outcomes. Based on the results of this study, counselors can provide assistance to improve self-awareness and student learning outcomes through information services, group counseling services and group guidance services.
