Abstract

The low level of student participation and understanding in Al-Qur’an Hadis instruction—particularly in the study of Surah Al-A’la—poses a challenge to creating an effective and meaningful learning process. This study aims to develop an interactive video-based learning medium using Edpuzzle, tailored to the characteristics of eighth-grade students and designed to enhance their comprehension of the material. The research employed the ASSURE development model, which includes analyzing learners' needs and characteristics, defining learning objectives, selecting relevant media, integrating digital technology, engaging learners actively, and conducting media evaluation and revision. Validation results indicate that the Edpuzzle interactive video received feasibility scores of 83% from media experts and 81% from content experts, suggesting it is suitable for instructional use. A trial involving 20 students yielded a positive response, with an average satisfaction rate of 90%. Students reported that Edpuzzle made learning more enjoyable, varied, and helpful in understanding the content of Surah Al-A’la through visualization and interactive features. These findings conclude that Edpuzzle positively contributes to improving student motivation and comprehension by delivering content in a structured and communicative manner. The implications suggest that interactive digital media such as Edpuzzle are appropriate for broader application in religious education and hold potential to foster students’ critical thinking skills and digital literacy in the technological era.

Abstract

Although religious guidance in schools has been widely studied, research that specifically examines Muslim students’ perceptions of religious activities in non-Islam-based schools remains very limited. This study aims to explore the forms of religious activities implemented at SMA Don Bosco and to analyze Muslim students’ perceptions of these religious guidance programs. This qualitative case study involved ten Muslim students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns of meaning in students’ experiences. The findings show that the school organizes six types of religious activities: a short Friday sermon at the beginning of each month, salat Dzuhur in congregation, tahfiz Al-Qur’an, recitation submission and murajaah, pesantren Ramadhan, and celebrations of Islamic holy days (perayaan hari besar Islam/PHBI). All of these activities receive positive responses from students because they provide spiritual, social, and emotional benefits, including increased discipline, sense of responsibility, and strengthening of religious character. These findings contribute to the development of habituation theory in religious education and broaden understanding of the role of non-Islam-based schools in fostering the religious development of Muslim students. The study underscores the importance of structured, participatory, and engaging religious activities in shaping students’ religious character and recommends that schools maintain and further develop varied religious guidance programs. Future research is recommended to employ triangulation methods and expand research sites to obtain a more comprehensive picture of religious guidance practices in different non-Islam-based school contexts.

Abstract

Home internet usage in Samarinda continues to increase in line with growing connectivity needs, and in a competitive market context, understanding customer preferences and experiences is crucial for improving service quality, while studies on event-based assessments of home internet service quality in Samarinda remain limited. This study aims to evaluate users’ experiences with IndiHome services and to analyze the factors that influence their preferences when choosing a home internet provider. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach with a survey design, involving 57 respondents selected through convenience sampling during the Samarinda Food Week event. Data were collected using a closed-ended questionnaire administered via Google Forms and analyzed with SPSS using Chi-square tests and binary logistic regression. The results show that the main reasons respondents choose a provider are affordable prices and network stability, while the most dominant complaint concerns unstable connections. These findings extend the literature on location-based digital service quality and provide practical input for IndiHome in formulating strategies to enhance customer satisfaction in Samarinda.

Abstract

The phenomenon of foreign language use in students’ utterances, particularly English and Korean, is increasingly present in both academic and everyday communication and gives rise to interference that has the potential to affect the structure and normative rules of Indonesian. This study aims to identify and analyze the forms and causal factors of foreign language interference in the utterances of students at Universitas Peradaban. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through participant observation and semi-structured interviews. The data were analyzed using a linguistic analysis approach by classifying interference into phonological, morphological, syntactic, and lexical aspects. The findings show that the most dominant interference occurs at the lexical level, characterized by the direct use of English words or phrases without translation, such as deadline, submit, and mute, as well as syntactic deviations resulting from the influence of foreign sentence structures. The main factors causing interference include habitual use of foreign languages in course materials, the influence of digital media, and the perception that using foreign languages reflects a higher level of intellectuality. In conclusion, foreign language interference in students’ utterances is not only a linguistic phenomenon but also reflects social and cultural dynamics within the academic environment. The implications of this study underscore the need to strengthen awareness and guidance regarding the proper use of Indonesian in higher education in order to maintain the identity and function of Indonesian as the national language amid the pressures of globalization.

Abstract

Although gamification has been extensively studied in digital education, research that specifically examines digital education competitions as a strategy for simultaneously enhancing literacy and strengthening business ecosystems remains limited, particularly in Kalimantan. This study aims to analyze the participation of students in Kalimantan in Ilmupedia Berani Jawab (IBJ) Season 5 and 6 and to evaluate the effectiveness of gamification in increasing learning engagement. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed by processing the entire population in the official IBJ database, comprising 2,585 participants (878 teams) in Season 5 and 8,297 participants (2,933 teams) in Season 6. The data were tabulated and analyzed to identify patterns of participant distribution across districts and provinces in Kalimantan. The findings show a more than threefold increase in participation, accompanied by a shift in the participation center from Tarakan in Season 5 to Samarinda in Season 6. Gamification elements such as points, leaderboards, and time limits were found to increase participants’ motivation, focus, and consistency in completing challenges. In addition to educational benefits, IBJ also contributes to user engagement and the strengthening of Telkomsel’s digital ecosystem in the student segment. This study enriches the literature on gamification and digital participation beyond Java and offers recommendations for organizers to improve equitable access, strengthen infrastructural support, and develop evaluation features. Future studies are recommended to combine quantitative and qualitative methods to explore participants’ experiences in greater depth.

Abstract

Although listening skills and critical thinking dispositions are foundational to the development of twenty-first-century literacy in primary education, studies that specifically integrate Problem-Based Learning (PBL) with interactive digital media to simultaneously enhance both competencies in lower-grade students remain limited. This study aims to examine the implementation of the PBL model supported by the Information Detective Flipbook (Flipbook Detektif Informasi) and to evaluate its effectiveness in improving critical attitudes and listening skills in Grade III elementary school students. The study employs a mixed-methods approach with an embedded concurrent design, involving 20 Grade III students at SDN Wonoplembon 02 Semarang selected through saturated sampling. Data were collected using structured observation sheets, semi-structured interview guides, field notes, documentation, and pretest–posttest instruments, and analyzed through thematic analysis and the N-Gain statistical test. The results show that the implementation of PBL was effective, with almost all students displaying high curiosity and the ability to evaluate information logically. The average listening score increased from 65.4 to 85.2, with an N-Gain of 0.57 (medium category), and the percentage of mastery rose from 40% to 100%. These findings strengthen the development of constructivist learning theory by demonstrating that PBL can integrate the development of multiple skills in lower-grade students. The study underscores the importance of combining structured instructional models, authentic content in the form of public announcements, and interactive flipbook media to foster active learning and critical inquiry, and it offers practical implications for teachers, curriculum developers, and researchers seeking to integrate digital media with problem-based approaches, including long-term exploration and the examination of moderating factors such as learning styles and student motivation.

Abstract

Although the Talking Stick instructional model has been widely studied, research that specifically integrates the Lingkubaca Student Worksheet (Lembar Kerja Murid [LKM] “Lingkubaca”) with concrete media based on contextual images to enhance beginning reading skills and communication attitudes in Grade I students remains very limited. This study aims to describe the implementation of Talking Stick supported by the Lingkubaca Student Worksheet and to test its effectiveness in improving students’ ability to read simple words and sentences as well as their communication attitudes. The study employs a mixed-methods approach with a one-group pretest–posttest design, involving 10 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and worksheet-based tests, and analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative methods. The findings show a significant improvement in beginning reading skills, with the average score increasing from 58.50 to 81.70, accompanied by positive developments in communication attitudes. These results reinforce cognitive development theory that emphasizes the importance of concrete media and social interaction in learning among students at the concrete operational stage and extend understanding of the effectiveness of game-based learning in early literacy development. The study concludes that the collaboration of reading activities, educational games, and oral communication is a key strategy for building basic literacy in early-grade students and provides theoretical implications for early literacy studies as well as practical guidance for teachers seeking to optimize the use of concrete media and thematic worksheets in enhancing the literacy of Phase A (fase A) students.
