Abstract

This study introduces Love Education for Deep Learning as a conceptual framework that redefines education from a technocratic instrument into an ethical and transformative arena. Grounded in cognitive, emotive, and spiritual qualities rooted in mahabbah (love) and rahmah (compassion), the paradigm connects the global movement toward humanistic curricula with decolonial critiques of Eurocentric education. Through conceptual inquiry and systematic narrative synthesis, the study advances three key contributions: it articulates love and deep learning as mutually reinforcing foundations for educational practice; it proposes a triangulated cognitive, affective, and spiritual framework for understanding learning processes; and it establishes the Love Curriculum as an epistemological novelty in curriculum theory. A cycle implementation model is proposed to link education policy, teaching practices, and student outcomes, thereby offering a conceptual roadmap for the implementation of Indonesia’s Merdeka Belajar reform. Although conceptual in nature, this paradigm delineates a research agenda for empirical and cross-cultural investigations on motivation, resilience, and critical thinking, and supports global efforts to rehumanize and decolonize education.

Abstract

Although the use of digital media in teaching and learning has received considerable attention in previous studies, research that specifically examines the development of teaching materials based on Heyzine Flipbook to improve beginning writing skills and digital literacy among first-grade elementary school students remains limited. This study aimed to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of digital flipbook-based teaching materials as an interactive instructional medium for lower-grade students. A research and development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model was employed, involving 17 first-grade students at SD Negeri Boyolali selected through purposive sampling based on learning needs. Data were collected using questionnaires, interviews, and observations, and were analyzed through thematic analysis and descriptive percentage techniques. The results show that the developed digital teaching materials obtained validity scores of 92–95% from material and media experts, which fall into the “very good” category, while student responses reached 99.46%, indicating that the medium is highly effective in increasing learning interest, material comprehension, and student engagement during beginning writing instruction. These findings contribute to the development of theory related to interactive digital learning media and broaden understanding of flipbook implementation in basic literacy instruction. The study concludes that visual–interactive, technology-based teaching materials are crucial in lower-grade learning and recommends that educators integrate flipbooks as supportive media for early literacy instruction, while also opening avenues for further research on the development of advanced features, expansion of sample coverage, and long-term evaluation of media effectiveness.

Abstract

Listening skills are a fundamental competence in Bahasa Indonesia instruction, yet in practice listening activities often take place in a passive manner and are insufficiently supported by appropriate instructional media, causing many students to struggle to maintain attention and follow the storyline of aural texts. This study aimed to describe the implementation of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) model combined with a Board Book Audio Aural and to analyze its influence on story comprehension and cooperation among 22 fifth-grade students at SDN Boyolali. A descriptive qualitative approach with a field study design was employed, using participatory observation, field notes, documentation, quizzes, and event-sequencing tasks as data collection techniques. The findings indicate that all stages of TGT were implemented effectively and that the use of the Board Book Audio Aural in the tournament phase helped most students to listen more attentively. Groups with strong internal coordination obtained higher quiz scores and were able to reconstruct the story sequence more accurately and quickly, although several challenges—such as unstable classroom conditions and variation in students’ ability to maintain focus—still affected the learning process. Overall, the integration of TGT and Board Book Audio Aural was found to enhance students’ listening skills and collaborative interaction, thereby underscoring the importance of multimodal media and structured cooperative strategies in listening instruction at the elementary school level.

Abstract

Listening skills for aural texts among elementary school students remain relatively low, as reflected in their suboptimal ability to identify essential information, grasp the main message, and provide logical responses to spoken texts. Although listening instruction has been widely studied, research that specifically integrates concrete audiolingual media with the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model remains limited. This study aimed to describe the implementation of Kartu Memory Listening media within a PBL framework in listening instruction and to examine its effectiveness in improving students’ listening skills and critical reasoning. A mixed-methods approach with an embedded concurrent design was employed, involving 28 third-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Listening skills data were collected using pretest–posttest assessments with teacher-read announcement stimuli supported by teacher cards, while students used learner cards containing characteristics and keywords of various types of announcements along with visuals of four common public locations (stations, ports, airports, and bus terminals). Critical reasoning was assessed through observations conducted by two observers using a standardized instrument. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, while qualitative data were analyzed using the Miles–Huberman technique. The results show a significant improvement in listening skills, with a mean posttest score of 91.6 (very good category), and in critical reasoning, with a score of 87.5 (good category). These findings enrich theoretical discussions on the use of concrete audiolingual media within a PBL framework and provide practical implications for Bahasa Indonesia instruction in elementary schools, while also opening avenues for further research on additional factors that may influence learning outcomes but were not examined in this study.

Abstract

Although cooperative learning models and digital media have been widely examined in the context of literacy instruction, studies that specifically integrate a flipbook based on the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) model to enhance personal letter writing skills and communication attitudes among elementary school students remain limited. This study aimed to describe the implementation of a CIRC-based flipbook, assess its effectiveness in improving personal letter writing skills, and analyze students’ communication attitudes during instruction. Employing a mixed-methods approach with a sequential explanatory design, the research involved 27 fifth-grade students selected through total sampling. Data were obtained through writing tests, observations, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. The results show that 81% of students surpassed the KKTP benchmark, indicating that the CIRC-based flipbook is effective in improving personal letter writing skills. Qualitative data confirm that students displayed positive communication attitudes, particularly in terms of respect, responsibility, fairness, and caring. These findings reinforce cooperative learning theory and the use of interactive digital media in language instruction, and they underscore that collaborative digital media can support the enhancement of writing skills and the development of students’ communication attitudes. Follow-up studies are recommended to adapt similar models to other language skills and broader instructional contexts.

Abstract

The management of productive zakat is a strategic instrument for improving the welfare of mustahik through empowerment-based strengthening of microenterprises; however, the effectiveness of its implementation depends heavily on the strategies adopted by zakat management institutions in designing program planning, implementation, and supervision. This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the strategies of BAZNAS Bogor Regency in managing productive zakat and to examine the extent to which these programs are able to empower mustahik MSMEs. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and program document analysis, and were then analyzed interpretively. The findings show that the productive zakat management strategy of BAZNAS Bogor Regency is implemented through needs-based planning grounded in the actual conditions of mustahik, organizational arrangements that involve local partnerships, the disbursement of business capital accompanied by mentoring, and continuous supervision through periodic monitoring. The results further indicate that the success of MSME empowerment is strongly influenced by the quality of the initial needs analysis, the relevance of the financing schemes, and the consistency of the mentoring received by mustahik. The study concludes that productive zakat has strong potential to enhance economic self-reliance if managed through an integrated strategic approach, and recommends strengthening long-term monitoring–evaluation practices and expanding comparative inter-regional studies to enrich zakat-based empowerment models.

Abstract

The low levels of critical reasoning attitudes and listening comprehension of narrative texts among sixth-grade students at SD Negeri 7 Boja, as evidenced by their Learning Objective Mastery Criterion (KKTP) scores falling below the target of 70, hinder both content understanding and the development of higher-order thinking skills. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness and impact of implementing a flipbook-based Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model on improving students’ critical reasoning attitudes and narrative listening skills. A mixed-methods approach with an embedded design was employed, involving 30 sixth-grade students as participants. Quantitative data were collected through listening comprehension tests and critical reasoning attitude questionnaires, while qualitative data were obtained through observations and interviews; these were then analyzed using descriptive statistics combined with thematic analysis. Quantitative findings indicated a significant increase in both variables, as reflected in the rise of the mean narrative listening score from 61.5 before the intervention to 82.3 afterward, as well as an improvement in critical reasoning attitude scores, with 86.7% of students achieving the “Good” to “Very Good” categories and surpassing the KKTP benchmark of 70. Qualitative analysis reinforced these results by showing that the PjBL-based flipbook fostered more interactive and authentic learning and encouraged students to actively construct projects that required critical analysis. It is concluded that the implementation of a PjBL-based flipbook is highly effective in enhancing critical reasoning attitudes and narrative listening skills among sixth-grade students at SD Negeri 7 Boja. The findings underscore the importance of utilizing PjBL models supported by interactive digital media as a key alternative for improving the quality of Bahasa Indonesia instruction and for developing twenty-first-century skills related to literacy and critical thinking.

Abstract

Pesantren feudalism as an issue of media representation has increasingly come to the fore in line with the widening gap between dramatized news coverage and the everyday realities of pesantren communities, particularly amid digital disruption that drives sensational narratives at the expense of factual accuracy. This study examines the media representation of pesantren feudalism in Trans7 news coverage and compares it with the social reality at Pesantren An-Nur 2 Bululawang, with the aim of analyzing how a feudal image is constructed in television reporting and how this construction intersects with, and often contradicts the educational, ethical, and cultural dynamics practiced within the pesantren. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, data were obtained through broadcast document analysis, observation of the pesantren environment, and in-depth interviews with caregivers, ustaz, and santri, and subsequently analyzed interpretively. The findings reveal three main patterns of media representation: symbolic dramatization of authority, selective emphasis on hierarchical relations, and visual framing that reinforces feudal stereotypes of pesantren. Conversely, field data show that authority in the pesantren is ethical, contextual, and pedagogical in nature, embodied through the principles of adab, ta’dzīm, mutual respect, and dialogical learning processes, while also uncovering negative data or anomalies related to variations in disciplinary practices and differences in understanding among santri. The study concludes that media narratives tend to oversimplify pesantren traditions and fail to capture their complexity as dynamic Islamic educational institutions. The implications of these findings enrich scholarship on media representation and the culture of Islamic education, while encouraging journalists, policymakers, and pesantren leaders to foster more accurate, ethical, and constructive public communication about the pesantren world.

Abstract

Elementary school pupils’ understanding of official letters and the development of critical attitudes remain challenging in Bahasa Indonesia instruction, while studies that specifically integrate Lembar Kerja Analisis Kesalahan (Error Analysis Worksheet) with the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model are still limited. This study aimed to describe the implementation of a PBL-based Error Analysis Worksheet and to evaluate its effectiveness in improving sixth-grade students’ understanding of official letters and their critical attitudes. A mixed-methods approach with an embedded concurrent design was employed, involving 14 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through pretest–posttest assessments, classroom observations, interviews, and document analysis of students’ Error Analysis Worksheets (LKAK), and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, N-gain testing, and Miles and Huberman’s qualitative analysis model. The results show an increase in the mean score from 66 to 86, an improvement in learning mastery from 57.14% to 92.86%, and an N-gain value of 0.60, which falls within the medium category and is interpreted as fairly effective. Qualitative findings further reveal that most students demonstrated critical attitudes in the “very good” category, as indicated by their ability to maintain focus, consistently identify errors, and revise their work independently. These findings enrich the development of constructivist theory and the literature on Bahasa Indonesia learning, particularly regarding the integration of error analysis within problem-based instruction. The study concludes that a PBL-based Error Analysis Worksheet is an effective instructional strategy for enhancing students’ understanding of formal texts and their critical reasoning, implying the need for teachers to optimize the use of this tool and opening opportunities for its broader application to other Bahasa Indonesia materials and more diverse school contexts.

Abstract

Instruction in official letter writing at the elementary level has been widely examined, yet studies that specifically integrate Lembar Kerja Murid (LKM) SURAMI based on Wizer to enhance pupils’ understanding of the structure and linguistic features of official letters remain limited. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of Wizer-based LKM SURAMI in teaching official letter comprehension to sixth-grade pupils at SD IT Insan Mulia Semarang. Adopting a mixed-methods approach with a one-group pretest–posttest design, the research involved 14 pupils selected through total sampling. Data were collected through tests, observations, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, N-gain calculations, and Miles and Huberman’s qualitative analysis model. The results showed an increase in the mean score from 66 to 86, an improvement in learning mastery from 57.14% to 92.86%, and an N-gain value of 0.60, which falls into the medium category and is interpreted as fairly effective in improving understanding of the structure and linguistic features of official letters. Qualitatively, most pupils were in the “Very Good” category, characterized by focus, enthusiasm, and active engagement during digital worksheet–based learning. These findings enrich the literature on digital literacy and constructivism in the context of Bahasa Indonesia instruction at the elementary level and underscore the potential of Wizer-based LKM SURAMI as an interactive learning medium for optimizing comprehension of formal texts. Follow-up studies are recommended to test the integration of similar digital worksheets in other Bahasa Indonesia topics and in more diverse school settings to obtain a more comprehensive picture of their effectiveness.
